Let me be a mob! - Chapter 131- Ambush~2
“Tell me their status.” The monitoring room tensed up the moment their queen entered the room and asked the head administrator of the department.
The monitoring of the borders is done through extra-perception skills called ‘Third Eye’ and ‘Almighty Presence’. The demons have a variety of skills among which these two were rare.
The two demons sitting on the runic platforms continuously surveilled the borders of the territory while the head administrator reported the situation,
“The army of the Eastern Empire suddenly appeared on the north border even though our surveillance has been overwatching their activities for the past few seasons.”
“What do you mean, ‘appeared suddenly’?” Alzeith’s stern tone made the one-eyed woman shiver before she showed her queen the map.
Jin focused on the map as well as he heard the administrator speaking, “The Eastern Empire had only one route to approach us and that was through the Forest of Greyvon. The other three sides are not accessible because of the flowing Dead Sea.”
Pointing toward the forest which was situated on the South side of the Empire, the woman spoke. And as she said the other three sides were the waterways which wouldn’t be possible to travel through when taking such a huge army into account.
“Teleportation?” Lisa suggested to which the one-eyed Oni shook her head, “Demons don’t possess the Light attribute and the skills associated with it.”
Lisa frowned at that. She was not aware of the fact and couldn’t think of any other route through which that army could infiltrate the Empire.
“But is it possible that they might have hired someone from the human realm?”
” –!!”
Jin’s words created dead silence in the room.
His words held credibility and it wasn’t impossible to make contact with the human realm. And just like how Jin and his friends came to this realm while fooling the eyes of the Sages, the other party might have also called for help in the same manner.
“Even with their hired mercenaries, it makes no difference. In the end, they’ll all face their demise.” Alzeith’s words created a sense of awe amongst the people and for a moment everyone present around her fell into a daze.
Turning her attention to Jin, Alzeith asked, “Jin…are you sure you want to do this?”
“I have never felt more prepared than I do right now.” Focusing on the administrator he asked, “Just tell me which side has the most amount of enemy soldiers?”
Before the demon could have replied, Aiden exclaimed, “Wait! You really are going there all alone?”
“For real, Jin?” Rena followed; unable to believe that her friend was going to take such a suicidal step.
Jin was nonchalant when he replied, ” You thought I have been joking around all this time?”
Rena, with her jaw slacked turned towards Fiona, “….are you letting him go just like this?”
Fiona’s answer was quick and carried not a speck of hesitation, “I won’t stop him but won’t let him go alone as well. As a backup, I will be accompanying Jin on the battlefield.”
Those determined eyes left no room for negotiation as Jin raised his hand in submission.
“Then I also-”
“No, Dia.” Dia’s shoulders slumped upon hearing such a quick rejection from Jin.
He sighed before he placed his hand on her shoulder in a comforting manner and told her, “I want you to help Alzeith in keeping an eye on the battlefield. With your Levitation skill, you can be really helpful in surveillance.”
Dia’s spirit was lifted upon being given the duty. Being useful to Jin gives her great joy.
Turning towards Aiden and Rena, Jin asked, “The two of you, stay here and protect the palace along with the other soldiers.”
Aiden looked like he wanted to join the battlefield with Jin but Rena answered on his behalf before he could say anything, “We will do as you say.”
“Professor, you along with Silvie stay here with Alzeith. I might have to retreat amidst the war if things go awry so I would need your help.”
The violet-haired lady nodded dutifully. Although she knew she could be helpful on the battlefield, given her experience, she decided to trust in her student’s judgment and follow his decision.
Turning towards the older version of Rena, Jin requested, “Once again master, I have to rely on you. Please assist me in this war.”
“Now that’s one suitable job you delegated to me.” With a toothy grin, Elena responded with her thick arms crossed over her chest.
Once the roles of each individual were given, Jin turned toward Alzeith,
“You know what you have to do. ”
Alzeith came forward and embraced him closely in her arms.
Jin could tell, that despite how sternly she behaved, she was extremely anxious at the moment. Her face can fool others but her restlessly beating heart…it cannot lie to him.
While converting herself with his warmth she whispered, “Take care.”
“Mmhm.”

Jin changed his clothes and wore something that would provide him extra protection against magical and physical attacks and would allow him to move without restriction.
Donning armor and holding a spear, Jin allowed the Prime Minister to tie the small red lantern to his waist which was the artifact to perform the blood ritual.
The artifact would capture the souls of those whom Jin would kill and all those souls would become the life resource for Alzeith.
Since Jin has bound the artifact with his blood, until Jin is alive, the lantern won’t get destroyed or separated from him.
Once the Prime Minister was done helping him out with the armor and the artifact she got up and looked into his eyes.
One could see that there were numerous emotions swirling in her eyes but she chose to not speak about them for now.
Patting his shoulder, she encouraged him, “Do your best and save the person we both want to live.”
Jin nodded at that and replied, ” I won’t disappoint you.”

After leaving the palace Jin with Fiona and Elena marched towards the Northern border. The army was dispersing in another direction from the North side so it was natural for most of the units to be congregated in this direction.
Once they reached the mark which was far away from the palace and a hundred meters away from the enemy units, the trio halted.
“This looks nasty.” Elena, who was holding a weapon and standing on the battlefield after years, spoke without a single speck of fear on her visage.
Her eyes remained focused on the thousands of soldiers and beasts marching toward them.
“Jin.” Fiona held his hand and called out to him with slight apprehension in her voice.
In response to that, Jin smiled fearlessly and assured her, “Not even a single one would live to see the next day.”
The war between one human and a thousand demons, begins!
