Chapter 68: Encounters and Misfortunes Comes Without a Notice
It was the rainy season.
I was cycling home from school, wearing rain gear and getting drenched by the heavy downpour.
“Whoa!”
On the way home from school, the chain on my bike slipped, and the pressure on the pedals disappeared. Cursing my bad luck, I got off the bike and started walking.
I remembered that there was a familiar park nearby, so I headed there, hoping to shelter from the rain and fix the chain.
But when I took a closer look at my bicycle, I realized that the chain wasn’t just off; it was broken.
There was no way I could fix this.
“Hey, you over there.”
Just as I was about to push my bike home, a voice called out from behind me.
It wasn’t the high-pitched voice of a young woman, so I instinctively turned around, thinking, ‘A man?!’ like the ordinary women in this world.
And what appeared in my field of vision was a boy with short sky-blue hair and beautiful blue eyes. He was wearing a dress adorned with luxurious accessories, as if he were attending a noble’s party.
He was definitely the son of some noble family.
Why on earth was he here?
“With that appearance, even in the rain, people might think you’re asking to be attacked. Call your companion and go home quickly.”
“I don’t care.”
“That so.”
He responded with a sullen look, clearly holding some kind of grudge. However, he was already soaked from the rain, and his underwear was visible through his wet clothes. I didn’t feel right about leaving him in this state.
“Staying in those wet clothes is bad for your health. Why don’t you come to my house and take a bath?”
I decided to offer him a ride home, even though it was a long shot.
“…”
“You don’t have to come if you don’t want to. I just met you, and if you don’t like it, I’ll just go home.”
“I’ll go.”
“Okay, then put on my raincoat so you don’t get any wetter.”
“Okay.”
I took off my raincoat and handed it to him. The boy quietly accepted it but continued to stare at the raincoat in fascination, showing no signs of putting it on.
“You’re not going to help me put it on?”
“… Okay.”
“N…”
He extended his arms to make it easier to put on the sleeves, indicating that he wasn’t used to dressing himself.
I helped him put on the raincoat and hurried home.
The boy needed help putting on the raincoat, so it was obvious that he wouldn’t be able to take a bath by himself. I ended up joining him in the bath.
“By the way, you agreed to come with me quite easily.”
“Well, your hair is long, but your gaze was completely different. Everyone else looks at me with bloodshot eyes, but your gaze was warm and gentle, and your voice was different too.”
“I see.”
“But… what’s with your stomach? It’s all bumpy.”
“I’m just well-built. So, stop poking me.”
Even after getting into the bathtub, the boy didn’t stop poking me.
Were six-pack abs that rare?
“Anyway, I’m Kinoshita Yuuto. What’s your name?”
After getting out of the bath, I put my pajamas on the boy and led him to the living room. We sat facing each other, and I introduced myself.
“I don’t want to tell you.”
He turned his face away with a pout, clearly not wanting to reveal his name. I had no idea why he had run away.
“Well, I guess it doesn’t matter since we’re only spending the day together. There’s no point in me knowing your name.”
However, without knowing his name, I had no idea who to contact to pick him up. Forcing him to tell me didn’t feel right, and I wasn’t sure what to do.
“But, Yuuto, nice to meet you.”
“Yeah, nice to meet you too. So, is there anything you want to do?”
“Hmm, I’m hungry.”
“Okay, let’s make something. What do you want to eat?”
“Okonomiyaki.”
“Eh? Do I even have the ingredients right now…?”
That aside, he’s a noble, isn’t he?
“Quickly find that child!”
“B-but, we’ve been jammed by an unknown source, and the search for him is taking longer than expected!”
“Keep looking! He can’t have gone far! Deploy personnel to the surrounding areas as well!”
“Y-yes, ma’am!”
“Calm down, Adriana. It’s no use getting angry here.”
“You’re right, Erina.”
“But your excellent identification team is taking so long. It’s clear that an organization is involved.”
“If something happens to that child, I…”
“I’ll lend you all the power I have. We’ll definitely find him.”
“Yes.”
“Oh? A Call? From Yuuto-kun ?Hello? Is that you, Yuuto-kun? I’m busy right now, can I call you back later?”
“I just want to ask one thing. Do you know any young male nobles with sky-blue hair and blue eyes?”
“Huh?”
“It’s okay if you don’t know.”
“Where are you now?”
“I’m at home. I’m lying in bed.”
“I’ll come right away.”
“Okay.”
“Adriana, go fetch him now.”
“Eh? Where is he?”
“It seems he’s currently with an acquaintance.”
“Then why was there jamming?”
“Because that person is a world-famous man. It seems he unknowingly made an enemy of a country.”
“A man? I’ll send my unit there immediately.”
“Yes, do that.”
(It’s a dilemma whether this is a fortunate or unfortunate encounter for Yuuto-kun.)
“This is Alpha. We have neutralized the suspected kidnapper and successfully rescued His Highness Agrius! There was no sign of a male accomplice.”
“Say what?”
Erina was about to lose her temper.
