Let me be a mob! - Chapter 104- Jin is distressed?
Only four days were remaining so the life of some certain teenagers went into a flash.
Although they had an assessment test just within some days, Lisa didn’t allow Aiden and his team to skip classes, and thus every day, they had to wait until the evening to begin their training.
Except for Silvie, no one had any problem. The little half-elven girl just gets too tired too soon, and Aident always goes easy on her. And considering that she was mostly given the task of healing others while she always remained in the protection of one teammate at the very least, allowed the green-haired girl to exert herself only a little more than her natural tolerance.
Rena and Aiden were the happiest beings alive, these days, given their fondness toward physical exercise and the prospect of getting stronger. They have always been the type to enjoy the pain and keep pushing forward, so training after classes posed no issue for them from the start.
Then came Dia and Fiona. The prior was just getting a hang of interacting with so many people while trying her best to assist her team as both, aggressor and defender. In comparison, Fiona was taking her time since she wasn’t overly enthusiastic about this teamwork at all. Again, the issue arises from the team leader which she believed to be Jin’s position.
Although she was not consent to having Aiden as the captain, she wasn’t creating a fuss or disobeying his commands as well. She knew, how important this was for Jin and if her whining could fail him in the evaluation…Fiona would not be able to forgive herself.
That was why she was trying to adapt to this team and do her best.
The most laborious one, these days, was, of course, Jin who not only was going through the classes and team training sessions but had to attend Amanda’s training course at night as well. And for god sake, those three hours always remain the scariest phase of his day.
Although he has successfully derived a sword art technique which was just a secondhand replication of the original one, Amanda persisted in teaching him further in this line.
She believed it would be better for Jin to master a single technique rather than presenting several half-baked ones.
As such, their days went by like that and on the seventh day after the meeting with the headmaster, the group of six stood on the training campus B.
“Nervous?” Whispering in a faint voice, Jin earned a startled expression from the blond princess before she turned to look at him, and shook her head vigorously.
However, the shake of her head soon turned vertical…as she accepted her defeat, “Maybe…I am a little.”
After she has confessed her feelings for Jin they haven’t been able to converse properly, but from his attitude and Fiona’s reaction these days whenever these two talk, it seems, Dia had a chance?
She didn’t know, and the princess was too scared to ask.
“Well, don’t worry. If you fall, I will make sure to catch you.” Dia’s heart fluttered at the commitment as she couldn’t help letting her lips stretch a little.
On the other side, Fiona’s grip on Jin’s hand tightened which made him realize his mistake before he hurriedly relayed it to her as well,
“Well, of course, I would back you up, as well.”
“Hmph! I don’t want the same treatment as Dia.” With a pout, the silver head turned her face away. She seldom got an opportunity to act spoiled these days, so now that she had the chance, why shouldn’t she?
However, she didn’t expect Jin to suddenly lean closer to her and whisper in such a tempting tone,
“So do you prefer a kiss as an assurance?”
Her eyes parted as she turned to look at him in surprise… however, seeing his teasing eyes, she narrowed her gaze.
Alright! If he wants to play it like that, she won’t kiss him for…for…half a day! At the very least!
Thanks to the two, Jin was able to relax a bit as he waited for the teachers to get done with their discussion. For some reason, he was feeling a little more anxious since morning, than he anticipated.
Whether it was just pre-exam nervousness or something else, Jin was unsure. However, now he was able to breathe a little calmly.
Glancing around, he found Silvie and Rena currently talking with Aiden at a side, probably discussing the last-minute details.
‘Well more than a discussion, it seems like Aiden and Rena are trying to calm Silvie…’ Just like Jin, Silvie seemed to be in great distress as well. However, unlike him, she couldn’t contain it inside very well, and in the end, she just began crying.
“Alright then, group up…” Hearing Lisa’s words, Aiden urged Silvie to get up, which the latter did, albeit a little hesitant. Rena cheerfully skipped her way toward the trio before she waited for the Professor to continue.
After Silvie and Aiden joined, the violet-haired resumed, “So this artificial dungeon possesses monsters up to rank B, no more than that. Your task is simple—collect ten mana stones of each rank, five of C-rank and one B-rank at the very least.”
Dia’s face lit up hearing that. She anticipated the test to be a lot tougher than this, but now, she knew they would pass with flying colors within hours.
However, Jin didn’t share the same thoughts since he knew there were twists so he asked in a heavy tone,
“Professor…even if we fulfill the requirement…we won’t pass that easily right?”
Everyone minus Aiden, turned to look at Jin with confusion written on their faces.
If they fulfill the objective…wouldn’t it mean, that they passed the test?
However, to prove his words right, Lisa’s coquettish chuckle made everyone focus back to the front as the lady folded her hand on her abdomen before she relayed,
“That’s correct. Even if you all, finish the mission within the allotted time, your selection won’t be set in stone, after all, the mission we are relaying could be finished only by Aiden and you, no?”
Jin had no words to retort since she was correct. B-rank monsters might have proven fatal if the newly enrolled Aiden and Jin had to face it. However, now, that Aiden has finally gained his connection with Excalius and Jin has the support of a Spirit Queen?
Not enough.
Soon everyone understood the implications of her words before Lisa continued, “We couldn’t give you all any more high-ranking monsters considering your safety, and up to B-rank would be merely half an hour’s worth of hard work…that is why there would be constant supervision of you all inside the dungeon. The observing unit would give you points based on your teamwork so make sure you guys work in that manner, alright?”
The rules were apparent. If they want to succeed then they have to show group skills, not individual talent.
‘We can do this…’ Aiden clenched his fist as he prepared to dive in and show the Professors how hard he and his team had worked.
….however, none of them were prepared for a catastrophe to suddenly emerge out of nowhere.
“I am back!”
