It was the rainy season.

I was cycling home from school, wearing rain gear and getting drenched by the heavy downpour.

I took off my raincoat and handed it to him. The boy quietly accepted it but continued to stare at the raincoat in fascination, showing no signs of putting it on.

“You’re not going to help me put it on?”

He extended his arms to make it easier to put on the sleeves, indicating that he wasn’t used to dressing himself.

I helped him put on the raincoat and hurried home.

The boy needed help putting on the raincoat, so it was obvious that he wouldn’t be able to take a bath by himself. I ended up joining him in the bath.

After getting out of the bath, I put my pajamas on the boy and led him to the living room. We sat facing each other, and I introduced myself.
