Let me be a mob! - Chapter 39- The Academy is no longer safe?
Jin desired to not play with the plot. For his own comfort and safety, he didn’t want to alter the story much from the track since if the future he has read in his previous life gets affected by his meddling then there would not remain any benefit of being a transmigrator.
Despite knowing that his mere inclusion in the story, Jin Carter who never existed in the story making his way into the plot, would create ripples and hit the butterfly effect, Jin desired to keep the changes minimal by staying in the background and enjoy the world burning from the sidelines.
But in one way or other, he screwed it all.
It all started with the incident when he saved Fiona. Well, he didn’t regret his decision for a single second but how did she end up in the state where she was destined to get raped by the baldy? Of course, because the Faceless spotted Jin tracing him and that bastard changed the plan in the end…creating a huge diversion in the storyline.
Now that diversion has brought this sudden crisis in his life and many other students of Excalius Academy. How do you ask?
“Academy was under attack by the infamous organization, the Mamba? And that’s the reason why no one came to save us?”
One of the students summarized the short explanation Lisa gave regarding what was the reason for leaving the students alone in times of such hazards where they could have possibly lost their lives. Lisa received a message that the school was under attack and the headmaster was not around. She had options whether she could protect these twenty-five or those many in the academy. She chose the latter since the party involved in the crime was nothing to scoff about.
Of course, if Lisa had known that a barrier, the creation of Avalona no less, would be enchanted around the jungle just after she departed, then the lady would have never left. At least those in the academy had the protection of fellow professors but everything went haywire and Lisa failed to fulfill her role as a teacher.
Not only the academy faced casualties but the first years also lost some of their classmates in this mess.
Lisa has already heard everything from Dia, who was present around all the major events that happened inside the barrier, and some gaps were filled by Rena and Fiona making the lady rather guilty and proud at the same time. It goes without saying, that the grief of losing students was immense enough to enshroud every other emotion. Though she was proud of Jin and the others they handled the situation rather maturely, and the sorrow which arises from those deaths would weigh Lisa down for the rest of her life.
There was an unhidden atmosphere of horror and anxiety among most of the students to know that the Academy was under attack by that criminal organization that held such a great scale of authority and had individuals which could rival a country. And for them to target the Academy meant that even the safest place in this whole nation was no longer secured anymore.
Aiden was silently sitting at a side without uttering a word even though he wanted to calm down the crowd. He was himself rather shocked to hear the news but not for the reason others were. He was inclined to know about the reason why they targeted the academy in the first place. The same went for Brad and Dia as well who were conversing with Lisa now and then to ask her about the details of the conflict.
Jin was in a state of fright. For some reasons he had a feeling that this all was happening because of what he did to the Faceless since there was no other reason for the Mamba to come out and toy with the Academy. And as Lisa told the students, they seemed to search for something in the school as well, when the elite criminals were engaged in battle with teachers and guards.
‘That fucking ring… ‘
The spatial ring of The Faceless which in canon, was supposed to be in the custody of the Ducal office was later stolen away by a member of the Mamba. However, it was never mentioned why it was important to them or what role it played in the story. The spatial storage had a traceable enchantment which was why Jin made sure to grave it far from anywhere his existence could be found.
Jin could have never thought that the simple storage ring would carry that much importance in the first place or maybe he was just overthinking all of this since the Mambas are beings who seek violence for their twisted greed and maybe Excalius Academy was the source of their next goal.
‘Well not like I can do anything about it nor confess about that incident either… ‘
Jin was not a stupid idiot who would detail that night when he killed the Faceless. There was a possibility that this whole chaos may have ensued because of that incident and if people come to know that those students who died back in the academy and on this jungle trial were because of Jin….it surely wouldn’t end well.
“Hey…are you fine? Your complexion doesn’t look good.”
Fiona, the one who currently was the source of his comfort thanks to her fluffy thighs, asked with a raise of her silver brows and her precious oceanic eyes oozing with unmasked concern. Her face looked down at him, with the strands of her peculiarly silver hair draping a curtain between their faces and casting a shadow where the pair was only allowed to be.
Jin no longer had the strength to push away the main cast, especially Fiona who for one reason or another was gluing to him a lot. Not like he hates the attention of a beautiful bishoujo but knowing what the reason might be behind her affection made Jin groan inwardly.
“I am kinda tired of all this shit happening. How about you? Aren’t you concerned about school safety like those arguing right there?”
Without turning her head Fiona knew Jin was talking about the other students who were now concerned about their stay in the academy where they had to face a life-threatening situation just on the second day. Not to talk about the invasion the Academy went through even though the security consisted of such high merit officers and also the elite professors who boasted anything and everything about the achievements of their lifetime.
To be honest, Fiona was taken aback by the revelation that students actually died on the campus even though S-rank like Lisa was present there. But it was given that the Mamba would have sent their elites as well until they didn’t want to clean up some space in their organization.
Coincidence may occur but this incident was not one of them when the headmaster was not around and the academy was invaded. It was a well-planned plot to take the school by surprise and execute whatever wicked plan they had just in the beginning phase of a new year.
“Well, I would be lying if I say, I ain’t messed up in the head because of all this…but regarding the safety, then I never relied on anyone or anything for my life so I have no issue remaining in the Academy.”
Fiona has changed for good and Jin was happy to see that resolve in her eyes which was not like that cold attitude the og Fiona used to have but this Fiona was not bad either who was livelier and down to earth. Though Jin would have liked seeing the classic tsundere going red every time being praised, this was great as well.
“Glad to hear that.”
Fiona was surprised to hear his response and felt like asking the reason why he was glad about her not leaving the Academy. But soon she brushed it off since as she has observed Jin until now, he didn’t really mean what he say in such a casual manner. The tone he uses for serious matters and the way he talks otherwise has a great diversion and Fiona knew, by this point, she has begun overthinking things related to Jin.
Soon Lisa got over the slight fatigue she has pent up due to the constant fighting before she asked the students to form a chained queue so she could bring them back to the academy, like how she teleported them here previously.
Many were uncertain whether they should be returning to the academy or not under such circumstances currently ensuing but at the end of the day, remaining at this strange place was never an option either so they had to reluctantly agree.
But little did anyone including Lisa would have ever expected that the first thing they would witness after stepping inside the Academy would be two monsptourpus entities floating in mid-air, much to everyone’s fret and anxiety.
One of the two was a familiar figure with a white long beard and a stern gaze he always wear, the Principal of the Academy who was the best assurance a student could hope for. But despite his sudden appearance, the reason why all the students and also the first years who just arrived, seemed in great horror, stems from the person who was currently facing the old man.
The leader of the Mamba—The Crimson Demon of East.
