Chapter 13 – The Next Event Is Approaching During Lunch
“Excuse me for intruding!”
“For intruding~!”
“Welcome!”
Monday, July 8th.
It’s become a daily routine for Akari and I to go to the student council room during lunch break and eat our lunches together.
“Sorry for jumping right in, Ibuki-kun. Are you free this weekend?”
“Weekend? I’m probably free…”
“President…”
At Shiori’s sudden invitation, Akari’s eyes narrowed, and she started to look intimidating.
“No, no. Don’t glare at me like that, Akari-chan. A date with Ibuki-kun is tempting, but that’s not it this time.”
“This time!?”
“…Please don’t play around with Sera too much. Just get to the point quickly.”
“Yeah. Sorry. I’ll get to the point.”
Shiori suddenly stood up, placed a mysterious small package on the desk where I was sitting, and returned to her seat as if nothing just happened and started talking.
“This time, it’s a consultation from a certain student. I trust you all won’t gossip about it. Oh, and of course, I’ve received permission from the person involved. They might ask a trustworthy friend for help.
Since it’s a long weekend, there’s an event on Sunday and Monday.
I’m not very knowledgeable about such things, but… it seems to be an anime cosplay event or something like that. The person who consulted me was supposed to go with a few acquaintances from far away, but they all ended up being unable to come for various reasons.
By the way, inside that package is tamagoyaki. If it doesn’t taste good, don’t hesitate to let me know. It would also help if you let me know your taste preferences.
But it seems the person who consulted me really wants to go to this event… and they’re anxious about going alone. If possible, they would like a reliable person to be with them.
They trusted me because I’m the student council president, and I also have some connections with this person. I’d like to help as much as I can.
So, how about it, Ibuse-kun? I’d be happy if you could accompany them…”
“Um… could you stop flooding me with information all at once?”
“…Shall I repeat it?”
“No, that’s fine. I got the gist of it.”
I completely ignored it halfway through, but it’s not a big deal. The person asking for advice is most likely Kinoshita Nanami. I vaguely remember her visiting the student council room during lunch last week, and hearing a similar conversation in the game.
So this is probably the trigger for Nanami’s event. In comparison to Akari’s event, it’s probably something like the timing of Akari’s secret social media account creation.
I had completely forgotten that it was almost time for Nanami’s event. And honestly, I have no motivation to deal with Nanami. After all, Nanami’s story is——
“Um, President.”
“Yeah? What’s wrong?”
While I was thinking of how to respond, Akari pointed to the package in front of me and began to ask Shiori.
“This… What did you say this was?”
“It’s tamagoyaki.”
“…Whoses?”
“…Ibuse-kun’s.”
“…Why?”
“…Eating convenience store lunch boxes all the time can be nutritionally unbalanced. Also, I usually make my own lunch box, and it’s not much trouble to just make a bit more. So, today, I thought I’d have him try my tamagoyaki to get a taste of my cooking.”
“That’s not what I was asking…!”
Akari was unusually angry at Shiori, who spoke so nonchalantly.
“This is as if the President is… Senpai’s w-wi…”
“Huh? Wi…?”
“Wi-w-wi…wife…”
“Hmm~?”
“Hey. I told you not to tease Sera too much, didn’t I?”
Seeing Akari’s face turn bright red and her struggle to find words, I decided to sternly address Shiori instead.
“…Sorry. But I really do care about your health, you know?”
“Then you should have mentioned it beforehand. What if I had an egg allergy or something?”
“…I suppose that’s true. Sorry.”
Shiori also looked embarrassed, and the atmosphere became awkward. Having two girls around can cause all sorts of trouble. It’s definitely something to watch out for.
“See, the president is apologizing, so cheer up, okay?”
“…I’ll eat it.”
“Huh?”
Trying to cheer up Akari, she muttered that and grabbed the package from in front of me. She opened it and faced the neatly arranged tamagoyaki in the long box.
“I’d rather eat this than have Senpai eat it… nom… mmm… mmm…”
She continued to eat one tamagoyaki, then another. She didn’t say anything in particular, she just kept eating.
“…Here, Senpai. I’ll give it to you.”
Then she handed the last tamagoyaki back to me. Maybe it wasn’t very tasty.
Even though I thought that, I decided to eat it too.
“…Whoaa, it’s good.”
It wasn’t just that my expectations had been lowered. Compared to the tamagoyaki I had in my previous life, this was outstandingly delicious. It seems Akari thought so too, as she enjoyed the taste while nearly crying.
“It’s really delicious… I can’t compete with this…”
“I’m glad it suits your taste. By the way, Akari-chan. Next time if there’s a chance, I’ll teach you how to make it.”
“Really?!?”
“Yeah, of course. Though, it’s not anything special. I’m sure Akari-chan could make it even better.”
“Thank you so much, President!”
I’m so glad their relationship didn’t fall apart. I guess that settles the matter… Wait…
“…Was today’s main topic really about tamagoyaki?”
“…Let’s save that discussion for tomorrow.”
