ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
With the club registration application approved, we gathered in an empty classroom for introductions as well.
“Good thing the empty classroom next to the infirmary was available. I’m not good at walking, you know. This way I can get here easily.”
When we applied for a clubroom to carry out our activities, we were told we could freely use two empty classrooms next to the infirmary. Originally, they were intended for overflow in case of mass emergencies or as a temporary evacuation space, so no one ever used them.
“Sensei, aren’t you busy?”
“Nope. I’m the school nurse exclusively for boys. Girls aren’t allowed in here.”
Since the rooms were intended as evacuation shelters, they had a water dispenser, beds, and even emergency food stored inside. There was even a refrigerator, making the facilities sufficient for a small group to live there for several days.
“I want to stay here forever.”
Midorino sprawled across a sofa bed while listening to music.
“Hmph. Not bad.”
For some reason, Akai was also sitting in a chair while reading a book.
“Sensei, can I turn on the Wi-Fi? I want to use my computer.”
Seiya pulled out his laptop and connected it to the internet.
“Why not?”
They’re way too nonchalant about this! Sensei, is it really okay for you to be lying on the bed?
“All right, preparations are done. Yoru, why don’t you take a seat too?”
Seiya took over the computer desk, placing himself where he could see everyone. I sat down on one of the extra chairs and waited for Seiya to speak.
“Okay then, let’s start the meeting of the Boys’ cheer team. Since this is our first day, I’d like us to do some introductions and talk about our future direction. We’re classmates and we’ve already introduced ourselves before, so let’s each tell Sensei our name and hobby.”
“Okay! I’m Youhei Midorino. Call me Youhei. I like music—listening to it and making it. In the cheer team, I want to make lots of cheer songs. Oh, and I also like drawing. That’s it~.”
Still lying on the sofa, he quickly stated his hobbies and what he wanted to do, then stopped.
“Hmph. I’m Hayato Akai. I’m only a temporary member for now. I-It’s not like I came because I was the only one in class who hadn’t joined something, okay? You can call me Hayato, as a special exception. My hobby is reading, and I joined because I was interested in the activities of the cheer team.”
Hayato stood up properly and gave his self-introduction while facing Sensei.
Am I the only one who thought he sounded a little tsundere?
“Next is me. I’m Seiya Shirogane. You can call me Seiya. In the cheer team, I’ll be taking the role of strategist, basically summarizing our future plans and direction. My hobby is people-watching, and I like talking with lots of different people.”
Seiya seemed used to situations like this, and finished smoothly without hesitation.
“Um… I’m Yoru Kurose. I’m the cheer team captain. Yoru or Captain, either is fine. My purpose in starting this club was to create a chance to get closer to girls. My hobby is training my body. Recently I’ve also started cooking. If everyone cooperates, I think we can become friends with lots of girls. Nice to meet you.”
It was hard to put my words together, but I somehow managed to get them out. Seiya grinned at me, which was irritating. When I mentioned getting closer to girls, Akai’s glasses seemed to glint. This guy might be the quiet, unfriendly on the outside type but actually wanted to get close to girls as well.
“All right, last is me. I’m Kaoru Kanzaki, the school nurse. Call me Kaoru-sensei. My specialty is treating injuries. I also have a doctor’s license, so you can consult me about illnesses too. Aside from that, I can listen to your worries. If you’re troubled about girls, come talk to me. I’m married, so I should be able to give you advice about romance as well.”
When the soft-spoken teacher began to talk, the tense atmosphere eased.
“Now then, I have a question for all of you.”
Kaoru-sensei continued after his self-introduction.
“Yes, what is it?”
Seiya answered on behalf of the group.
“Do you guys have someone you like? You’re already first-year high schoolers. I imagine you’ve had some interest in girls or experiences with them in your lives so far. How about it?”
At the question, we all glanced at each other.
“Hmm, maybe that question is too embarrassing? In that case, we’ll do it by teacher’s choice. Whoever I point to has to say either a girl’s name or describe their relationship.”
A sudden “say the name of the girl you like” session began, and in my head I recalled faces of girls. The first one that came to mind was Ran Souma-san. Since our Golden Week date, we had kept up messaging on Main, and I hoped we could go on another date during summer vacation.
Thinking about Ran-san, I also remembered holding the beautiful Student Council President, Reika Toudou. That had been embarrassing. I wondered how the President had felt about it. The only two I was really interested in right now were those two.
But then, the face of Yuuna Aoyanagi came to mind. My childhood friend, who had always been by my side. Recently, both of us had been busy, and we no longer had time to really talk.
“All right, Hayato first.”
“Wha—! Why me?”
“Because you look like the socially awkward type.”
Apparently, from the earlier exchanges, even Kaoru-sensei had figured out Hayato was socially awkward.
“Wh-What! I am not! I like Ichika Mimori-san, because I think we share similar hobbies. See? I can say it clearly. I’m not socially awkward!”
At the name Ichika Mimori, I remembered the bookish, glasses-wearing girl who often carried supplies.
“She was second in the entrance exams, very smart. She joined the Book Club to become a librarian. She’s serious, earnest, and basically a wonderful person.”
Where did he get all that info? I’d never seen Hayato and Ichika talking. Could it be that they were actually close, and I just didn’t know?
“I see, I see. Having someone you like is a good thing. Next, Seiya-kun.”
Clearly put off, the teacher switched targets.
“Me? I don’t have any memories from middle school, so I don’t know if I’ve ever liked a girl before. Since entering high school, a few things happened that made me afraid of women. So right now, the women I like most are my family.”
Apparently Seiya lived with his mother and an older sister.
“How about you, Youhei?”
“Me? I guess music is my lover. So I like girls who sing well. Lately I’ve been listening to Aimer and Uru a lot.”
“I see, so professional musicians then. That might make the girls around here a bit disappointed.”
In this world where the concept of chastity was reversed, if a girl agreed, Youhei’s wish could actually come true.
“Finally, how about you, Yoru?”
Everyone’s attention turned to me.
“I… I have three people I’m interested in. I’ve exchanged contact info with two of them.”
Ran Souma-san.
Student Council President Reika Toudou.
Yuuna Aoyanagi
I still didn’t know which of the three I really liked.
“I see. Surprisingly enough, Yoru is the most mature one.”
At Kaoru-sensei’s words, Hayato glared at me, looking oddly frustrated.

Geh, no Yuna bad like terribad choice. MC why are you so fixated on a girl that called you gross constantly and tried to isolate you….
Poor Hayato. He’s already bss’d.
