Living Normally In An Abnormal World - Chapter 63.2: Idle Talk: Valentine's Day
Chapter 63.2: Idle Talk: Valentine’s Day
“Glauzer! Here, take this chocolate!”
“Satoru-kun, on Valentine’s Day, women are the ones who give chocolate to men, you know?”
“Huh? Is that so? But it’s just a small thing, right? I want to give it to Glauzer, whom I love so much!”
“Wow, okay…”
Dear someone, somewhere. Tomochoco, or friendship chocolate, can be quite sweet, huh. But when someone other than Yuuna or Mana confesses their love so straightforwardly, I can’t help but feel embarrassed.
Today is Saturday.
Satoru-kun couldn’t wait any longer, so he… brought me to his house. Yes, as soon as I opened the door at our house, the servant and Satoru-kun shoved me into a car.
I’ve been visiting them frequently, but he still complains that it’s not enough. During the weekdays, I’m at school. On Sundays, I train with Erina. So, the only free day I have is Saturday. However, we didn’t really have any plan to play over today, so I was essentially kidnapped.
Satoru-kun said it was a surprise. But I wish he would consider Mana and Yuuna, who always have to come with me.
Well, lately, I’ve gotten used to it, and I just sigh.
“Glauzer, you like me, right?”
“Yeah, I love you too, Satoru.”
“Really? Yay! So, we’re mutually in love!”
“No, it’s not love, it’s mutual admiration.”
“Then, we’re mutually admiring each other!”
“Yes, we are!”
“So, can I return the favor on White Day?”
“Yeah!”
February 14th, a day that needs no introduction—Valentine’s Day. It’s one of my traumas (self-inflicted).
In this life, I don’t want to eat anything sweet anymore.
But I can’t refuse or not eat the chocolate that Satoru-kun gave me. I have no choice but to endure and eat it.
“I heard you don’t like sweets, so I made 100% cacao chocolate for you!”
“Satoru-kun, you’re an angel.”
I stroke the head of the angel in front of me. I never thought a male angel could exist.
“Really? Am I?”
“Yes, I guarantee it.”
The angel in front of me smiles shyly.
“Yuuto-san.”
“Haruki-san, what’s wrong…?”
“No, I’m not worried about anything at all. Really, there’s no problem. It’s not like I’m thinking about how the chocolate he gave you was bigger than what he gave to me or anything childish like that.”
“You’re totally thinking that.”
When it comes to Satoru-kun, Haruki-san smiles with a hint of jealousy even with just such small gestures. I can’t help but think that one day, she might stab me.
“Glauzer, Glauzer! Today, you have to play games with me!”
“Okay, okay.”
“Come on, hurry up!”
Satoru-kun forcefully pulls me and leads me inside the house.
The reason he holds my hand is that I got lost once. Right now, the only place I can navigate in the Toudou residence is the bathroom.
Then, I’m led to a room and sit in front of the TV. When I sit down, Satoru-kun sits on my lap and leans back against me.
“Glauzer! I’m good at games too!”
“I’m good at them too.”
“You’re so confident! I’ll crush those words!”
“Hmm…”
As a result…
“Glauzer, I hate you.”
“Well, yeah. You said to not hold back, it can’t be helped”
“I thought you were just trying to hone your skills, but you’re quite a gamer.”
“Sorry, I’m not just a musclehead. But please stop punching my stomach.”
Every time he loses, he hits my stomach a few times without saying a word, filled with frustration. I thought it was a cute child’s behavior, but he hits quite hard, and all his punches are aimed at my solar plexus.
Since I’m the one he’s hitting, he doesn’t hold back at all.
It hurts quite a bit.
“Hmm, evil must be eradicated.”
Glauzer is on the enemy side, but he’s not evil.
“Then, I’ll avenge you.”
“Yes, Mom! Do it!”
“Yuuto-san, I’ll crush you.”
“Haruki-san, you’re holding a grudge.”
“Yes, of course.”
As a result…
“No way, you’re too strong.”
“Well, you can’t beat the power of love.”
No, that’s clearly personal resentment, right?
I, the loser, was quite immersed in the game, so losing feels genuinely frustrating. As I was thinking this, Satoru-kun looked up at me. I thought he would be happy, but…
When I asked him…
“Glauzer, why do you wear a mask when you meet me?”
…he asked me this question.
“Because you call me Glauzer, Satoru-kun.”
“Oh, I see. You don’t want your identity to be revealed!”
“No, if you call me by my name, I don’t need to wear a mask anymore.”
Whether I wear a mask or not, Satoru-kun calls me Glauzer. He often gets photographed by the paparazzi when he’s out. If someone calls me Glauzer in public, my identity will definitely be exposed to the world. I want to avoid that.
“I don’t feel right calling you ‘Kinoshita’ or ‘Yuuto’ either.”
“How rude. You’re a bad kid.”
“Yeah!”
He says this with an innocent and carefree smile, so I put down the controller I was holding and pinch his cheeks.
“Hehehe!”
Satoru continues to laugh. I can’t help but smile behind my mask.
And Haruki-san watched us with a gentle smile.
If a stranger saw us, they would undoubtedly think we were a family—a parent and child, siblings, or a couple playing with their child. (T/N: Yo, mah man playing with his friend’s Mom!)
