- Me who was the Older Brother, and the Girl who was my little sister.
- Chapter 6 part 2
Are you inviting me?
Is she serious? Is she seriously doing this?
I was bewildered, upset and frozen.
A little sister who did not stop.
And then────
knock knock knock
Just as I thought it was the end, I heard a knock on the dressing room door.
“Saki-san. It’s time to go and greet the other performers. Please go straight to the studio.”
“…….”
The voice belonged to Sasaki-san. She had to greet the other entertainers before the recording began.
“…….I’m kidding, Nii-san. It was a joke.”
My little sister giggled, returned to her desk, quickly finished the makeup she had been working on, and left the dressing room.
“Kosuke-kun, hurry up. We have to introduce and show your face.”
“──yeah, Yes.”
A joke. I see, it was a joke.
Ha, haha. My little sister’s jokes are too intense.
You don’t have to put on an act with such serious eyes, okay.
………..
******
After the introductions, everyone gathered in the studio and the recording began.
The program began with a talk by the entertainers, followed by a video, and then they ate the food introduced to them and gave their impressions. The entertainers we saw on TV looked cheerful and happy in their glamorous studios, but I got a different impression of them in the field.
Behind the brilliantly lit studio, I could see the dull wood grain of plywood. The entertainers were cheerful during the real thing, but when the cameras stopped, it was so quiet it felt like a lie.
This was what fiction was all about.
This was what made my sister’s smile look so fake. She had always been in this world.
An hour and a half had passed since the recording began. The program’s corners shifted and the focus turned to the younger sister.
“Saki-chan, how many years have you been acting already?”
“I’ve been on TV since I was 3 years old. …… I guess this is my 11th year.”
“Wow! You have that much acting experience in middle school?”
“I am in the same year as you!!”
“It’s not Saki-chan anymore, it’s Saki-san.”
Hahaha
In response to the moderator’s question, a comedian in his 30s or so, sitting on the dais, was surprised by her acting career.
My little sister was enchanted with an easy-to-understand smile so that her beautiful face wouldn’t crumble.
“The final episode of the recent drama was amazing.”
“Oh, did you watch it? Thank you very much.”
“I had no idea that Saki-chan was playing both the heroine and her best friend. …… That was amazing. Did anyone else notice that?”
“No No!”
“I still can’t believe it!! Tell me the truth! Sakiii!”
“No, why? You’re being rude to Saki-san.”
Even my little sister’s family, me and my parents, didn’t notice. That’s hard to believe, isn’t it? I was surprised too.
“What was the trick to the acting?
“Trick, huh? ……I guess I could really relate to the fact that this role was a story about a heroine who is able to do something she can’t do in her position as heroine by pretending to be someone else, which is a different position from the one she is currently in.”
“Wow! You mean you were able to relate to the heroine”
“That’s amazing. What would Saki-chan want to do if she pretended to be someone else?”
“……It’s a secret”
“Ara!! Oh no, I’m curious~”
“Not saying it here is the secret to Saki-chan’s success. She’s not like Auntie!”
“Who’s the old lady, Stopp it!!”
Hahaha
After that, the recording ended on time.
In the car on the way home. Sasaki-san told my little sister, who sat in the backseat while she drove, about tomorrow’s schedule. The little sister looked out the window and phrases appropriately. I was looking at my little sister’s schedule that Sasaki-san gave me.
After Sasaki-san was done talking , the car became quiet.
After a while, the silence was broken by my sister’s voice
“Nii-san”
“Hmmm? Sorry, I was sleeping. What is it?”
“Kosuke”
“…….eh, what?”
“Nothing, I just wanted to call you.”
“What’s with that”
“After all, I feel more at home here.”
“…….”
I didn’t ask which it was.
I felt that if I said anything unnecessary again, my little sister was going to make a bad joke.
Jokes should be stopped while they are still jokes.
With that thought in mind, I looked out the window too.
