Let me be a mob! - Chapter 102- You did great...
Amanda had a goal. She wants to retain the relationship with Jin as a teacher and student.
Whether it was her commitment because of the bet she lost, or something else, Amanda cared none of it. All she knew and desired was for Jin to pass the trial which would be conducted five days from now on.
And for that, even if she has to beat Jin up, then that would be it.
“Haa….time please.”
Breathing heavily, Jin managed to steady himself, though his arms trembled and dizziness clouded his vision. Multiple injuries adorned his body, and his training attire was tattered from places.
The area in which they battled, which could now be likened to a training ground given that Amanda was forced to be mobile, bore the scars of their clash. The ground was marred with small and large craters, serving as evidence of the intense confrontation between Jin and Amanda.
“Not until you don’t injure me, Jin.” Readying her blade for another round, Amanda warned. She was not here for any dilly-dally. She wanted results from Jin and she knew he was the only person who could attain what even she failed at.
Jin honestly was a little frustrated now by her rash behavior since his body was now screaming for some much-needed rest.
“Just ten minute-fuck!!” He let out a sharp curse as he spotted Amanda turning into a blur, charging at him with formidable speed. Even though she wasn’t using her full strength, her intensity was still overwhelming for a mere C-rank.
*Clang*
Jin brandished his shattered dagger, now reduced to a few inches of blade with the remainder being the handle. Had it not been for the sturdy hilt, Jin’s hand could have been severely injured.
Brought to lock between the two blades, Jin asked Amanda in a cold tone, “Are you venting on me or something?”
Amanda didn’t have any particular reaction to that as she responded in her usual emotionless voice, “Whatever seems fit to you.”
Her words were quickly drowned out by the fierce collision of two weapons, clashing at a speed that anyone below a B-rank would struggle to track.
‘Damn…why is she so freakin strong…’ Blocking her attack, Jin has to simultaneously raise his lead to block her knee, intending to target his torso.
She was keeping a lid on her strength and speed but clearly trying to overpower him.
Jin recognized that defeat was imminent, and employing his skills in this situation would only beckon severe consequences. As Amanda’s pupil, he was reluctant to contradict her rules.
‘That leaves me with only one option…’ Disengaging from the clashing blades, Jin subtly shifted his body to narrowly evade the blades aiming for his shoulder. A brief half-second window was all he needed to employ his hip’s pivot, channeling enough force into his shoulder to shove the girl away.
As anticipated, Amanda was propelled several meters backward. In that instant, Jin realized he needed to make a move to conclude this skirmish.
‘Sword Art: Shadow.’ Inhaling deeply, he glided his left foot in an arc toward his back and bent slightly forward. His eyes closed and his focus completely converged on his reverse-held dagger with his free palm pressing the butt of the dagger, at the side of his waist.
With the lack of visibility eliminating the need for much contemplation, he could single-mindedly zero in on his target. Then, he burst forth at a speed that he himself would have found hard to believe had he been a mere observer.
His silhouette blurred and then vanished entirely. Given the surrounding darkness, his form melded seamlessly into the shadows, while Amanda remained rooted to the spot, not moving an inch.
In less than three seconds, she raised her index finger, effortlessly blocking the broken blade of Jin’s dagger that was aimed at her chest.
However, what surprised her was the fact that there was no wielder of the weapon.
“Wher-ah!” Just in the nick of time, she twirled on her feet to dodge the punch from behind.
Jin, seemingly appearing from thin air, couldn’t counteract the momentum and, unable to steady himself, was sent tumbling to the ground.
“Fuck!” He let out a painful groan, his face pressed firmly against the ground. The realization that he had missed his target, despite his meticulous plan, only intensified his agony.
Because of his inner banter and annoyance, he missed the rare astonished look on Amanda’s face as she brought her palm to her chest and found her heart beating a little more intensely than normal.
‘What is this…why I am feeling like this…’ Was it because Jin was exceptionally good at his game and smarter than how she evaluated him before? No, that wasn’t it…
Then what?
Amanda didn’t bother thinking about it for now since there was something more important to focus on at the moment.
“Here.”
Jin saw the offered hand of his teacher. He indeed was frustrated because of her behavior but he wasn’t a fool to not realize the motive behind her action.
With a deep sigh, he held her hand and got back on his wobbly feet.
He was extremely tired.
However, as soon as his gaze landed on the lady in front he found his fatigue somehow melting away.
She was…smiling?
‘Wha….’ Jin couldn’t believe his eyes but there was no doubt about it. Amanda was smiling at the moment and it wasn’t that she was making fun of him…she was genuinely elated.
“You did a great job, Jin. With such a performance, I dare say, not even the Headmaster could separate us.”
‘Phrasing, Amanda…’ Jin wanted to facepalm but he held himself since this was a rare situation where he was getting complimented by his teacher.
“Well, it’s all thanks to you that I am forced to learn things that I would have taken years to even attempt.”
There was no lie, no flattering, no fabrication. Just pure gratitude.
And Amanda could feel the warmth in his words, which somehow calmed her heart down, but her face turned slightly hot.
Must be the weather.

After bidding farewell to the President, Jin wanted to go back to his dorm and get changed at the very least but since he was already half an hour late, he rushed toward the place where he had to meet his girlfriend.
There was no one around but he had to look out for the professor on patrol.
It didn’t take much time for him to reach the garden where the beauty sat with her hair fallen down her shoulder and eyes drawn toward the flowers. She was wearing her casual clothes which consisted of a white top with frilly straps and a black skirt which enhanced her youthful beauty.
Seriously, sometimes Jin doubted how he was able to get himself such an otherworldly girlfriend.
“Hey, Fiona.”
“Jin…huh?”
