- Chapter 20: Sovereign Racing Across the Night Sky
The townspeople started to murmur, then scream, as they saw the sudden apparition in the sky above. They saw not the Milky Way but a massive, writhing celestial body pulsing and shining like the stars in the universe. Its head, or what seemed to be its head, was equipped with giant claws and jaws, undeniably a living creature radiating clear hostility. Its high-pitched, alien screams echoed.
With claws as large as massive buildings, the monster was extraordinarily huge. Summoned by the Demon Lord to separate Touko. High in the sky, on the back of this enormous creature, Touko was forced to mount it.
“A monster this big… Wait for me, Yuusha! I’ll kill it in no time!!”
Touko clenched her fist firmly. In her current state, she could easily kill this monster. It would be a mere delay tactic, but before the slight delay became fatal, Touko was prepared to use all her might to slay the beast… or so it seemed.
“Hahaha! What’s this? A Guardian Beast summoned by the Demon Lord? Seems he’s quite invested in “this” Savior!”
On the monster’s back stood another creature, the Jie Destroyer Eldora, a monster on par with the Demon Lord. Eldora looked at Touko, grinning broadly in utter delight.
Ignoring him, Touko attempted to punch but was blown away by a kick from Eldora. Despite her otherworldly strength, Touko was tossed around like an ordinary girl.
“What are you…!”
Eldora didn’t flinch at her glare, still smiling gleefully.
“Hey, you’ll quickly kill this thing and help the Savior, right? That’s no fun. It’s rare for the Demon Lord to come out to the Savior like this. Can’t let you spoil the fun!”
“Fine, then I’ll kill you first. I’ve just recognized you as an enemy of Yuusha.”
Touko’s emotions instantly cooled. Her eyes, now devoid of emotional expression, looked at Eldora as if he were a mere insect to dispose of. He was indeed an enemy of Yuusha. The monster could be killed anytime, but Eldora wouldn’t be easy. In the void of the night sky, she was determined to kill him for sure.
“Nice! That gets me fired up!!”
Eldora floated, a being of the highest rank among dragonkin, capable of dragon abilities in human form. He didn’t need wings to fly; he could just think it, and it would be so.
Eldora zoomed around the giant monster at incredible speeds, too fast for the eyes to follow, breaking the sound barrier.
“Here I come, woman! Make it fun for me!!”
With a shout, Eldora charged. A fierce kick, narrowly dodged by Touko, struck the monster instead, creating a huge hole and eliciting a scream. But Eldora didn’t care, quickly turning and charging again at Touko. In this limited space, he flew around effortlessly, planning to kick her to death.
“Predictable attacks. Strong, but lacking in intelligence.”
No matter how fast he moved, his trajectory was predictable. And if the trajectory was clear, the timing of his kicks was too. Of course, there were times when Touko couldn’t see because of the monster’s body, but then the plan was to defend until the right moment and then strike back… hard!
“Whoa!”
Touko’s punch landed on Eldora, sending him tumbling with the sudden impact. Payback for earlier. Closing the distance, she launched a follow-up attack, but Eldora countered with his fists.
“Not bad, woman! It wouldn’t be fun otherwise!!”
Touko looked at Eldora with a cold gaze, clearly uninterested in him. She couldn’t afford to waste time here; she needed to return to Yuusha.
“Can you just die already? You’re in the way.”
As if responding to her words, Eldora took a combat stance for the first time. It was an odd posture: legs spread, arms extended forward, fingertips tensed. He was preparing something. Touko sensed it was dangerous to rush in carelessly.
“Come out, you bastards! The carnival begins now!!”
Eldora grabbed at the air, tearing it apart. The ripped space revealed another dimension – a dragon’s lair. Countless dragons poured out from the gap he created.
Dragons belong to the highest order in this world. Though few, their power is overwhelming; even one lower dragon resembles a country’s army. And now, countless dragons swarmed towards Touko.
“You’re just stalling for time? These lizards are no match for me… What!?”
Touko, of course, did not consider these dragons a threat. Eldora’s intention was elsewhere. He used the numerous dragons to create blind spots and obstruct her vision. Being the king of dragons, Eldora could share the vision of the dragons he summoned. Furthermore, he didn’t care about these lesser dragons.
From a blind spot, he attacked Touko with the dragons. Dragon claws tore through space, sending shockwaves to slice at Touko.
Eldora soared again, moving in even more complex, high-speed patterns, aiming to kick Touko to death in this confined space.
“What’s wrong, woman? You’re getting thrashed! I wonder what the Demon Lord is doing to the Savior right now!?”
Triggered by his words, Touko’s demeanor changed. The air around her seemed to freeze, tensing up. The lesser dragons halted, terrified of the superior being before them.
As Eldora moved to kick, he was suddenly grabbed by the leg. His movements had been faster than sound, and until now, Touko hadn’t been able to track him. Yet, suddenly, she caught him. Her grip was incredibly strong, threatening to crush Eldora’s leg.
“Yuusha is what?”
Eldora gasped. He was the pinnacle of dragon kind, yet he felt overwhelmed, if only for a moment, by Touko’s gaze. It was like staring into an abyss, a profound darkness in her eyes.
Touko slammed the leg she was holding against the giant monster repeatedly, causing it to scream in pain. It was simple for her – to take down the flying monster and Eldora simultaneously. She could use Eldora to kill the monster.
“Cut it out already!”
Eldora tore his leg away from Touko, escaping. He could regenerate his leg, but it cost him energy. His strategy changed suddenly.
“What are you… Your strength… You weren’t hiding it, right? Damn it, this Guardian Beast is almost dead. Do you realize if this thing falls in the city, it will harm humans?”
“So what? Yuusha is fine; I’ll ensure this monster doesn’t hurt him when it falls. I don’t care about other humans.”
Touko’s blunt response took Eldora aback.
“You don’t care about others? Just Yuusha and you?”
“I don’t need men other than Yuusha or any women either. The world should only have Yuusha and me. I’ll kill anyone who interferes with Yuusha. He’s the Savior. Anyone who bothers Yuusha, I will kill. Even if people must die for it, it doesn’t matter to Yuusha and me.”
Eldora sensed the madness in her eyes. She only cared about herself and Yuusha, seeing everything else as worthless. He realized he had misjudged his opponent. She wasn’t human – not in spirit. Her mentality was demonic, filled with madness and possessiveness, far beyond the scope of normal human behavior.
“I’m leaving. I’m interested in humans, not monsters in human form.”
Eldora flew away into the night sky. Once he was gone, Touko dealt the final blow to the giant monster at her feet. It died instantly from her strike.

So he understood he wasn’t talking to a normal human.
