Let me be a mob! - Chapter 34- It depends on Jin!
It took a couple of minutes to calm down the traumatized Silvie. Aiden had to soothe the girl and assure her of his and others’ presence, in order to get her out of her hysteria.
Jin and the others didn’t ask or say anything to Silvie since handling the frail girl was something only Aiden was able to do. She was extremely terrified because of something and repeated continuously that everyone was dead.
Finally, after what went like an eternity but in actuality only seven minutes had passed, Silvie began to recollect the things that happened back when she was moving along with her teammates.
“I-It was some creatures who s-sudeenly appeared and ambushed o-our team, scattering us all around. I along with Fleur were able to escape together but the scream I heard f-f-from the jungle told the horrifying conclusion my teammates ended up in.”
Silvie halted for a bit before gulping down her dry saliva as it seemed what she was about to say, was the factor that made Silvie so frightened. Aiden asked her to take it easy and not rush things but Brad had a different opinion which he kept to himself for now and only clicked his tongue.
Silvie took some seconds and after downing the water she was offered, she continued.
“I and Fleur were running to the other end of the jungle…and were about to reach the destination…but suddenly…suddenly I tripped in the way but Fleur didn’t stop for me…rather she was so terrified that she didn’t even look back at me… I wanted to call out for her b-but when I saw w-w-what ha-happened to h-h-her when she moved th-through that ba-barrier… I… I….”
“Shh… it’s okay, Silvie. You don’t have to say it.”
The blond princess walked forward before wrapping the small girl in her arms who was silently sobbing with large droplets of tears raining down and falling on her clenched fist. Despite being in the top five first years it was evident that the girl was not prepared to see what she had to face recently.
Well, no one actually gets training at such a young age to have these many circumstances where they have to look out for their lives at every corner and get locked up inside some ancient artifact along with some deadly beast. It was supposed to be a competitive contest between students but now…they were locked in prison along with bloodthirsty monsters just on the second day of the academy.
Jin was silent from start to end as he contemplated what he was supposed to do at the moment.
Though he could escape from here easily, considering the future he didn’t choose that option. It was given that Jin would be highlighted for whatever step he takes here now so why not get in the good books of the main cast?
And also, for some reason, Jin has some dangerous premonition that this whole shift in the plot was not just something a mere minor villain could do. But to unravel that part, he needs to get himself and others out of the barrier.
Walking toward the elven girl who currently was resting over a log, Jin leaned forward before kneeling in front of the girl, making Silvie startled for a bit.
Dia, who had separated herself from Silvie stood just behind her with Aiden on the left.
Jin took a hold of the girl’s hand fondly, to keep her nerves under control before he asked something in a very gentle tone to not make the girl panic once again.
“I know a lot has happened Silvie, and not just you, we all are not prepared for this. But to escape from this place, we need to know everything which can help us save those classmates. So can you try and recall what kind of beast you saw or what their rank was?”
It was given that the protagonist would go and search for those students even though no one supports his decision. So in order to at least be of some help, Jin wanted to know what they had to face.
Silvie visibly stiffened hearing the request which made her remember the horrifying sight of one of the students being eaten alive and all those haunting cries of those classmates she left behind.
Aiden knew the girl was scared to even think about it, but what Jin was asking her was important to know as well since battling a completely unknown enemy was a lot worse than having some overview of the said foe.
Silvie remained silent for a couple of seconds before she parted her lips to dictate the thing she saw back then.
“I don’t re-recognize those monsters…but f-from what I sensed….they w-were at least (C-). I didn’t get the actual count but f-from what I remember, it was around three of those hunting that section of that jungle.”
Brad frowned before he raised his voice in anxiety.
“What do you mean, ‘section of the jungle’? Do you mean there was more than what attacked your group?”
Despite not liking the tone Brad used, the others had also the same query upon hearing the last phrase Silvie concluded her words with.
Silvie looked down in concern and fret marring her face before murmuring under her breath.
“I am afraid so.”
****
The group was silent for some minutes. Fiona gave a potion to Silvie which brought the girl’s health to the fullest. With Rena’s help, Silvie was currently resting with her eyes closed and a blanket covering her body which was slightly exposed due to her tattered clothes.
The other unconscious students were placed near Silvie as well so the others had not to look in two different directions in order to keep an eye on the fallen.
“In my opinion, we should retreat since going to find those students would be nothing more than falling into the death trap. And who knows they might already be d-”
Jin knew something like this would be raised by Brad who holds his utmost priority in his safety first. But before he could conclude his words, Aiden’s sword tip halted just an inch apart from the blondie’s nape, as a chilly aura surrounded the raven-haired boy.
“Swallow back that word since I know those students are alive and need our assistance.”
Brad gritted his teeth before his own killing intent began permeating heavily, clashing with Aiden’s aura. Despite being weaker than Aiden, Brad had no sign of backing away as he stared at the sword wielder dead in the eye.
“Cut it out, guys! Are you both seriously fighting at times like this? And before deciding what route we should be taking, isn’t it better to ask Jin’s opinion since he is the only one who could get us out of here in the end.”
Hearing Rena’s annoyed tone, both Aiden and Brad along with others turned their gazes toward the silvery grey-haired guy. It was true that whatever happens from here on would be a call of Jin since not only he had the means to escape from the dome but he was the strongest fighter along them as well.
Brad intently looked at Jin like he was trying to force his intention toward Jin and the same goes for Aiden who had a hopeful look in his eyes as he gazed at Jin. Dia and Fiona were neutral and Rena as always, looked irritated.
Jin was slightly taken aback by the sudden shift of focus on him, earning a small chuckle from Dia which Jin pretended to not hear. He pondered for a bit..or he acted so, before responding in a serene tone.
“We are going to save them.”
Brad clicked his tongue, whereas Aiden beamed at the response. It seemed he almost squealed in delight which was really out of character for someone such as Aiden but no one was going to comment on that.
Ignoring the looks of others, Jin continued with the plan which he came up with some moments ago.
“We will go in teams, and return with as many students we can by the evening before we leave this prison once and for all.”
