Let me be a mob! - Chapter 93- Worn out
[Jin’s POV: ]
It wasn’t too complicated to think why Baron Arkum Carter had come to visit me. The man didn’t have any affection for me since the start and I never bothered asking him the reason for it.
After transmigration, I spent only a few days around the man so I didn’t get to know him much through my own eyes. Jin Carter was never a character of this world so having information about the Baron was not in my spectrum of knowledge. But seeing him currently sitting in the administration office, told me something explicitly about this old guy.
He really is a selfish bastard.
Arkum Carter was the man who released the wanted poster all over his territory when I beat the crap out of his young brats. And now, he’s sitting here like he’s such a caring father who wants to make sure I was doing fine in the Academy.
He knows that I will become a presentable figure in the future if I don’t perish within the schooling years and graduate from Excalius. So to maintain a public image, he showed his face today.
“How have you been, Jin?” His tone was stoic as ever which was a little surprising since I hoped he would fly in concern and say something out of his character.
“I am doing fine, Father. Sudden visit…is everything alright back at home?”
I had no reason to start any mock battle with him despite I knew he wouldn’t do anything to harm me. Or to say, he couldn’t.
Maybe it was because of the animosity the previous Jin held for his family or the fact that this man was hunting me once when I left the Carter house was making me slightly annoyed seeing him here.
“I see that your hatred hasn’t reduced even a bit in the meantime when you were away from us. ”
Was I being too expressive? It didn’t matter since I didn’t have anything to do with the Carter family, to begin with.
The time I left the house I decided I would never return to the place where I had been discriminated against and tortured for years and even got killed by my dear elder brother. It was kind of the last wish of my predecessor.
“I won’t ask for your forgiveness, nor would I keep any hopes from you. Even though I never encouraged the suffering you had to face because of your adopted status in the family, I never did anything to stop it either so it’s pretty understandable why you feel so sick of me. ”
It was the first time I had heard the Baron talking this much. But what surprised me was the fact that Baron wasn’t trying to earn any cookie points here and laying all the facts that we both were already aware of.
I remained silent as the man before me continued, “I won’t ask you to come back home and see us once in a while but if possible, try to live a happy life with the person whom you can trust and love regardless of your circumstances.”
I allowed the man to pat me on my shoulder before he got up from his seat.
I remained seated since my mind was kind of mashed up with this strangely awkward one-sided conversation we had.
Baron Arkum remained standing for a moment before he planted a small chest box that could fit the size of a palm, over the table.
I turned my head to look at the box in perplexion but before I could say something Baron Arkum turned away and just when he was about to walk out, his faint voice was picked up by my heightened senses.
“…sorry for being a failure as your father, Jin. ”
And with that, he left.
I didn’t know what was going on back at home but from his tone, it felt I was not going to see the Baron or my adoptive family again.
I remained seated there for a while before informing the administrator that the cabin was no longer in use.
Walking out of the block, I began walking toward my dorm. The box Baron left behind was in my left hand, not sure whether I would open it any time soon.
There were many things on my plate already and this new family situation arose out of nowhere.
It has already been over a month since that Crimson Witch visited the school and announced how she desperately trying to find the person who killed the Faceless a.k me. I need to handle that situation before a massive battle ensues and engulfs those people in it, who have nothing to do with the incident at all.
Then comes my future self and the rune stone my supposed daughter gave me. I haven’t begun assimilating the rune stone yet. I need to work on my spiritual as well as Amanda’s secret sword art training. There was that test in a week as well for which I needed to convince the three girls to form a party with me and Aiden and train with them to elevate our team battle experience to pass the test. Not to talk about the work as a class representative as well.
And to add fuel to the already burning flames, this chest box was left by my adoptive father…
“*Sigh* What am I doing… “My feet, which were about to enter the dorm building came to a halt.
Truth be told, my mind was torn. A lot to ponder and so little time to sort everything out. The time when I found myself in this world, I didn’t know I would stand at such a worn-out point.
‘Like this…I won’t be able to take a wink of sleep… ‘
Turning my feet I began walking toward the gym. If I can’t think of anything straight, it’s best to burn some calories and separate myself from reality, even just for a few hours.

Later on that afternoon, a pair of beautiful ladies could be seen walking around the campus anxiously. The people who came across them couldn’t take their eyes off the two, however, the attention didn’t bother them even for a bit.
Their primary concern remained in searching for a certain guy who promised to meet them nearly an hour ago in the cafeteria.
“You think he’s still sleeping?” Dia asked as they looked for Jin in the front campus and the classroom but he wasn’t anywhere.
“Possibly. Though I thought he might not sleep after the meeting he had to attend in the morning, I couldn’t be sure since Jin was extremely tired in the morning. “Fiona seemed a little agitated by the fact that Jin had to meet the professor just after arrival.
He wasn’t able to rest in the carriage on the way back to the academy and back in the dungeon city, Jin had to undergo Amanda’s weird training module.
The two women walked toward the boy’s dorm only to see a frowning Aiden walking out of the building.
Before either of them could have asked anything, Aiden spoke in a severe tone, “Jin hasn’t returned to the dorm after the meeting. I asked the dorm in charge and he said he saw him walking to and fro for a while around the place but he never entered the dorm, at all. ”
…this was a lot concerning.
Aiden thought about it for a moment before he suggested, “Should we look for him in the gym? ”
Despite it might sound ridiculous to think that Jin would be exercising even though he was so tired from the journey, the possibility wasn’t completely zero as well.
Fiona along with Dia and Aiden dashed toward the gym and upon arrival, they witnessed a shocking sight.
“Jin… ” Jin was panting heavily with lots of bruises and marks over his body but the frightening part of this situation was the girl lying at his feet was none other than…
“Rena… ”

A/N: – Jin’s approach would change a bit but I won’t make him a cold-blooded bastard or something.
There would be character development for every main character.
