Let me be a mob! - Chapter 91- He\'s mine!
“Once again, I would like to extend my utmost gratitude and appreciation for the efforts you two young men have made to save so many lives. If not for you two, we might have lost many important pillars of the academy and many youths would have met their end. ”
It was early in the morning after the first and third-year students returned to the academy when Amanda, Jin, and Aiden were summoned to the principal’s office.
This situation arose because of the incident that occurred on the first night of the expedition. The appearance of a Lord Rank demon and how every citizen of the Dungeon City was under threat.
“We did what anyone would have done, headmaster. ” It was not Jin who replied and he was thankful for his friend to take the lead to respond at times like these.
Jin was more suited to brief conversation without gathering much attention to him yet here more than five pairs of eyes were looking at the three, with varying expressions.
Professor Lisa had a proud look adorning her violet eyes as she sat back in her chair while resting her hands over her lap. Despite the fact she was excessively anxious after hearing about the whole situation firsthand from Aiden and Jin, at the moment, she seemed much more calm.
Reason?
The white-bearded old man finally returned to the school and heard everything regarding the matter. Until the headmaster was involved, Lisa could at least take it easy.
“My gratitude means nothing in front of the bravery you both have shown. If it’s in my power then tell me if I could return the favor in any manner.”
The old headmaster insisted since the goodwill of the two young individuals forwarded to the academy was nothing short of incredible and praiseworthy. Not only did they take care of the demon but they also ensured every single citizen and academy member’s safety.
However, from Aiden’s perspective, they didn’t do anything in greed of some kind of reward or something so he naturally was about to turn the offer down.
But, “If you really are considering allowing us some kind of reward, then I request a weekly expedition allotment. ”
The office room fell into heavy silence hearing Jin’s sudden request. It came out even more surprising since he hadn’t spoken a single word after walking into this place.
Lisa’s smug front broke as she realized how absurd of a request her student just now asked for. Amanda barely held herself from smirking and Aiden seemed equally baffled as some of the professors in the room.
“By weekly allotment…you aren’t meaning to the expedition which only third-year students are allowed to venture, are you? “The redhead professor of the third year spoke up with a frown marring his face.
Only the students of the third year were permitted to access the dungeons which the academy manages. This helps them grow naturally through practical situations and life-threatening circumstances.
Although it was supervised by the instructors, it doesn’t mean no one has ever lost their life in the regular dungeons. And considering the dungeons that the academy had in possession were far more dangerous than the one they faced in the dungeon city, Jin’s request seemed even more absurd.
“Is it a lot to ask for?” Under heavy pressure from Brian’s questioning or more like warning gaze, Jin held his stance and asked in a neutral tone.
He had something else in mind as well if his first request got rejected but fortunately, the headmaster seemed, at least, not averse to the very idea.
“Even if I allow student Jin to enter the dungeons… “Hearing the headmaster’s words, Brian shifted in his seat uncomfortably but the old man continued regardless, “…there remains the necessity to pick at the very least, four more members to enter as a party.”
Jin held back his smile as he replied in a confident tone, “I already have people in mind who would perform well if they coordinate with each other. And considering their desire to become stronger just like me, they would agree to my proposal right away. All I need is the Headmaster’s seal of approval. ”
It wasn’t very difficult for Aiden to realize who these people were, but honestly, he doubted whether one of the said people would really agree to dive into such dangerous places where one could lose their life as readily as spreading butter over bread.
Brian didn’t say anything but he clearly seemed against the request since more than the wastage of school resources, the person who might get involved in Jin’s farce would be none other than the special Five-attribute-holding hero and the person currently standing beside Jin.
Brian wasn’t sure about whom Jin was talking about when he affirmed that he had people to form a party with him, but Brian was mostly concerned about Aiden’s safety.
Regardless, everyone remained silent and the only person who raised their voice was the supreme authority holder of the Academy.
“I would gladly grant you and your team the opportunity to participate in the raids, however…”Jin knew this was coming so he patiently waited as the old man soon continued, “…you have to prove that you and your team are well prepared to face danger under an unsupervised environment.”
Jin frowned hearing the unclear words that the headmaster, Erwin soon finished.
“After one week of preparation time, you and your party would have to go through a test which Professor Brian would conduct. The maximum number of members you may include is ten and the minimum count is well already known. Is the arrangement acceptable?”
Even though the headmaster asked such, Jin knew, upon showing reluctance or complaining here would immediately dissolve this whole proposal altogether.
So with a soft smile, he nodded as his reply followed soon after, “Thank you for your kindness, Headmaster. ”
The atmosphere lightened up a bit after that. Brian looked already confident in his skills to fail the first years but Jin had the perfect plan to invest in the main cast.
Jin and Aiden thought their work here was finished so they could return to their dorm and sleep for some more hours but then suddenly, “Now about the matter concerning both of you regarding the demise of Phil Zaelensccop. ”
There was no sense of remorse or sadness in the old man’s tone whatsoever, making it difficult for Jin to discern what the headmaster was thinking at the moment when he mentioned the bespectacled Vice-President whom Aiden and Jin killed recently.
Aiden looked uncomfortable hearing that name and so did Lisa.
“You both are aware of the identity of Phil’s father, right?”
Jin and Aiden nodded after glancing at each other for once. The infamous ruler of the black market and a renowned trader—Zerebus Zaelensccop was the person who made even the headmaster seem uneasy about the matter.
“The academy would provide the security necessary for the students from any external danger but for assurance, I would like you two to receive training under the direct tutelage of our best instructors. ”
“I’ll have that one.” The blue-haired young lady, Sasha Williams who’s one of the primary instructors of the first year licked her lips before pointing her index finger in Jin’s direction.
Jin raised his brows since he expected someone to be this enthusiastic about Aiden. But soon his surprise turned into confusion as he sensed sudden killing intent from his left where Amanda stood.
Everyone in the room turned their gaze to the president of the student council, who had been silently standing at a side wordlessly until now.
And the first set of words she spoke made everyone surprised, and Jin was profoundly shocked.
“Jin is mine. Don’t even think of taking him away.”
