A Peaceful Everyday Life?
–Three days after the storm named “mother” passed.
Nothing major happened and our daily life was going on peacefully.
“In other words, magic is a general term for phenomena that utilize tiny invisible particles called magic elements that fill the atmosphere―”
With a textbook in hand, I gave a lecture on magic to the five students who were quietly listening to the lecture in front of me.
There was a wide gap in the level of understanding of magic among the five students, and I wondered where to begin the lecture, but I decided to start with the basics and make sure they had a solid foundation.
“San. What are the processes involved in practicing magic, and how would you categorize them broadly?” I asked San, who had the least understanding of magic of all of them, the most basic questions about magic.
“Sorry sir! I don’t know!”
“I know you’re in high spirits, but at least think a little more… Haven’t we just finished that the other day?”
“Because I didn’t understand~~…”
She really knew how to give me despair
San then threw her perfectly wholesome upper body onto the desk, her mouth agape with discontent.
Although she now listened to her classes every morning on the condition of attending practice, her comprehension was as bad as ever.
This was not much different from just listening from right to left and sleeping.
“And I’ve told you many times that it’s no good to just say right away that you don’t know before even trying. You have to get into the habit of thinking things through, even if you make mistakes. This is not only for classroom learning, but also for martial arts.”
“Yeesss….”
An unenthusiastic reply.
Does this person understand it or not…
“Well, then, Fia. Would you answer the question for me?”
“Uh… y-yes! Um, the process of exercising magic… process…”
“You can take your time.”
“Yes… um… first is the recognition of the magical element… isn’t it?”
I nodded lightly in reply to Fia, who glanced at me unsurely.
“And then, um…. demonic receptivity…”
Even though she was right, she repeatedly gave me unsure glances.
As for this girl, I had to deal with her lack of confidence first.
For that purpose, first of all, should I find a special skill that is second to none…?
“Then granting and linking…. uhmm then amplifying… and then ending with emitting…. is that correct?”
“Yeah, that’s correct.”
“Ha… thank goodness….” Fia exhaled loudly as she patted her chest and took her seat.
“The processes can be broken down into more detailed categories, but broadly speaking, they are the same as those just mentioned by Fia. The most important of them are said to be the granting and linking processes. Granting and linking are―”
Granting and linking refered to a series of steps to construct a single spell by associating one’s own thoughts and feelings with magical elements and giving attributes to the magical elements.
In other words, it was a process commonly known as chanting.
The runes were the verbalization of these thoughts and feelings.
I explained it to the five of them.
“Then the next question is going to be a little more challenging…”
I looked over at the five of them as I said this.
San closed her eyes and looked as if she was praying that she wouldn’t be the one who would have to guess the answer.
Fia had the same nervous look on her face, and Femme was alone reading her textbook.
So, the only one who seems to be able to answer was Anna…. or….
To the right of Anna, who was sitting with her back straight.
I moved my gaze to Isuna, who was staring blankly into space, as if she were out of her mind.
She had been like this since three days ago, the day Eshuru-san left.
She was not the kind of person that would show so much loneliness after her mother left, so there must be some other cause, but unfortunately I had no idea what it was.
I feared that she might stop attending classes, since the incident in the bathroom. But since she was here now, I had put my fears to rest. But if this continued, it would be the same as if she hardly attended any classes at all.
I had no choice but to force her to attend my classes.
“What’s most important in the linkage process? Isuna, do you know?”
I designated Isuna as the next person to respond to the question but,
“Isuna?”
Isuna was completely unaware that I had called her, and continued to stare blankly into space.
Her eyes never showed any of her usual high spirits.
“Isuna-ne? Your name has been called, you know?”
“Eh? What? My name is called?”
San, who was sitting next to her, poked her arm with her fingertips and then she finally realized what was happening.
“Do you know what is important in the process of linkage in the practice of magic?”
When I repeated the question again, Isuna stood up without any sign of defiance.
I was pleased in my heart that she was finally willing to take the lecture seriously.
It was something I had not yet taught her, but she should be able to answer my questions since she could already use even the 6th rank magic.
“Linkage….. What matters is… compatibility..” She answered in a dumbfounded tone of voice.
“Exactly! Correct. Look, each spell has its own type, and incompatible ones―”
“…Nke~~ Togeth…”
“Hmm? Isuna?”
Isuna was standing there mumbling something without being seated.
“Compatibility…Body… Connection… with a man…”
“O-oi… Isuna…? What happened?”
I stepped down from the podium and approached her, who was clearly acting strangely.
“Man’s…Bod… is… to such an extent…… scraggy… magnificent…”
“Oii, what happenedー?”
As she stood there, I stood across the small desk from her―
“Hiii!?”
She looked at me and took a step backward, her well-shaped face scrunched up.
Her black tail, which was usually wagging aimlessly, was moving wildly like an excited dog’s.
“-HHey …are you sure you’re okay?”
“I-I’m finuueen, Ahhh… a… ma…’s… ….”
Her words were meaningless and cryptic.
Her face was bright red, and she looked as if she was about to burst into flames.
Her eyes, wide opened and the same color as her hair in the center of her eyes, was wriggling impatiently.
It was clear that she was not in good physical condition.
“Are you okay? Did you catch a fever?”
Even though they were demons, their basic body structure was not very different from that of humans, so they could probably catch a cold.
With this in mind, I reached for her head.
“See, indeed you have a high fev—”
As soon as my palm touched her forehead, I felt a sweaty, sticky sensation and a body temperature so high that it almost burned me―
“Kyuuu….”
The same squeal was heard again, and Isuna’s body almost collapsed onto the floor.
“Hey! Isuna!?”
Before her body completely collapsed, I reached out her hand to support her.
The heat from the body was burning so hot that it almost burned, and was transmitted to my arms over my clothes.
“Isuna-ne?!”
“Isuna nee-san!?”
I saw this scene just a few days ago, but this time San and Fia also ran up to me.
Perhaps worried about the situation, Anna and Femme were also watching the scene from the side.
“Are you okay?” They called out to Isuna.
Her body soaked with sweat that a puddle could form in the valley of her large exposed twin hills.
“I’m finnn…ne …. Ah.. the ar….m… ….So.. hard …. Thick…. Meat…”
I really don’t have any idea what she’s really trying to say.
Arms? Meat?
“Can you two take her to her room? I’ll go report to Rosé.”
I asked San and Fia, and they nodded silently with worried expressions on their faces.
“Isuna-nee… come on, pull yourself together…”
“Mou… I c-chan’t… I… ahhhh~….”
Isuna grumbled and was carried to her room being supported by Fia and San.
