Let me be a mob! - Chapter 41- That was me!
[Fiona’s POV:]
I am nervous.
Last I could not remember when was the time I have been this anxious and fearing about what was to come. I generally don’t get this emotional to the point where I had to dodge Dia from asking questions but right now, what I wanted was to have a chat with Jin as soon as I can.
This day was extremely long and eventful that even recalling what transpired makes me shiver, especially the part when we were at mercy of that woman who held the capability to even stand against the principal without a single crease of stress on her face.
Maybe she was overconfident in her skill, but as the rumor says, The Crimson Demon is one of the beings in existence who has surpassed the S-rank tier and entered the EX-rank which was close to being untouchable on this planet. They were not someone to be trifled with nor to make enemies against.
At that moment when that woman was looking down at us…that sense of helplessness I have felt some months ago when I was kidnapped, yet again made me senseless and brought a sense of desperation to run away from that monster as far as I could.
I could never tell this side of mine to anyone which was frailer than a glass doll. I try to mask it but whenever I have faced such a situation where I lie in a helpless spot, I find myself losing all hopes of continuing this life.
But today, there was another thing that was making me this nervous and panicked. This was the first time I was not just thinking about myself in a state of crisis but was getting apprehensive about someone else.
And for that reason, I arrived in Jin’s room without his permission since I knew once I ask him to talk to me when we are no longer stuck in the woods, he would most probably ignore the conversation as he does with Silvie and others as well.
Even Dia, who was the most outgoing and extroverted person I know, had a hard time keeping the flow of her chat with Jin. Even though it has been two days since we officially met, I know as a person Jin did not like associating himself with others.
That was why I had to retort with such a forceful method and intrude in his room
It may be way too early for this talk but I have to confront Jin about that incident and clarify things before he does anything on impulse.
I have investigated that person who saved me back some months ago and I have yet to find a single individual with the same peculiar shade of hair that both my benefactor and Jin has. Not to talk about the confidence he held in his arms to fight against criminals and today a C-rank monster all by himself was also a testimony that I was betting my money on the right person.
He’s the one I have been searching for and now it’s time to finally have a chat with him.
“What is it that brought you here… Fiona?”

[3rd Person POV:]
Fiona didn’t even flinch since she already sensed someone approaching and hearing the familiar voice she didn’t even have to lift her head to realize who called out for her.
“Can you sit down for a bit, please?”
Fiona raised her oceanic eyes and requested the boy who evidently was not in the best mood and condition to talk right now. Since Jin was injured it would have been appropriate for him to stay in the infirmary but the whole school was under strict patrol of professors and guards who were actively searching each corner of the place to find any leftovers from the battle which ensued earlier.
Jin was not physically that much-injured thanks to the potions he has chugged before, but he was indeed tired enough to fall asleep as soon his face hits the pillow. Not to talk about the mental stress he was facing due to the chain of events.
He indeed was not in the mood to converse right now, but knowing what Fiona must have to talk he held his groan and complied with her request before stabilizing himself over the wooden chair which he settled just opposite the silver-haired maiden.
“Okay…tell me.”
Jin leaned forward before resting his elbows on either knee and chin resting over his folded fist as he asked while staring at nothing but her eyes.
“Yeah… I…I…wanted to ask…Actually, umm… It’s like… ”
Fiona was all fired up to finally ask whether her presumption was right or not related to the matter which has been on her mind for so long. But now being gazed at by his piercing eyes, Fiona found herself stuttering like a broken record.
She has waited for this moment ever since her eyes laid on Jin yet she was right now anything but calm. Her heart was leaping at thousands of miles per second, words failing to form and her breathing was staggering until the point of making her uncomfortable.
“Ah…”
Suddenly Fiona felt herself being enwrapped in an unfamiliar warmth. She didn’t even realize when the seat in front of her vacated and the person slid beside her and shrouded her in his protective hold.
The most common reaction would have been Fiona’s shock followed by agitation by being touched by a man she barely knows, who is intimate with her when in her life the only man she has allowed herself to be near was her father.
But just like Fiona had lost her capabilities to reason her own sanity or try to resist the sudden closeness between the two, the girl found herself actually falling in these arms like she was brought into a cocoon of solace.
“Relax now, will ya? Your heartbeat was skyrocketing.”
Jin’s deep voice whispered into her senses, bringing Fiona out of her daze where she initially fell due to the comfortable warmth she felt around herself getting shaded in. Her body which has been stiff as ever moved slightly to get herself slightly comfortable in the embrace with her raised hand pinching Jin’s shirt and eyes closed as she tried to calm herself down.
It took her some time but Fiona was able to regain her composure before Jin made space in between them. Fiona had to fight the urge to show her disappointment in being separated from her cocoon but she held it for now as there was a more pressing matter to discuss at the moment.
With her gaze fallen, Fiona finally was able to squeeze out the words she intended to ask the past day and what was making her so terrified ever since the catastrophe arrived earlier in the Academy.
“A-Are you….the same person who s-saved m-me t-tha d-day….”
“Ah yes, that was me.”

A/N: – Next chapter would be hella long and I would add two scenes. I am kinda tired or I planned to write that scene in this chapter.
