Let me be a mob! - Chapter 68- Seven Sages
The Seven Sages.
The pillars of the human realm and the barricades that hold eternal darkness from taking over the world.
Demons have dwelled amongst the masses since ancient times. They always were here, annihilating whatever came their way, destroying families, and massacring innocents. They cared about nothing other than food, mate, and destruction. Total animalistic facets.
The scale of devastation was soaring high, centuries ago. At those times a hero rose from the dust and wielded the holy sword to bring down the Demon Monarch and the one who was on the verge of attaining immortality. Once the Demon Lord would have obtained eternal life, nothing could have come in its way, and this world would have gotten entirely polluted by darkness.
Fortunately, the Legendary Hero did not let such an occurrence arrive, and he brought the biggest threat down to its knees and provided every creation to live their lives in peace.
However, if God and Goddess are there for humanity and the Spirits were being prayed by the Elves then there were Devils as well, who took charge of aiding the Demons and lending them the Dark Energy through which the Demon Lord hailed his rule for years.
Naturally, when the Hero decided to end it once and for all by bisecting every demon from existence, the threat from the underworld arose. The Hero blessed by the Supreme Goddess was of course not prepared to fight such entities resulting in a treaty to be signed between the three races.
A force field was drawn by which the three races were separated from each other and seven guardians were given the blessings to maintain this barrier from falling. If any of these seven falls in battle or dies of some unnatural disease, without handing forward their mantle, then the barrier might get weakened.
This ritual of transference of Sage arts has been in practice since the era when for the first time deities of all three races descended to form this peaceful arrangement.
However, this contract doesn’t involve that if by chance the barrier crumbles no one would be allowed to take any action. In other words, if any of the three divisions fail to protect their barrier, the other two have no restriction from overtaking it. This was something the Devil Lord decided and others have to accept the term in return for the Legendary Hero’s life.
But to maintain the balance there were still options to connect the two worlds, however, they can be manipulated from either side so that was a temporary passageway and nothing to fret about.
It was given that all the Seven Sages would be preserved and admired by the masses since not only did they retain the blessings of more than one higher being but they also share the responsibility to maintain the serenity of this world.
And the Headmaster of the Excalius Academy is also one of the Seven Legendary Sages.
…and the oddest one as well.

[Jin’s POV:]
“But still…how the heck he was not suspected by the headmaster?”
It was already dawn when everything settled so without eating anything fancy on the roast we decided to resume the journey. We were sharing the carriage in mixed fashion with Aiden and Emily with the prisoners in the second one and the rest in the front carriage.
The aforementioned query was raised by the only third-year present in the coach but by the looks of it, no one knew the answer to it. If anyone then it must be Maegen who should have known why even the Great Sage was unable to detect the dark mage in the academy.
Well, they don’t know that there is more than one actually. Or to be precise, a whole group of blood supremacists who are involved in the criminal act of performing diabolic rituals.
Leave the students, what if they hear that the Headmaster himself is involved with Dark Magic…
“I think he’s mostly busy with the Guardian work and also after the demise of his successor, he must be training a new one.”
Rena’s opinion was right on the spot. But there were still some missing pieces.
It was true that the person who was supposed to take over the role of Sage in place of Headmaster died three years ago and that let for the old man to walk on the path which had no return. However, the reason he never caught any dark mage on campus stems from the fact that his true form was never present for years except for some weeks ago when the Crimson Demon arrived and Principal had to return with his true form.
If the words go out, the world council would fall into the heavy burden and the pride of the Seven Sages would get tainted in the books of history.
For the purpose because of which the Headmaster accepted Darkness might become the reason for the downfall of humanity if things don’t proceed according to the plot. I mean I already have screwed the plotline but still, the necessary events that can prevent the world from falling into eternal chaos, can be manipulated.
“But still…it seems too unrealistic to believe…”
The carriage became silent after that as we moved further toward our destination.
“Hmm?” Suddenly I felt a weight pressed over my shoulder before I turned to find Silvie peacefully sleeping while leaning on me.
Her spell was working fine even though she was no longer conscious which tells how wonderful mage she is. Even I cannot maintain my spell once I fall asleep, but this girl…
“Thankfully Fiona didn’t see you guys like this…”
Rena mused with a teasing grin. I wanted to roll my eyes or maybe change the topic but it was too late.
“Fiona? Fiona Lukehart? Are they dating?”
Senior Maegen perked and it was not surprising that she knew Fiona since Maegen also belongs to the political background.
I was about to reply but how can I dare beat Miss Big Mouth?
“It’s Fiona who is chasing him but the way things are proceeding and also how Jin was getting cozy with Fiona in the morning yesterday, I think the ship is about to sail. And you know…”
And just like that, our journey finally came to an end.

A/N: – Sorry for the info dumps but it was necessary.
The story of the Headmaster would get detailed so don’t worry if you didn’t get the full picture of why he became a Dark Mage.
Now some romance and character build-up would take place as the arc continues.
