Let me be a mob! - Chapter 33- Avalona?
Thanks to the high-grade healing Recovery potion Fiona fed to Jin, he felt all his bones reverting to a healthy state, and his physical condition improving exponentially in real time under the amazed gazes of the others. Potions are truly life savers in any day or age.
But the lost blood and his fatigue were not cured, so Aiden kept on Jin’s support as they began marching toward the outside of the forest. The test was already dismissed as soon as the Illusion monkey appeared so there was no point in advancing to the other end and searching for flags.
Aiden had flared the torch of emergency to alert the professor since there were students injured and unconscious. And since the SOS torch reaches up too high in the sky, the other group and students Fiona Aiden and Rena left behind might also notice that the challenge was no longer valid.
Now what they awaited was Lisa so she could teleport them back to the academy.
For now, Dia was using her skill on the two fallen students as they walked toward the direction from where they came. Brad and Rena were in the rear and had their guard pulled up for any unexpected danger.
Fiona walked on the right of Jin and Dia on the left. Both women had yet to say another word after that time but considering what they have come across today and the prowess they saw from Jin, it was understandable why the group seemed so contemplative.
Suddenly, Jin’s facial expression contoured and a frown wrinkled his forehead as he hurriedly called up for the group.
“”Wait! “”
Surprisingly, his voice was aligned with Fiona’s as they simultaneously turned toward each other with bewilderment. But soon Jin brushed away the surprise and asked in a grim tone.
“You can see that?”
Without any hesitation, Fiona nodded, much to others’ perplexion. Upon pointed, Aiden focused his gaze around and tried to figure out what made the two raise their voice all of a sudden. It didn’t take him time to notice what Aiden was unable to see a moment ago.
There was a thin transparent sheet in front that had visibility near zero and it took mana amplification to optic nerves for Aiden to pinpoint it. The transparent sheet was spread wide as far as the gaze could travel and at least twenty meters in height before it began curving to the inside of the forest, making it seem like a dome.
And the students were inside that dome.
“A barrier…”
Soon Dia also noticed as she muttered under her breath. It was an irritating fact that both Rena and Brad were unable to see the dome, how much they tried. But they were not kids to whine about that now since the presence of the barrier was a much more concerning matter in hand.
Jin slowly got his arm off Aiden’s shoulder, and while ignoring the pain in his arm, he crouched down to pick up a small stone from the ground.
Under the varying gaze of the group, Jin walked some steps forward until he was some feet away from the transparent sheet before he flicked the stone forward.
“!!!”
What happened to that stone made everyone startled since upon interacting with the barrier, the stone disintegrated into nothingness. There was no ruble or anything remaining which passed through the thin transparent sheet of the barrier, making the students extremely vary of the barricade.
“As I thought….this feeling…”
Jin mumbled under his breath as sweat dripped down his forehead upon discovering the type of barrier and enhancement put into this obstacle which again shouldn’t be existing at this place.
“Jin…do you know anything about this barrier?”
Aiden, with stress evident on his face, walked forward since even though Jin murmured it, everyone around him was superhuman and was able to hear him clearly.
Jin pondered whether to say this or not but considering the fact that something so massive has shifted in the plot he thought it would be better to not make his classmates wary of him and remain truthful for the time being.
“Artifact of Avalona.”
Everyone shivered upon hearing that infamous name before Jin turned toward the group and began narrating the information which he had gained from his past life and also after rebirth.
“The legendary witch who was known for her evil witchcraft and sinful deeds. Who knew no limits and never let anyone bind her with any regulation. Before her demise, she left a hundred artifacts across the globe. I am not aware of every single one of them, but within my limited knowledge, this barrier of Avalona—The Final Obstacle—is not something which can be easily found.”
Everyone carefully heard each of his words without daring to utter a single thing in between since anything related to Avalona was anything but pleasant. Even Rena had a severe frown marring her face as she heard Jin continuing.
“If I am correct then this barrier is the reason why you guys were able to hear the battle cry between me and that monkey but not the professor.”
“Wait that means….”
With her gaze widened Dia realized something to which Jin nodded and finished what she failed to utter.
“Yes, we are isolated and that flare surely would not have been visible outside the barrier.”
Rena gasped at the words, whereas Brad looked borderline horrified hearing that no one from the outside world knew they were in danger. And considering the fact that the professor had not done anything about the barrier even Jin and Fiona were able to notice, implies that there was nothing they could do about it at all. At least for the time being
“Is there something you can do to destroy this barrier?”
Brad walked forward slightly panicked as he asked Jin. It was Brad who asked but everyone else had a similar query.
Since it was an artifact of the Avalona then it was inevitable that normal attacks would not work on it or it wouldn’t be called the creation of the legendary witch. What the students had the option left was the sole person knowledgeable about the barrier and considering the prowess, he showed earlier, Jin was the person most capable of freeing them from this prison as well.
Jin thought about it for a while, turning his gaze toward the barrier once again while clutching his fist to determine his physical condition.
Though not in optimum condition, he got no other option but to utilize it.
“Physical and elemental attacks are useless to this since Avalona created it through thorough research and experimentation….”
The expectancy of Rena to see the Fenrir against the barrier shattered but Jin’s following words ignited the flame of hope inside them once again.
“…but there is something I can do. However, it won’t remain forever and everyone has to get out within ten seconds.”
“Okay then go for it-”
“Wait!”
Brad gritted his teeth after being interrupted by Aiden since the blond noble didn’t want to stay any longer in this ominous cage and return to safety as soon as possible.
Aiden ignored Brad’s annoyed gaze directed toward him as he spoke about something which made the atmosphere grow even heavier.
“From what I can see, this barrier is erected in the form of a dome which means the students who went ahead of us must be…”
Dia covered her mouth as realization hit her followed by others. The fact that those students were unaware of the barrier and its effect meant that it was possible that those students might be…
Rena blinked her eyes before they widened as a slow ‘Oh lord…’ left her lips in dismay. Even Fiona didn’t show it, her clenched fist signified that she was equally distressed about the fact that her classmates including Silvie might have died because of being ignorant about the barrier.
Jin didn’t reply to it since he knew that even if Silvie would have seen the barrier, the people in her team wouldn’t have listened to her heed and not to talk about those from the teams which the three leaders abandoned before.
“No, this is not true. They are alive and I am going to find them.”
Aiden spoke up in a determined tone before he turned toward the forest and was about to depart when suddenly a presence approached them from the left, making everyone pull their guards as they turned toward the source of the rustle.
“Silvie…”
It was the elven girl who appeared but in place of being relieved, what Aiden felt upon seeing the girl was utter shock.
“Dead…they all are dead….they all are dead…”
