Magic Maker – How to make magic in another world –
Chapter 175 Honest feelings
Night. The garden of the Count’s residence.
I, Winona, and the Count were focused.
The Count widened his eyes and chanted a spell.
“Swiftly blaze, azure flame!”
Several red oral magical forces were born, converging into the Count’s hands. The magical forces merged into one and headed towards the tip of the Count’s thunderstone stone.
The Count used the thunder stone, creating sparks. The sparks met with the magical forces, giving birth to a blue flame. It was a flare. The dazzling blue flame rose to a height of about one meter, continued burning for a few seconds, and then disappeared.
“Flow as clear water, dance as water spirits, become rain to color the sky!”
Numerous aqua-colored magical forces emerged from Winona’s mouth. They lingered around, and several magical forces combined. Eventually, five or so baseball-sized magical forces were created, gathering small droplets of water.
The water, connected by surface tension, gradually grew into the size of a ping pong ball. The floating water sphere, Aqua, elegantly revolved around Winona.
I watched the Count and Winona, nodding approvingly as the beautiful water sphere illuminated the moonlit night, gradually losing its power and falling to the ground.
“Both of you did well with the magic.”
“T-Thank you, Shion sensei!”
“We did it! This is also thanks to you, Shion-sama!”
Both of them wore delighted smiles on their faces. Their genuine joy was so infectious that I couldn’t help but feel happy too. Their faces were beaming with joy.
Throughout the past six months, the two of them had consistently trained and showed significant growth. Initially struggling even to produce oral magical forces, they now could perform magic using incantations.
“Finally, we can use magic without fainting!”
“Indeed, at first, I would lose consciousness right away!”
Their total magical power had also increased. When using magic with incantations, the required magical power was generally less compared to non-incantation magic. However, without a minimum total magical power, they would still faint due to magic depletion.
Increasing the total magical power was a challenging task, similar to strength training. It was demanding to continue daily and could be tiring even in a state of rest, making the body sluggish after fainting. Like any workout routine, consistent effort was required, and it was easy to give up along the way.
Yet, they persevered and endured. The smiles on their faces now were the result of such dedicated efforts.
“Take a break today. You’ve both used magic several times.”
“Y-Yes… I’m starting to feel a bit lazy.”
“Well, you’ve come to understand your limits recently. It seems better to take a break. Then, let’s go to sleep tonight, following Shion sensei’s advice.”
“Yes, both of you rest well.”
“Well then, if you’ll excuse us.”
The Count, looking satisfied, fiddled with his beard and headed inside the house.
“Shion-sama, thank you again today!”
“Don’t worry about it. It’s beneficial for me as well. I’m happy when you two can use magic.”
This wasn’t just consideration; it was my genuine feeling. I had acquired the ability to use magic and desired to use it even more. However, I also remembered the frustration of not being able to use magic. That’s why I wanted everyone to use magic – I wanted them to experience this wonderful power.
Winona let out a small sigh and blushed.
“Y-You’re amazing, Shion-sama…”
“Eh!? W-Well, it’s not really…”
Despite her embarrassment, she conveyed her feelings straightforwardly. I could only feel bewildered by her posture.
Since my response to the confession, Winona had become more open about expressing her feelings. It made me both happy and embarrassed, leaving me in a state of confusion.
“U-Um, Shion-sama… W-Would you like to go somewhere together sometime? We’ve finished decoding the fairy language.”
“Go out…?”
“Y-Yes! If it’s alright with you!”
Winona leaned in close, asking with such eagerness. She seemed so proactive, a far cry from the Winona who used to be more reserved. However, I understood that this change was the result of her courage and effort. She must have faced various conflicts to reach this point.
“W-Well, um, this is more like… not exactly dating but more like… I just want to be with you. Is that… okay?”
Winona glanced up at me with a shy expression.
If this was her natural self, she possessed an incredible talent. Even if she was intentionally doing this, the fact that she wanted to go out with me made me happy. I had asked Winona to wait for me for two and a half years. However, that didn’t mean she had to keep a certain distance during that time. If we spent special moments together, perhaps my feelings might change, and there could come a time when I recognized romantic emotions. So, this wasn’t a violation of the rules. Moreover, Winona hadn’t made such invitations for the past six months, perhaps to avoid interfering with my feelings. I understood that she had been waiting for me. If that was the case, my answer was already determined.
“Yeah, let’s do it.”
“R-Really!?”
“Shall we go somewhere together?”
Winona blinked her eyes rapidly but gradually relaxed her expression. How beautifully she smiled.
“Y-Yes! Let’s go out together!”
“Shall we decide on the place and time later?”
“Y-Yes, of course! Well then, I’ll be going now…”
Winona rushed away but stopped in front of the entrance, turned around, and said, “Well, see you tomorrow!”
“Yeah, see you tomorrow,” I replied, waving my hand as she smiled.
As soon as the door closed with a thud, I collapsed on the spot.
“Kuaaa!”
I fell to the ground and rolled around. Some impulse surged from within me, moving my body. What on earth was that cute creature? Did it actually exist? Or was it a fairy-like being?
“Haa haa haa!”
Finally, after being tormented by palpitations and breathlessness, my movements ceased. Looking up at the night sky, I took a deep breath one last time.
“What am I doing…?” I murmured in a self-deprecating tone and remained there, unable to move for a while.
