Chapter 42: The Exiled Marquis’ Daughter and the Magical Wilderness, Part 5
Maybe I can touch it?
The high-density mass of magic was so intense that it seemed almost tangible to me.
Was it planning to blast the ground beneath it, even at the risk of self-destruction? Quite bold for a Lord.
If the Dragon Breath hits the ground directly beneath it, not only I but also Erika and Shara, who were about twenty steps away, would be caught in the blast. I couldn’t let that happen.
As I thought about this, my body moved before my mind caught up. I kicked the Forest Dragon’s belly, sliding my body under its jaw.
I pushed my body enhancement to its limit, feeling the magic mix with my breath.
The Forest Dragon didn’t seem to care about me anymore.
It was determined to blow everything away with its Breath, no matter what.
I caught the moment when the almost tangible magic began to transform.
I realized my body had moved before my mind did, right after I swung my sword.
The Forest Dragon’s lower jaw clashed with its upper jaw.
Seeing the Forest Dragon’s head pointed straight up, I thought I had succeeded.
I assumed the Breath would either misfire or be released harmlessly into the sky.
The next moment, what happened before my eyes greatly unsettled me.
After a brief pause, the Forest Dragon’s cheeks puffed up, then burst, scattering the Breath in all directions.
Multiple streams of thin Breath scattered like a fountain, raining down and causing explosions everywhere.
In terms of the damage area, it might have been better to let it release the Breath as usual.
Oh no.
I thought this as my feet finally touched the ground.
Turning to check if Erika and Shara were safe, I saw a scene more astonishing than the scattering Breath.
Erika Solnzari, amidst the destruction, calmly intercepted the incoming fragments of Breath with precise magic.
Even though the fragments of Breath were far more powerful than ordinary magic, Erika effortlessly intercepted and neutralized them, multiple at once.
Bathed in the golden glow of her magic and the destructive white light, Erika smiled like a legendary hero.
While admiring Erika, I was equally impressed by Shara.
Despite the explosions happening all around, she continued chanting her spell without interruption.
This is the same girl who, even while gravely injured, faced a Golden Ogre.
Her determination was on another level, and the slight rolling of her eyes was probably just my imagination.
I let my guard down out of relief.
I regretted this as I spun three times through the grass, scattered by the explosions.
On the fifth spin, I forcibly planted my sword into the ground, pinning myself down.
I knew this would put me in a disadvantageous position, but it allowed me some leeway as the Forest Dragon’s foreleg came at me.
Even so, I didn’t have enough time to fully dodge.
I managed to wedge my sword between its claws and my body, only to be sent flying again.
