Let me be a mob! - Chapter 74- Screw the plot!
[Jin’s POV:]
‘Something is wrong… ‘
Currently, I along with Aiden was engaged in battle with the wild beasts, annihilating whatever was nearing the perimeter of the main city.
I could not use any mass area Spirit spell since it takes a lot of load on my body. And since Aiden was assisting me, it was relatively easier to deal with these mindless beasts.
All we had to do was to find a blind spot or do something spontaneous at the brink of first contact and that was enough to make even these B-rank beasts clueless about what to do, resulting in our easy victory.
I was saving my energy and using mostly my daggers to slay the danger since who knows when the Demon would appear.
However, what was troubling me, was the fact that all these monsters were not heading toward the city borders which I initially presumed.
From what I remember, in the main story, Aiden kept fighting many low-grade demons and beasts to protect the school before he faced Pharoh. But here, all the beasts were solely focused on us. And more so, the East side of the forest entrance which I froze, had some remaining creatures left, and now, they weren’t entering the city which would have been the obvious course of action for them, but what those beasts doing to is to travel all the way to this West side and engage in battle with us.
*Crackle*
**BOOOOMM**
With fierce lightning enshrouding the protagonist, all the nearby beasts were roasted as Aiden landed beside me. There were hundreds of corps already laying around but still a hefty amount of foes were still there to deal with.
“Hey, Jin…demons can’t appear on the other side until the Barrier of the Seven Sages is tampered right?”
“Yup…that’s what makes this more so vexing. We still haven’t seen the main boss, yet.”
I have tried looking for Pharoh while on the way to the West gate but nothing concrete came out. My senses were flaring since demonic energy was vastly different from pure mana which creates a repulsive sensation. And when a demon sovereign is-
‘Wait…he’s a demon lord…he doesn’t need to manifest himself directly here…rather…’
A chill ran down my spine as soon I realized something. Something I should have guessed from the beginning yet I was too focused on the canon events and how things went in the story, to think anything realistically.
“Hey, Aiden. That bespectacled Vice-president…where was he locked up again…?”
I asked, in a condensed tone only to hear a response for which I was not prepared.
“In the teacher’s block.”
Wordlessly, I turned on my feet before darting away from the city border, toward the motel where I have shifted all the students along with the teachers.
I did not respond to any of Aiden’s calls and marched at my maximum speed toward the destination.
I was inwardly praying that nothing would have happened and my fear turns uncalled for. I begged god to not let anything happen to anyone just because I was playing genius and regarded myself as an all-knower.
**SHLICK**
*CRACK*
My foot slipped but the inertia of my body was enough to break apart the main entrance. I did not wait there to check up on my leg and went toward the first floor where all the students and Professors were kept.
*GASP*
My breath was choked in my throat as I found blood dripping down the stairs. Following the trail, I found a pool of blood spread outside the room where I have put everyone.
My mind was in turmoil. I have barely felt like this before. All my prayers and begging seemed to have no effect since once I parted the door the sight which greeted me, was something I never wanted to witness.
My legs felt weak, my scalp turned cold, eyes widened to their farthest reach.
Before I knew I found myself kneeling down at my place. My pants got soaked in blood as my eyes remained fixed on the people whom once I called my seniors, classmate, professor…or lover.
‘F…ion…a… ‘
Every single person was beheaded and the first person on whom my eyes landed was none other than the girl whom I swear to protect just this afternoon.
Dia, Silvie, Rena, Professor Lisa, Maegen…no one was spared. Every person had their head separated from their body mercilessly.
Just because…I was careless and overconfident in myself, this happened…
“Kukuku~What do we have her-”
My arm which was engulfed with Wind Spirit’s ariel blade bisected the bastard Pharoh who has conjured himself using Phil, into two halves.
I was not in the mood to hear his bullshit nonsense.
Rising to my feet, I looked down at the ashen body of Phil who still had a cocky smile on his lips. Due to now being the vessel of a Demon, his death would not be allowed in either hell or heaven.
Anger was boiling up more than ever. This might be the first time when I have felt this much anger but I sacrificed my impulsive emotion to torture the bastard since my priority lies in something else.
I cannot delay anymore or I might never be able to bring anyone back to life.
However, before I jump on anything, I need a strong ally who would be able to stop Pharoh. Naturally, there was no one else other than Aiden to depend on, for this.
But the fact that he already suspects me would push me into more trouble afterward if I uncover more facts in front of him, which I was not supposed to know.
‘But I have got no other option…’ Gritting my teeth I glanced once again at the fallen head of Fiona whose lifeless eyes were staring at me. A stinging sensation spread across my chest but I held the emotion in.
I cannot allow myself to waver here or postpone any longer.
Whether Aiden suspects me or announces me as a foe, doesn’t matter anymore. The plot can now get screwed up, I care none of it. I just need to save Fiona and for that, anything is acceptable.
‘Wait for me, Fiona… ‘
