Let me be a mob! - Chapter 122- To prove his worth~1
[Jin’s POV:]
Naturally, for the battle, my shackles were removed and I was given free rein.
The venue for the battle was an open ground that was wide enough to be called a coliseum.
My opponent stood a few meters ahead of me with a serious frown marring her face.
Her red hair was tied in a ponytail for undisturbed movement and her body was clad with golden and black armour. She has an athletic build and she wielded a long and thin spear.
Although she wasn’t releasing her aura since the match had yet to start, I could feel her killing intent from afar. And truth be told, it was tremendous.
*Gulp*
I wasn’t doubting my decision but feeling nervous at this stage was pretty natural and something I couldn’t help.
I was wearing full body armour as well which increased my endurance and would also summon a barrier if my life got into danger.
Several people were witnessing the duel between me and the Commander and of course, Alzieth also sat on her throne while gazing at the training ground from above. Her Prime Minister stood on her flank with an indifferent expression. However, I somehow could feel that she was quite happy right now.
‘Guh…I am just overthinking now…’
Cleching my fist I shook my head to remove the unnecessary thoughts as the referee finally appeared on the stage.
The bespectacled referee looked alternatively at both of us before relaying the rules,
“Any life-threatening attack is prohibited. Any assault that can leave lifelong damage is not allowed either. Physical and magic-based attacks are allowed. Any questions? ”
The referee looked at us again but didn’t receive any response.
“Alright then.”
I steeled my nerves and breathed a heavy sigh. This was it. After a very long time, I was allowed to let loose and not hold back at all. I wasn’t protecting anyone here nor I had to think of the plot anymore.
I finally can be myself.
“Begin!”
The moment the battle began, I found my vision blurry because of the effect of Air Spirits protecting my surroundings. The fact they engaged the moment the battle began, explains that my opponent was monstrously agile.
*CLANG*
With a loud reverberation, a slit was created in the air barrier around me before I and my opponent got face to face once again. However, the distance was a lot less than before.
“Eiihhhhhh!” Merex howled before she slashed the barrier and dispersed the Spirits.
Deftly, I chose to leap away to create some distance while my lips moved swiftly.
[XXX-XXXXXX!]
My call was responded to by the Great Spirit Queen Undine and from a distance of ten feet, I launched a water strike toward my opponent.
The slanted water gun was diverted easily by the Commander using her demonic weapon. Her body language oozed with disappointment.
‘…not enough!’ I canceled the spell and decided to use a far more potent attack—only to realize that I wasn’t allowed to attack here.
Only a fraction of a second later I canceled my spell, I had to duck my head mid-air before the air-whipping spear of my rival went past the spot where my neck was.
In a panic, I summoned a rock wall from the ground which took the Commander high above the spot where she attacked me. Taking advantage of her surprise I levitated to match her height and threw a hook punch to her face—only to be easily blocked.
I anticipated the block, but her knee driving into my torso caught me off guard.
Despite her lack of time to exert force, my body was still propelled backward by the impact.
I winced in pain but made enough distance to not get again attacked.
‘…damn, she is tough….’ My thoughts could only progress to that much before I felt an impeding danger looming over me.
I instantly lifted my head but it was too late.
“Oh shi…”
*BOOOOOM*
*******
Alzieth sprang to her feet; her eyes fixed on Jin’s figure hurtling towards the ground like a meteor, unleashing a deafening howl upon impact.
A smoke of dust was formed at the spot where Jin fell and the next moment Merex fell from the stone elevation and let go of her spear.
“GHUK!!” Jin groaned as a boulder-weighing object crashed onto his chest, sending his vision spinning into a blur.
All the anger Merex had felt toward this pest for clinging to Her Majesty summed up in that moment and the demon began venting all her frustration.
*DHAK*
*DHAK*
*CRACK*
“Aghhh!!” Jin’s heart pounded like never before as he felt the woman stomping her feet with tremendous force down his chest and stomach—crushing his bones and deforming his innards.
Blood spat out of his throat and his body trembled under the sheer pressure extruding from the Commander.
In sheer desperation, he grabbed the descending foot of the woman before freezing it up to her knee. The short window of the interval was enough for Jin to regain his composure for a bit before using reverse levitation and increasing the gravity in the region where the crater had formed.
Merex was taken by surprise because of the sudden heaviness she felt on her shoulders, however, she didn’t yield to it and held her ground firmly.
However, what irked her was the malicious grin suddenly lifting Jin’s lips which ushered her to ask,
“What’s so funny, human?”
Jin’s grin widened as he uttered in a barely audible voice, “If I were you…I would have looked behind…”
Merex’s eyes widened a little, however, before she could turn or even move a muscle, three large ice spears stabbed her back with enhanced attraction force.
Merex squinted her eyes as some words of realization left her throat, “You summoned them the moment you were struck by me, and waited until I let my guard down, huh? Not bad for a mere human.”
Suddenly, Merex’s body glowed with a crimson hue—exhausting all the vigor from Jin’s face as he saw the ice spears dissolving into nothing the slight gap created on her torso, and the injuries on her back, healing completely. Like he never injured her in the first place.
This time it was Merex standing with a smirk on her face as she raised her hand and summoned her spear. Pointing it towards Jin, she voiced her intention,
“Now, enough for the games. How about we become a little serious and give a good show to Your Majesty?”

“I found him!” Everyone had their eyes widened as they heard Silvie nearly shouting those words, even though only ten minutes had passed since they reached the Veil of Separation.
This was too soon. Silvie said she needed at least half an hour to find the aperture.
However, before anyone could have asked her how this was possible, she herself answered it in her previous energetic voice,
“Jin is currently using Spiritual energy at a very vast rate which helped me to easily navigate the pathway. We just need to follow that path and cross the realms before the aperture closes.”
Although this news was relieving, not everyone seemed to be joyous.
Reason?
“Why…all of a sudden, Jin was allowed to use his powers?” Aiden couldn’t help muttering with a severe frown marring his face.
Everything aside, he was taken captive in that realm. And now he was not only free of his chains, he was also using his Spiritual powers rigorously.
…It only meant…
“We need to get going.” Without a second thought, Fiona got up on her feet and so did Dia.
Following their suit, everyone began to march towards the Veil with hurried steps.
The mission of rescuing Jin, continues.
