Let me be a mob! - Chapter 47- Breaking ego?
According to the chivalry code of Conduct, no one was allowed to have a full-fledged dual unless they have taken advance permission from the headmaster or there has been a professor present around. This rule has not been recorded since the start but has been implied after many incidents which led to unfavorable situations and outcomes.
And since there was no professor but only some instructors present inside the gymnasium where the first years were practicing, it was decided that Amanda and Jin would be engaging in a harmless battle of hand-to-hand combat.
And not just a straight-on brawl but a game to be precise of snatch and escape.
An emblem would be given to each of the candidates which they have to attach to their chest and the other one would try to snatch the other one’s. There would be only one round of three minutes where the person with two emblems would be declared the winner. The punishment of ring out is a twenty-second stale which would grant the opponent the to just sit still or take away the badge without facing any protest from the rule-punished participant.
“What do you think would happen?”
At a side, a group of five could be seen standing close by while gossiping about the only thing currently everyone had their eyes on. The arena. These five were none other but those who recently got acquainted with their class representative.
“I bet Jin would get his ass whooped.”
Hearing Aiden’s query Rena chuckled with the response and anticipated finally seeing the favorite student of her mother getting beaten down. It was not that she hated Jin for being favored by Elena but just the competitiveness she was born with and the gap between herself and Jin made Rena slightly tempted by the possible sight of Jin tasting dust.
***CRACKLE***
Rena instinctively jumped from her spot when she heard thunder crackling from somewhere near her and slight intent being glared at her by none other than the lightning princess of the group.
With her eyes turning dead hollow and her aura enshrouded by the chills of life, Fiona spoke out the piece of her mind Rena very much needed to know.
“Please don’t say something rude about Jin, Miss Rena. He is our friend and I am quite against the thought of you desiring such a hurtful outcome.”
Silvie sweatdropped before hiding behind Aiden. Rena also gulped hard, hearing the emotionless voice of Fiona for the first time.
Amidst such, a hand dropped on Fiona’s shoulder bringing the silver-haired maiden out of her daze.
“Drop it, Fiona. She didn’t mean it.”
Fiona scoffed and pulled back her gaze to the ring gaining a sigh of relief from Rena. No one said it but in actuality, all the other four know that Fiona’s current mood stems from something else.
It was the bet of the match being settled between Jin and Amanda which soured her mood, to the point even Dia was having a hard time keeping her calm.
Aiden inwardly prayed for Jin since he knew, the dual axe wielder would be getting into a problem either he wins or loses this match…

[Back on the Arena]
“You ready?”
Fastening the strap of her gloves Amanda asked in a casual tone as she saw Jin jumping at his spot, seemingly warming himself up. She has already done her stretches which included slight movements of her neck since for this match she didn’t find the need to get down serious.
Currently, both of them wore the uniform of martial art which was suitable for the sport with an instructor performing the role of a referee who stood just in the middle of the ring.
Taking a fighting stance Jin muttered in an amused tone, “Ready when you are.”
The referee took the cue and brought his left arm down in a chopping movement before announcing the rules and commencing the match.
“If I sense the slightest life-threatening skill being used from either side then intervention would be the last thing for you both to worry about. Now if you understand…Begin!”
Shouting the final of the words, the referee teleported his way out of the ring before a gust of wind made everyone hyped even more. The arena trembled slightly as one of the participants had already crossed the distance and approached their opponent in mere blinks.
Unsurprisingly, it was Jin who charged forward, and witnessing the nonchalant attitude of Amanda it didn’t seem she was going to take the initiative. Even now, when Jin was approaching her with such great speed and high leaps without using his skill at all, through just sheer physical might, Amanda remained calm as before.
She could see his strides and the leg he would implant near her before his right hand would travel to the target which was the badge attached to the left side of her chest. Despite having such an exterior Amanda was paying her undivided attention to Jin in hopes of seeing something finally new. But realizing that front-on approach she felt nothing short of disappointment once again.
‘Pathetic… ‘
She muttered under her breath before she tilted her body to dodge the incoming bull, but to her utmost surprise, Jin suddenly vanished from sight before she felt something approaching from the back.
Holding a long battle experience, Amanda knew when she had to think and when she had to act on her instincts, and this sudden ambush was something she could dodge solely through her senses.
“Woah!”
Someone exclaimed from the audience and there was a justifiable reason for it since Jin had managed to use his mana strengthening to leave an afterimage and get into her blind spot. Plan was to take down Amanda in the rush of the first move and subdue her with a lock but things didn’t go as he thought.
“Not so fast…”
Amanda smirked before her tilted body moved abort to face the incoming Jin who still was in mid-air through his skill. She didn’t prolong even for a fraction of a second before grabbing him by the collar and his waist belt and slamming Jin after throwing him over her head in a complete arc.
***THUDD***
Many from the crowd winced and Fiona bit her lips in concern when she along with others heard the clear impact when Jin was thrown to the ground. The transition was so fast that those of low ranking couldn’t even catch a glimpse when Jin appeared behind Amanda and when she countered it so brutally.
“Uggghhh…”
Jin’s expression contoured as he realized he had underestimated his senior and thus now the same senior was pinning him down with her knee pressing his hand over his abdomen and her left arm holding Jin’s right-hand wrist in a firm and unmovable grip. Since her other hand was free she did the most obvious thing and that was to snatch Jin’s emblem away and planted it on the other side of her chest.
Only ten seconds at most has passed yet the audience already had their first-round winner of the exchange.
“Looks like the rumors about you were indeed just rumors.”
Amanda mocked the guy who was now just at the right place he should be. Under her feet lying helplessly. She speculated that Jin might be able to give her a shocker and when he suddenly appeared behind Amanda she indeed got frozen even for a minuscule moment, but then again, if he couldn’t land a decent blow, everything results in a naught.
However, what Amanda desired was to break this man’s ego and his unmasked confidence but even now he still had a smirk lifting the edges and his previous demeanor yet to realize the position he was in.
“A hundred marks for senior but you forgot that the game is still on~”
Before she could realize what he meant Amanda felt herself moving…more like getting lifted off Jin despite her reluctance. Then it hit her but it was too late since even before she could use mana to attach herself to the ground and resist his skill, Amanda found herself higher than eight feet in the air.
She saw his smirking face for the last thing before Jin brushed his hand, and at the speed of a broken kite caught in a storm, Amanda was thrown out of the ring…or what it was supposed to be but it was not only Jin who had skills.
Just as she was about to cross the limitation Amanda gritted her teeth in annoyance before she teleported away just some millimeters away from receiving the penalty.
Her vision darkened just for half a second when she traveled through the dimensional rift before she appeared just at the place where she could have landed a decent punch right in her opponent’s guts but this predictable mindset cost her heavily.
“Ah!”
Amanda felt her gi being held by a shackle like a hold before she found herself getting kicked off the ground and landing square down the ground with an utmost shocked expression spread across her face.
“”UOOOOOOOOHHHHH””
This time the cheers were much louder to which Rena and Aiden also contributed. In just a few seconds and the impossible situation for Jin has entity shifted and now the position has been reversed.
This time Jin was pinning down his senior with her hands locked above her head with Jin’s tight grip as his other hand made its way to each of the emblems.
“I guess all the talks about you were just exaggeration as well, senior~”
Within a minute two rounds of exchanges had already taken place and the score was now even.
Afar from the crowd of students, a pair of keen eyes watched the match with quite a curiosity as he combed his white long beard along with as well.
“I think it’s time for me to meet you, Young Carter…”

A/N: – Let me be honest with you guys.
I generally avoid writing fighting scenes since I know I suck at it. But novels like these would occasionally have some combats along the way as well, so please bear with me since with each chapter I try to improve.
