It’ll Definitely be Alright
“Thank you for listening to me, Natsuki.”
Sakurako said her thanks while sitting on top of a table.
“Don’t mention it. It’s been a while since I ate one of these anyway.”
Saying that, Natsuki happily took a bite on a donut.
The place the two of them decided to have a talk in, was a donut shop that opened about a year ago. For high school girls who are commuting to and from school in the vicinity, it’s one of the places where they can rest and relax.
The customers inside the shop are all female. The reason for this being there were many school buildings in the area. During afterschool, the customers are all young women.
“Since you just started dating, you’d want to go home with Morita-kun, right?”
After taking a sip of her coffee, while her face contorted due to the bitterness Sakurako was somehow able to show a stiff smile. She ordered coffee because she was eyeing the free refill promo, but Sakurako doesn’t particularly like coffee that much.
“Not really. Both of us agreed that if we go home with just the two of us, we will be found out by the entire class. We’re in something of an emergency until yesterday, so starting today we’re being careful. We won’t be flirting outside for a while…… I think.”
While saying such things lacking in confidence, Natsuki drank her coffee.
“It’s delicious. —— But, don’t you want to tell Aki as well? I’ really not that good in the ways of love. I might not be of any help to you.”
“Aki might get distracted, so I was thinking of talking to her tomorrow.
Look, she’s checking those novels with Morita-kun, right? I don’t want her to have too much on her plate.”
“It seems like she’ll be doing the checks with Naoto at the library.”
“Just the two of them?”
“No. Maybe there’s four of them there, with Aki, Hatsumi and Makoto-san. He said he want to send the novels to Tachibana-san and to me before the day ends.”
“If their work on the novel will end within today, would I only have this ay to borrow Natsuki from Morita-kun?”
“Why? It’s not like I became the property of that guy.”
While saying that, Natsuki drank her coffee to hide her smile.
“But no matter how you think about it, he does tell you ‘Natsuki is my girl, remember that’, right?”
“He doesn’t tell me such things!”
“Then have him tell you—. Make him tell you that he’ll never let you go again—”
“Why—?”
“If you make Naoto crazy for you like little Natsuki did in the past, and make him devoted to you. You need to make hi absolutely unable to leave you.”
“Why do I need to go that far?”
“Ah—-, if you don’t pay attention, he’ll be taken by someone else, you know.”
“There’s no way that would happen. He’s head over heels for me, after all.”
“E—h? You do know that right now, Morita-kun is surrounded by people who are either fans or are interested in his novel, right? You’re not worried about that, Natsuki?”
“It’s not like I don’t mind it one bit, but for almost two years he was aversive to girls, even though originally he talked to girls more than boys. I originally fell in love with that guy because I understood that side of him, and I’ afraid that it might be a bit selfish of me to hate him because of that. If I tell him to ‘I don’t want you hanging out in a group with only girls’, Nao-kun will be troubled.”
“But doesn’t it seem that Morita-kun super hate it when Natsuki hangs out with other guys?”
“That looks to be the case. But it’s not like I like guys that much, so it wouldn’t bother me if he tells me to stop hanging out with them.
When I wonder if telling Nao-kun to stop hanging out with girls is the same as me being told to stop hanging out with other girls, I couldn’t get myself to tell him so.”
“You’re so mature, Natsuki—”
“Well, he did tell me ‘You can tell me anytime if you’re uneasy with how I interact with other girls.’ So if I feel like he’s being too intimate with other girls, I’ll tell him to cease.”
“If you ask me, I think he’s already pretty close with Aki though. Doesn’t it look like Morita-kun’s the closest guy to Aki?”
“It’s not actually a recent thing, but technically, they’ve been on speaking terms way before.”
“Did she get an interest in him after reading his novel?”
“Hmmm, I wonder…… she did say that the main character took care of her character in the novel.”
“I wonder if Morita-kun is aiming after Aki’s body.”
“Geez—— why did you suddenly came to that assumption?!
Just so you know, Nao-kun himself knows that he’s a perv, so when he sees other guys only thinking weird things, he said he’s concerned about us.”
“That’s, well, that much is actually true. Almost all of the boys are just running on self-restraint, right?”
“Nao-kun has told me many times how a girl being alone with a guy is dangerous.”
“Being alone with a guy is definitely dangerous. I’m also have my guard on such things.”
“But you’re going on a date with Iida-kun with just the two of you?”
“It’s not a date! We’re just going to shop for clothes, remember?”
“Really—? After buying clothes, you won’t go with him if he aked you to eat something or watch a movie or go to karaoke?”
“……I’ll go.”
“And if he invites you to his house?”
“There’s no way he would go that far.”
“You don’t know—, what will you do if he does invite you?
Saying that he wants you to check his home wear coordination as well, and that you’re he can only rely on Hirose-san about this.”
“Eh—…… that would be troubling.”
Not seemingly troubled at all, Sakurako answered while blushing.
“You really like those moments when you can’t immediately decline the invitation, don’t you?”
“Because, it’s hard to refuse if I’m asked that way. ……So is it really the case that I like Iida-kun?”
“It’s obvious you are. If he kissed you on the way home from your date, you won’t be able to break your friendship with him, right?”
“I can’t. Or rather, I might be too happy……”
Sakurako’s hands were stirring about while imagining the scene.
“Then you do like him.”
“Is it that possible to immediately fall in love with someone?”
“Isn’t that possible? When Nao-kun started acting kindly towards me, I immediately fell in love with him.”
“About that, you’ve known each other for a long time, then there was a period where you can’t get close to each other, so the value of that kindness is different, isn’t it? It’s a given that you’ll feel happy after he suddenly acted kindly towards you after a long time.
Iida and I are just friends, so there’s no way he would think anything of it. Isn’t that kind of development too fast?
He’ll just be put off one he learns that I like him.”
“He’s not that kind of person now, is he?”
“Is that so……? Even I can’t explain myself why I fell in love with him. Would he hate me if I make him think I fell for him because I was charmed by his face or such?”
“I think he’s the kind of person who would have a distorted view about it if you just truthfully tell him that you like him.
When we met at the arcade on new year’s, we talked about a regular who has lost his little finger. Isn’t it the little finger that the red string is attached? That why Iida joked that if Nao-kun loses his pinkies then he will be dumped by me.”
“Eh—-?! That’s unexpected! He said such a cute thing?”
“I was also a bit surprised. I wondered if he’s not scary despite his looks. Maybe, rather than it sounding like a lie, calling him a weird person would’ve made the atmosphere iffy. Iida-kun’s not a weird guy after all.”
“Right? Iida-kun has that side of him. Even I did not dislike it when I was making okonomiyaki for him. Normally, when guys don’t express their gratitude it feels itchy or dull, right? Even though that’s the case, I’m simply happy. I wonder why.”
“I might know. You thought that he’s a good person when you heard the story of how the two of them threw Tachibana-san’s pet bottle.”
“That’s it, I also got that Morita-kun is a respectful guy, I thought how a good person he is. He’s somewhat similar in personality with Morita-kun in places. Did that, in addition to other things, made me fall in love with him?”
Sakurako said in a gleeful manner.
“Then how about telling him that?”
“Telling him what?”
“The reason you fell in love with him. Like when you thought that he’s a good person when you heard his and Morita-kun’s story, how about telling him everything slowly?”
“Explaining everything would just be a bother to him, I would be telling unrelated stuff and make it too long anyway.”
“He’s a person so kind it made Sakurako fall for him, so it would not be a bother to hi even if you’re explanation took an hour.”
“Is that really so? Won’t he get bored and fall asleep in the middle of it?”
“It’ll definitely be alright. I think he’ll earnestly listen to you until the end.”
“Even though you’re pretty discreet about your love life, you’re very aggressive in giving advice to other people’s love life, aren’t you Natsuki?”
“Because, I’m too worried about a lot of things. It makes me impatiently want to hear about it.”
“Is that something someone who couldn’t approach Morita-kun even though they were assigned to the same class have a right to say?! That’s something I don’t especially want Natsuki telling me though!”
The two of them became somewhat crazy, and they laughed with trembling shoulders. Even though Natsuki thought they need to be quiet since they’re inside a store, seeing Sakurako covering her mouth in a hurry, thinking that their companion was also restraining her laughter, they became even crazier.
To the two who are twisting their body and holding in their laughter, the other customers at the store looked at them in curiosity.
