Demonstration Of Magic.
“Good job, San. You’re getting a lot better.”
“Yes, it’s because of your guidance.”
San’s movement of her body was noticeably better than when she first started morning training.
This was evidence that her understanding of the structure of the human body and martial arts had far improved.
“Fia, you are doing good too. Keep it up.”
“She’s got a new look on her face, too. You are really amazing.”
Fia was still not performing very well, but her lack of confidence and jitteriness in whatever she was doing was slowly diminishing.
Feeling a solid response to hismorning practice, hetried his best not to be aware of the warm body temperature that enveloped his left arm.
“Hey, Frey.”
San stopped training and spoke to me with a quizzical look on her face.
“What’s up?”
“That’s… Isuna-nee, right?”
Her dubious expression darkened even more, and she pointed to Isuna, who was holding me in her arms.
After all, Isuna had not returned to normal after one night.
I have mixed feelings about whether this was a happy moment for me or not, but I was certain that the sight of Isuna’s presence in this place was a reality.
“Do I look like anything other than me?”
Isuna was hugging my arm and speaking to her sister in the same tone of voice as before.
“You do look like Isuna-nee, but…”
“But?”
“What’s wrong with you, didn’t you hate Frey so much? Did you eat something weird?”
Even for San, who also hated me at first, this change seemed to be unusual.
She wore a puzzling expression on her face that was hard to describe in words.
“Yes, you are right. If I had to say, I would say that I ate the fruit of the Truth.”
“What’s that… is it delicious?”
“Yes. It was sweet beyond belief…. I can’t wait to …taste it again and again…”
Isuna said this in an almost intoxicated voice, her fingertips stroking the bruise that still remained on her own neck.
I could feel the slight tremor of Isuna’s body through her arm.
I didn’t know what on earth she was imagining, but I didn’t have a very good feeling about it.
“Hmmm…”
“B-But… Isuna nee-san and sensei get along well… T-that’s a good thing right?”
“You always said at dinner, ‘You’re a human, you’re a human’ right?”
Isuna said and stared at San with a jittery look in her eyes.
“Past, you say… That was just a couple of days ago.”
“Long ago it was. Now that I recall, weren’t you the first one to say that?”
“Muu… That’s true, but it wasn’t as far-fetched as yours, Isuna-nee…”
“What’s with that look in your eyes…”
“Stop it, both of you. Stop fighting.”
I warned them that they had started a barren argument.
If the relationship between these sisters turned sour after they had gone to the trouble of admitting me, there would be nothing I could do.
「「Yes sensei.」」
Their replies overlap.
“And Isuna… It’s time for you to leave. This won’t help.”
“Ehh…!”
“Don’t ‘Ehh’ me.”
I said in a slightly stronger tone of voice, and Isuna moved away from me with a disgruntled look on her face.
“Also …I have a little favor to ask of you.”
“Ehh! What! What what?”
When I told her this, Isuna, who had been looking so downcast, instantly regained her energy.
Her black tail wagged from side to side as she tugged at my clothes with her hand, like a dog that knew it was time to go for a walk.
“Relax… I think it’s time to take San to the next level.”
“Ehh!? What!? What’s the next level?!”
Hearing this, San also stopped her hand and rushed toward me.
The number of big dogs increased to two.
“You calm down, too… The next level is to combine the physical arts with magic.”
“Ehh… I don’t like magic…”
Contrary to Isuna, San’s expression instantly changed from excited to unenthusiastic as soon as she heard the word ‘magic.’
She knew already that she was not good at magic, and that’s as far as she would go….
The elf race was supposed to be good at magic, but it seemed that San was an exception.
“You’ll never be strong if you keep running away from what you’re not good at.”
“Uhmm…”
“So what am I supposed to do?”
Isuna asked me, while San’s mouth was agape.
“I was wondering if you could give San a simple demonstration of magic.”
“Demonstration? That’s fine, but you know more about magic than I do…”
Isuna said this in a slightly puzzled tone, perhaps remembering what had happened at that time.
“No, my magic is honestly self-directed and quite messy, regardless of my simple ability. Your magic is cleaner and better suited to explain the basics.”
Isuna’s magic was so basic it could be put in a textbook.
“Cleaner is …. such a… exaggeration Heh, heh~~…if you insist that much then….”
Isuna put her hands on her cheeks in embarrassment, as if she was so happy to be praised by me.
“Then, please do it right away.”
“Yes, sensei.”
Isuna responded in a happy mood and set about getting ready.
I looked around the square and looked for a target that looked just right.
“That tree. Try to use some magic at that one, about.. three in a row.”
“All right.”
“Uhmm… Sensei? Do you mind if I watch too?”
As I was giving instructions to Isuna, Fia asked from the side.
“Yes, of course.”
Fia was not yet able to perform physical arts with magic, but it was fine for her to simply watch as an exercise in magic.
“It’s kind of strangely nerve-wracking….”
With San, Fia, and I watching over Isuna, she began to demonstrate her magic.
“You remember the process we went over in class yesterday regarding the use of magic, don’t you?”
When I asked the two spectators a question, Fia gave a small nod and San deliberately looked away.
“The first thing we need to do is to recognize the magic element. We sense the presence of magical elements in the atmosphere.”
For San, who didn’t seem to remember, I started explaining from scratch in accordance with Isuna’s magic.
Recognition did not mean using sense organs such as eyes and ears.
If I had to say so, I would say that we used our sixth sense to recognize the existence of something.
It was difficult at first, but once you had done it, you ould not even need to be aware of it.
At this point, there was no particular change in Isuna’s appearance.
“Next comes the reception of the magical element, which is the process of taking the magical element into one’s body.”
Rather than taking in, it might be more akin to removing the boundary between the magical element that existed there and one’s own body, which served as the vessel.
However, if I suddenly cramped too much into a sentence at once, it might be confusing, so I would leave it at that here.
The scale of magic depended on how much magical power could be accepted here.
The amount of magic power that could be taken in at one time could be likened to the lung capacity of a diver.
At this point, a flow of magical elements, a kind of atmospheric vortex, centered on Isuna began to form.
“Next comes the most important part of the process, the granting of magic and the linking of magic. We give attributes to the magical elements we have taken in and link them together.”
“Iguni Sajita Fuuga”
When Isuna chanted the three spell words, a magic circle appeared in front of her outstretched palm indicating that she had done so.
“Ugh~… that sounds difficult~!”
San saw it and screamed in anguish.
But there were only about two and a half more months to go before the deadline.
In that short period of time, she needed to learn at least the scale of magic that Isuna was currently exercising.
“Finally, we have amplification and then release.”
Using one’s own life force as a medium, it amplified the magical power generated within the body.
At this point, the atmospheric flow around Isuna was maximized, and her long, beautiful, dark green hair fluttered widely.
Immediately after, the completed spell was released.
The magic circle that appeared in front of Isuna glowed, and a single arrow of flame shot out from it.
What was exercised was a simplified version of the magic we saw that time.
The ejected arrow of flame flew in a straight line toward the target tree.
And when the distance to the target was about 10 meter―
A bush behind the tree shook and a shadow leaped out of it toward the front of the tree.
“Ehh!?”
Isuna screamed in surprise.
The small shadow wrapped in a robe also noticed the flaming arrow that was flying toward it after a moment’s delay.
“Femu!!”
I quickly gathered magical elements in my legs and ran toward the fifth lady who was standing dumbfounded in front of the tree.
There should have been no sign of any creature around the target, but why?
No, now is not the time to be thinking about such things.
Kicking the ground, I ran as fast as I could.
The distance to Femu’s location was still 30 meters.
The distance between the arrow and Femu was less than 5 meters.
I can’t make it in time.
The worst case scenario came to my mind.
I reached out toward her body, but it was nowhere close enough for me to reach.
The arrow reached Femu.
At that moment…
Without warning, the magic arrow vanished without a trace, as if vaporized.
