“You were surprised aren’t you, Iida-kun. I’m sorry you had to come here, it’s not Iida-kun’s fault at all.”

Sakurako acted cheerful at Iida who’s sitting beside her.

“Even if that’s the case, I failed to notice that you were having worries. I came here on my own to at least offer to be by your side. I might be a nuisance for you, though.”

“No, I’m happy. Thank you.”

“Then, I’m glad that I came.”

“……Earlier, I suddenly felt ashamed of myself, you see.”

“Why?”

“At first, when I heard that Iida-kun and Morita-kun both had a crush on the most popular girl in school, I thought the cutest girls really are ones who get popular, which is rude. Even back when I heard from Iida-kun how Morita-kun was rejected, I thought that the girl may have good looks, but she’s a terrible person.”

“Nah, it’s not your fault for thinking that way. Even I though the same anyway.”

“But, in truth she was a really good person. She’s smart enough to tell if the person she’s with is in some kind of trouble, and she’s a quick-thinker as well. She was even able to have restrain and be aware of any prying eyes around her.

Right now, that person, in a way, has been put in a position where she’s being protected. I thought, isn’t that really frustrating for her?

Surely, back when she asked Morita-kun for a handshake, on top of being aware that he has a girlfriend named Natsuki, she must be thinking to herself that even so she must ask Morita-kun for a handshake…… those were my thoughts.

“I’m very happy, you know. Whenever I’m talking with Hirose-san, somehow, I’m having a bit of the same mood that Morita’s having recently.”

“There is a lot but, for instance…… there was that time when Oshida-san persuaded Morita to meet up with Tachibana-san, right? That was a really big turning point in my opinion.

It was because of Morita going to meet up with her that the conversation went from his essay to him writing a novel, and it made Tachibana-san be able to shake hands with a guy. Even that talk about escargot wouldn’t have happened if Morita wasn’t there at that time. If I went to that meet-up without Morita, the occasion wouldn’t be that lively even one bit.

That Morita was able to talk so much that day, I think it was because Oshida-san was by his side to boost his confidence. It felt like he has overcome his doubts, and even talked to Tachibana-san in a sharp tone, facing her as an equal unlike in the past, that was extremely cool of him.”

“Certainly, he was really cool with his confidence. I thought that if it was that much, then even Natsuki would’ve felt relieved.”

“As I thought, having a girl’s words to back you up really makes one thankful. Even me running here without any hesitation was because of receiving courage from spending the whole of today with Hirose-san. It’s not like you hate me so much, with that in mind I was able to obtain the confidence that you’ll forgive me if I apologize.

“If that’s true, then it’s like you became a little Morita, and that’s weird.”

Sakurako laughed while crying.

Iida felt a bit relieved seeing Sakurako’s smile,

“I’m sorry, this was all because I suck at explaining things.”

“Anyhow, talking with Hirose-san really made me happy.

Morita was always saying how just talking with Oshida-san is bliss, I was thinking that their conversations might be similar to ours.

That’s why, I want you to trouble me more.”

“Then, if I cause trouble for you every day, you wouldn’t hate me?”

“I won’t.”

“You’re lying, if it’s every day, you’ll definitely get annoyed.”

“Won’t that be just fine?

Before Christmas, Morita told me how happy he was for being relied on every single day.”

“Natsuki’s way of troubling him was the kind that boys would be glad to be bothered for. I’m not cute after all. You’ll definitely get tired of it eventually, Iida-kun.”

“Why do you say so? Just now, when you told me the reason you were crying, you were so cute. I’m very happy to learn on more thing about Hirose-san though.”

“Is that really how you think of me?”

“Really, really. If it’s okay with you, I want us to hang out together tomorrow too.”

Sakurako realized that there’s something she hasn’t explained to Natsuki.

“I’m sorry, but I have to call Natsuki!

When I heard Natsuki’s voice earlier, I suddenly burst into tears, so she might be worrying right now. Is it okay if I call her?”

“Absolutely. I also have to call Morita to express my thanks.

That guy told me, you see. He said he doesn’t know if it’s okay to tell me or not, but Hirose-san was crying.”

“I’m just kidding. I was totally touched when you came for me.”

“But, with Morita and Oshida-san being there together for me, I feel like it helped me a lot. If the two of them were doing their own thing and one of them was sleeping, I don’t think I would’ve known that Hirose-san was crying.”

“Yeah, you can take your time to talk to her lots. We can take how many times tomorrow to spend together, so let’s take this time first to thank them.”

“I like guys who have that kind of thinking. When Sakurako said that with a smile, Iida’s face went all red and hot.”

When he saw Sakurako starting to talk on the phone,

Sakurako explained to Natsuki only the bare minimum, then ended the call.

“And we’re also done with the shopping today, right? I’m just asking to make sure, though.”

Looking a bit worried, Iida asked.

“Shopping?”

When Sakurako asked, she immediately remembered.
