- Chapter 27 : Revenge Of The Princess [2]
A mysterious feeling enveloped my chest—a sensation of superiority, a feeling that I could do anything, surged through my veins. Shortly after, warm arms languidly wrapped around my neck. I focused my gaze on Lily and her Fenrir, both standing frozen and dumbstruck.
‘Claude, you only have 30 seconds.’
Since our souls hadn’t fully merged, I could only access a fraction of Diana’s power. However, she could lend me a hand forcefully at times like this, although victory wasn’t guaranteed.
‘Thanks, it’s good enough.’
Taking a large stride, I bent my right knee forward and held the hilt of my sword with both hands at waist level, the blade parallel to my front leg. My eyes remained locked onto the blond elf and her wolf.
[Shifting Point]
In the blink of an eye, I stood in front of Lily and the Fenrir, ready to strike. However, the Fenrir reacted cleverly, instantly creating a gigantic wall that separated the room into two. Despite the wall in front of me, I continued the momentum of my arms and slashed through the ice barrier.
[Walpurgis Hollow]
After swinging my sword, a blazing bluish-red cleave shot out from my wooden sword, annihilating the entire ice wall and creating a white fog in front of me. Deprived of sight, it became harder to locate Lily.
“Damn it! Tsk!”
Emerging from the fog, Lily thrust her sword directly at my face. I blocked it with the blade, and Lily’s weapon slid a hair’s breadth away from grazing my right cheek. As we moved, Lily preemptively pulled her wooden sword back, taking a step backward, and then advanced, thrusting her sword again. Instinctively, I ducked, evading the tip of her wooden sword.
Blinded by the fog, I couldn’t see anything, so I focused my gaze between her legs.
[Shifting Point]
Once more, I teleported, appearing behind Lily with my back to her. I pivoted my entire body, attempting to strike her from behind, but Lily blocked my attack with her wooden sword hanging on her back. At the same time, Fenrir pounced at me.
‘I’ll handle it.’
A violet magic circle manifested at my side, and a black spear pierced Fenrir’s chest. While my attention was on the Fenrir, Lily’s sword tip stabbed me through the center of my chest, causing intense pain.
“Kuh! Auuugh!”
I leaped back and assumed a defensive stance, still in agony. Breathing was difficult with the injury to my chest. Lily wasted no time and advanced, exchanging sword strikes with me for a few seconds before we were interrupted by the Fenrir. Despite its wounds, the Fenrir quickly recovered and charged at me with ice needles. It seemed like Lily had planned this from the beginning. The intensity of the fight boiled my blood.
I leaped backward to evade the ice needles, but at that moment, Diana’s time limit expired, leaving me on my own. Without warning, ice shards manifested below me. I blocked one with my sword, but another stabbed my left side, almost taking out my entire left flank. I groaned in pain.
“Aaaugh!”
‘Are you okay, Claude?’
‘I’m fine.’
Suddenly, I saw Lily holding her sword overhead, yelling above me.
“Aaah!”
“Overload!” I yelled.
A surge of quintessence erupted from my body, blasting Lily and her Fenrir, sending them crashing into the wall. I managed to pull myself out of the ice that had stabbed me, coughing up blood on the ground.
“Cough Cough-Cough Cough”
Lily showed no signs of holding back in our fight, which worried me. If this continued, I would end up dead. I clenched the wound on my side, applying pressure to stop the bleeding with my left hand. I locked my gaze on Lily, my eyes filled with animosity.
“Alright, stop!”
Master Irene shouted, putting an end to the fight between Lily and me. A tremendous sigh of relief escaped my chest upon hearing her words. I flopped down to the ground, losing consciousness.

“Waaah—!” I abruptly lifted my upper body.
I looked down and saw my naked self with a white bandage around my abdomen. On my right, I saw Clara standing beside the bed I was sleeping on with her emotionless expression, as usual.
“You’re awake, young master.”
“U-Ugh, yeah… What happened?”
“You lost consciousness because of blood loss when sparring with Princess Lily.”
“Oh yeah…”
“If you’re worried about your wound, young master, worry not. The damage you’ve taken is not severe, and you seem to have a regenerative ability. While tending your wounds, I saw them closing by itself.”
“Really?!”
“Yes, if I may excuse myself, I’ll leave you, young master.”
“Yeah… Thanks, Clara, as always.”
“It’s my job to take care of you, Young Master.”
Clara bowed once again before leaving me alone in my room. After she left, I called Diana.
‘Diana?’
‘Mmhmm…? Claude?’
‘Hey, are you sleeping?’
‘Yeah… Sleepy~ Healing you took a lot of energy~’
‘Oooh… Okay, you can go back to sleep’
‘Okie~’
“Haah…”
Lying on the bed, gazing at the ceiling while mulling over the fight earlier with Lily.
“Where did it go wrong?”
“Sword? Distance? Did I even panic? Or was it because there’s a vast difference between our swordsmanship? From one glance, I can tell she’s experienced at using a sword. Was it because of her spirit? Although the ice barrier really caught me off-guard. I didn’t expect her to still have it since her Fenrir was summoned.”
“If I had struck them faster with the Walpurgis Hollow, they would’ve easily… Wait, that can kill them…”
The sudden realization kicked in. I almost killed Lily. Luckily, her Fenrir created that barrier, or she would’ve totally been dead right now… Directly getting hit by that would be disastrous. Although I have no clue how devastating that would be, I got a feeling it’s deadly, plus it’s my first time using it ever. But she did the same, so we’re equal on that.
However, at the back of my head, I’ve had a hunch that she’s been wanting to kill me since the beginning. What did I do to her? I do admit that I stalked her like a creep, but other than that… I mean, that alone won’t really… But what if it did? So complicated!
Later on, the door in my room opened. Behind the door was Lily with an apologetic face. Closing the door, she stood right in front of it.
“Uhm… Claude?”
I squinted my eyes. “What?”
“I’m sorry!”
Lily bent her upper body in half, bowing to me. Of course, it baffled me because I’m certain she wants to kill me at some point, and even until right now. That’s why I got suspicious of her. I don’t buy her apology; there must be a catch.
“What do you want?”
“I’m really sorry about earlier and about last time!”
“You’re only apologizing to me right now?”
“Yes! I’m sorry!”
“It’s no use. So, what do you really want? You’ve been wanting to kill me ever since we met.”
“Eh? Killing you? What are you saying?” replied Lily, as she tilted her head in confusion.
“Don’t play dumb with me, acting like a kid. Last time, you clearly had an intention of ending my life right there. Then earlier, you deliberately didn’t hold back against me even though it’s only sparring. So what’s your game? I’m not someone whom you can easily fool. If you think I’m naïve and a fool, then you’re wrong. Just leave me alone. No matter how many times you apologize, I won’t accept it. Leave me alone and never talk to me. While at it, bring this with you. Think of it as my proper send-off and welcome gift for you.” I gave her the middle finger.
The wound that Lily inflicted hasn’t fully healed yet; because of that, it began aching, which made me groan in pain. “Fck!.”
Lily’s eyes widened, and a while later, she lowered her gaze and left the room with tears falling from her eyes. Instead of feeling remorseful about her, it only fueled the anger inside me. If she thinks a simple apology would win me over, then she’s mistaken.
I have the right to be angry because she almost killed me. If it weren’t for Diana, I would be dead by now.
