Let me be a mob! - Chapter 66- Objective?
[Silvie’s POV:]
‘It’s strange… ‘
There were other things to put into words in accordance with the surroundings but my focus remained on what Jin told me back in the carriage.
He asked me to create my best spell-nullifying barrier and shroud them over The Treasurer and the Adviser of the Council for some reason. It was pretty strange that if Jin was about to get attacked, why was he seeking protection for the upperclassmen when they could become potential enemies under particular circumstances?
Nevertheless, I trusted his words and chanted the said Protective spell before drawing it over seniors just as they stepped out of the carriage earlier.
Now things have unfolded in a different manner.
First, we got ambushed by the Vice-President and two thugs in which one of them was a shapeshifter, imitating the President.
Soon the fight broke out and Jin along with Rena, easily defeated their respective opponents with pretty ease, a feat I might not be able to achieve any time soon. Rena was swift with her movements and overwhelmed her opponent with a barrage of attacks, rendering the thug from properly using her skills and taking out her weapon even for once. Jin, whereas, used his monstrous strength to pulverize the ego and the arm of the bald thug in one go.
Jin is merciless, that much I have acknowledged by now. He did not only not use spiritual magic but not a single strand of Mana came into play when he was bashing his opponent and beating him down to a pulp before he collected the pink-haired shapeshifter who previously received a powerful face kick from Rena, and planted the two goons side by side.
I acted upon finding Jin’s gaze on me and used the Holy Chain to bind the two criminals.
“Bravo! You guys are stronger and flashier than I initially presumed. I am impressed.”
The Vice-President clapped with a cheerful smile like he was unaffected by the fact that his two comrades just now faced a one-sided beating and now were down, no longer useful.
I reassessed my Barrier over the two other seniors who were with Aiden and felt nothing out of the ordinary into play. I could sense them due to my connection with my spell and found them to be already nearing the place.
“Do you ever shut up or your mouth requires something to be stuffed with to remain silent? Judging by your looks, I feel you might be of that kind.”
I titled my head at Rena’s words, trying to figure out what she was talking about but the reaction Vice President Phil gave, signified that she has just insulted him now.
“You…!”
“Shut it, Phil, and tell me what you want. We all know that you cannot handle both of us in a fight and using your skill Emission is impossible at this hour so how about you surrender?”
Jin offered a peaceful way to deal with this and I inwardly prayed that things get sorted out in that way. The Vice-President gets some punishment for his wrongdoing and we can continue our school life as always.
But sadly…
“Ho~So now you are daring to negotiate with me, you lowly bastard child of Baron Arkum? I bet your family won’t even spend a cent on your funeral.”
Wait…is Jin adopted?
I never knew this. And hearing Vice-President’s words it seems Jin was not liked by his family. Strangely it hits quite close to home.
Rena also looked a little taken aback as she glanced at Jin just like me, but the person in question remained unchanged.
“Are you done with stalling the time? Now tell me what is your real purpose.”
“?”
I never noticed that Vice-President was trying to buy time and if he was then those two thugs really didn’t help much.
The evil grin on Phil’s face was making me uncomfortable somehow but I didn’t waver and remained standing behind Jin. Well, I was scared but knew somehow that my two friends wouldn’t let anything happen to me.
“So you noticed huh? I thought that these two junkies would be of some use but well, can’t expect anything from mercenaries these days.”
So, he confirmed. But why though? If we do not reach the dungeon city on time the investigation team would lead to a search and soon Phil would get caught.
I am hoping that someone from the school would have already seen us, as many guarding instructors were around for students’ safety as per what Rena said.
But in the first place, if they were around then they would have never stayed hidden upon finding intruders mixed up in the trip.
Regardless I focused back on the glass-wearing man as he spoke out in his cocly tone.
“You know graduating from Excalius is an achievement worth a lifetime. Something every teenager wishes for out there. But sadly, you guys won’t be able to accomplish anything after this night…”
My heart began beating faster, not just because of apprehensiveness but also because my Barrier skill was now under some kind of pressure.
And soon I understood the reason for it as the Vice-President took out a talisman before concluding his wicked objective, “…since the crime of killing two seniors would surely not let you all remain-huh?”
He blinked his eyes as suddenly his Talisman which was previously glowing a violet glow began to tremble and the reason behind such a reaction was my actively working barriers.
It was not painfully difficult to handle the evil energy, constantly trying to erode the two seniors with Aiden but I was sweating profusely.
“What happened, Mr. Smartass? Did someone poke a hole in your plan?”
Rena snickered even though neither she nor I knows the reason for what was currently happening with this situation.
“You!! Release the spell, right at this instance!!”
Vice-President shouted at me which made my legs slightly tremble but I fought the urge to back down and while maintaining my barrier I spoke in a slightly shaky yet confident tone.
“No…I won’t let you kill anyone today…”
Certainly, I was the one who said that despite knowing that he can easily snap my neck if not Rena and Jin were present around.
But who cares? I am now an evolved version of myself who won’t show her weak side in front of her friends!
“But Jin…won’t this bastard would get framed as well if those two seniors would have been killed?”
Rena asked the very same question I was curious about but in place of saying anything Jin began circulating his mana as his eyes glowed in a peculiar glow before his image blurred and the place he reappeared was near the bespectacled Council member.
The speed was extremely swift that I barely saw his arm dropping on Vice-President’s nape before the said person dropped to the ground.
“It’s better to apprehend this version before he can kill himself…”
