Let me be a mob! - Chapter 49- Interesting~
Aiden was…speechless.
After he left his village in pursuit of strength, he had his fair share of struggle and met a variety of people along the way who held the power to prove a challenge to the multi-attribute wielder. Some of them were overwhelming and some of them were easily defeated.
Unlike most of the students present around him, he didn’t have the luxury to remain sheltered for long and had to fight for his right and he undoubtedly came across those entities who not only could have become a reason for his demise but also a source of whom Aiden learned a lot.
But right now, what he was witnessing in the arena where two of the strongest students of the academy were competing, made the raven-haired boy recount whether he has ever seen such raw talent and sheer strength before or not. He couldn’t describe in words, what sensation he was having when each second in the arena passed by.
Sure he had heard about Amanda, the student council president of the Excalius academy, and the feats she has achieved in the past two years so seeing her performing so well was something not only Aiden but almost everyone presumed. However, it didn’t mean the rumors about her might be wrong, and her performance left any gap feeling unsatisfied.
But when her opponent was so eye-catching and surprisingly strong, it was given that every gaze would fall on such a person regardless of what the audience previously thought about Jin.
The initial two and a half minutes were something Aiden was keenly observing his new-made friend and cheering him along Rena. Aiden had heard about Jin’s accomplishment in the first trial but he never saw him fighting back in the forest so this spectacle was an appropriate opportunity for Aiden to study Jin and learn things from him. Well, it was given that, by observation, Aiden was also formulating plans for how he could defeat the class representative. It was something naturally ingrained in the crimson-eyed boy and he believes every warrior must have the same thought process whenever they see some challenging fellow warrior.
However soon, his observations falter, his mind went haywire and all he was able to do was gape in amazement at the sight he was greeted with at the last thirty seconds of the match. It turned out that Jin was actually restricting himself by that artifact and the speed he showcased until now was all self-limited.
“What the heck is that weight…!”
Rena exclaimed when everyone felt the slight tremor of the weights which Jin threw to the ground and formed a small crater at that spot. On an average estimation, it would be more than 400 kilograms to form such cobwebs but the moves Jin portrayed were anything but sluggish. Even Aiden was unsure if he could keep his stamina intact while focusing on the objective simultaneously. Dodging, countering, and assaulting at the right moment…indeed Jin was way above the leagues that were proven.
But that was not the startling factor that left almost everyone presents inside the gymnasium in a state of shock but rather the speed Jin adapted after unbuckling the extra weight.
***SWOOOSH***
‘Fast…!’
Aiden’s eyes were slightly stretched as he saw the streak of cyan hue trailing in a straight path to Amanda who herself seemed taken aback by the exponential swift pace Jin has unleashed. Aiden was in awe and slightly terrified to imagine what outcome could have been played if at that pace someone would have come at him.
“Wait! Wait! Wait!”
In that brief period when Rena voiced out that exclamation Jin has taken three turns around Amanda at the same pace taking turns or aborting against the momentum was nothing for him to get bothered about.
Even Aiden had a hard time keeping his eyes on the restless streak of light which was left behind from wherever Jin raced by. The arena was not that huge, just twenty feet in diameter yet he was utilizing such compact space masterfully like he has trained nowhere but on these mats alone.
“Is that even humanly possible?!”
“He is utilizing mana so yeah…but for someone of our age…”
“What the fuck is happening?! I can’t see past those blurs and even Queen Amanda is getting cornered now!”
The crowd was going abuzz but Aiden nor the people beside him seemed to be interested in their chatters at all since their eyes were trained at the arena and not a single speck anywhere else.
No, calling it a mere arena would now be an understatement. It was Jin’s domain where no one could enter or exit without his permission or they might get unexpected punishment from the ruler of the realm.
‘How far is the gap between us… ‘
Aiden had an estimation before today but now…he was entirely unsure. But that doesn’t bring any despair to him rather a smile curved his lips as the flame of determination flared in his eyes. His purpose of coming to school seemed to be going perfectly and with Jin… Aiden was sure he would learn many things from this particular entity and one day he would fill the gap between them.
“Times up!”

[Amanda’s POV:]
Hearing the referee’s voice, I finally broke my protective stance and stood up with a confident smile still lifting the edges of my lips, but deep inside I was a bit…
I can’t tell how I was feeling since this was the first time I was having no good sentiments about the match I won. Practically, Jin outsmarted me, overwhelmed me with his sheer physical might, and made a fool out of me in front of those many students. But somehow… I was not feeling bad. Somehow, I felt refreshed, like this new sensation I felt while being on the losing end was making me kind of…excited.
Thrilled to have a rematch with Jin again already. Exhilarated to see what he could do with his weapon and how can he look when he is fighting for his life. I could only imagine how serious he would become once he faces my sword but current Jin was somehow making me annoyed.
He lost right…then why he still was smiling like everything went as he planned. Why is he not despairing? Why he is still confidently looking at me like he has won and would claim me soon? Wait…am I getting excited at the prospect of it… Am I for real…?
“The winner is… Jin Carter.”
“Heh?”
“”EEHHHHHH””
Just like me, everyone from the audience shouted in unison since there was definitely something wrong with the decision since I still had –
“!!!”
I looked at the emblem attached to my chest and the first thing my eyes fell on was the absence of the school crest on that emblem and what replaced them was a smiling face.
These….were fake!
Even without looking at the mirror, I knew my face was pale and my eyes stretched out uglily but I couldn’t help it. I was sure I had this match in my favor since if not for the speed he outclassed me, I was confident in my endurance and more so when Jin never struggled to snatch those emblems then…
“Here you go, mister instructor~”
Jin delivered the two real emblems to the referee with a carefree smile before he turned to look at me.
“W-When…” For god sake, I stuttered. I was not even able to voice my thoughts properly and while staring at him, I asked the most concerning question at hand.
Jin brought his hands to his hips before he looked up toward the ceiling seemingly thinking about it even though he had the answer right at the end of his tongue. Isn’t he just annoying me? Then why the heck I can’t rebuke just as I usually do? Am I sick?
No, first let’s hear his answer. My sanity could be stabilized afterward but for now, his answer would let me know when did he pull such a trick and slapped me with a tag of a loser.
“Uh…well, I did this on my first dash after getting rid of the extra weights. You were so focused on me that you didn’t even notice when your emblems got pulled out through my skill. I never actually touched you just kept you distracted and manipulated levitation to do the rest of the job.”
“…!!!”
He…is he…did he…really?
I was a broken mess since I could not imagine someone younger than using his skill such efficiently that I never actually got a whiff of his move and was only occupied with his dashes. In the first place, can someone actually use levitation in such a precise manner to target only a particular object despite the chanter being so restless at times of chanting?
He not only made the accurate usage of his attribute but never made a single mistake in keeping me diverted through the explosive strength he carries in his limbs. As deeper I dwell as many things come out from this particular three minutes round I had with this peculiar freshman.
More than him… I was sure I want to spend my time with him now and get to know the full potential of Jin Carter.
My expression shifted as a delighted grin spread across my face. My sudden change seemed to make Jin startled since he raised his brows and his eyes went around as well.
That… was the reaction I wanted♡
Walking toward him, I halted just a feet apart from the dominator before I pulled him by his collar and whispered the words I found the most suitable at the moment.
“It will be a fun month ahead. I look forward to seeing what you have for me in store~
