Is it okay for a loner like me to have a yandere? - Chapter 14- Ruined?
A deluxe kind of room was reserved with unlimited snacks, a private cabin, and soundproofing.
I didn’t know how much she paid for it and I didn’t want to know. It will hurt my male ego.
I knew even a whole month of allowance wouldn’t be enough to book this room for a whole day.
I was sitting in the room while Suzune-san went to the bathroom.
I checked my phone and saw there were still three unread messages from Yuki.
I didn’t open the chat. I didn’t want to bitter my mood.
I texted Mum and asked her to transfer me some money. The month was nearing the end so I had like three thousand on me. And I am not letting her pay for everything.
The text was delivered, and not so long after, I received five thousand in my account and a message attached to it, “Buy her a gift.”
I didn’t respond to her…since I wasn’t sure if I could buy a gift for her with only this much.
Needless to say, I didn’t ask for more money from her.
Dad was an office employee so his earnings were limited. I try to save my allowance as much as I can—saving it for college.
For something so fleeting like a date with Suzune-san who wasn’t even my real partner…I surely won’t spend on her to appear cool.
“What are you thinking?” Asked Suzune-san who walked inside while holding a few books.
My eyes slightly widened when I looked at the cover of the light novel.
The Chronicles of Knight Zero.
The fuck?!
“You read this?” I asked, my voice barely contained.
“Ah, yes. It is one of my favorite light novels.” She smilingly said as she rested the latest volume on the table.
W-What is it? It’s such a coincidence that a girl likes light novels, which was surprising in itself, was a fan of the same book I am crazy about?!
“Aki-kun, you are shaking.” She said with her eyes going round.
“I am sorry…it’s just…I never thought Suzu loved light novels.” I said, my eyes glancing between her and the light novel.
For a few moments, there was no response.
What?
She looked shocked…did I say something wrong?
But then, “I always read them in my free time, and this genre is quite likable.” She said with a warm smile.
She picked the novel and said, “I wasn’t able to read the volume. Did you?”
I nodded, “I read halfway, but if you want, we can start again.”
Although I said that, reading a novel together would be… difficult. Unless we sat really close. Too close.
I glanced at Suzune-san. She nodded and started preparing to read.
Oh god… she’s really okay with this? Sitting close to a guy in a quiet, closed room where every sound could sneak outside?
Doesn’t she worry I might do something? Or… does she not even see me as a guy? I hope that’s not it.
She tied her hair and said, “Shall we begin? Let’s turn off the lights first.”
Lights off?! Wait—what?!
You wanna read with just a reading lamp on… and the rest of the room in darkness?
Suzune-san… that’s dangerous, y’know.
I’m a well-behaved, respectful young man, but still… I am a guy! What if I accidentally brush against you and you scream harassment?
Panicking just a little, I suggested, “Maybe we shouldn’t turn off the lights… I mean, sitting close together, in the dark, reading a book side by side—”
DHAK
My words froze in my throat.
Suzune-san pulled out what looked like a sleek holograph projector from under the table. It had a book compartment attached and began to project the pages onto the wall.
She blinked at me with those big sparkly eyes.
My face caught fire.
And then… she grinned.
Oh no. She heard me, didn’t she?
Yup. Confirmed.
She tilted her head, eyes shining with mischief. “Aki-kun… were you planning to sit reeeally close… like, shoulder-to-shoulder… and read a book in the dark~?”
“…”
Kill me.
Hello? Satan-san? I’d like to donate my soul. Immediately.
Ughhh. This is so embarrassing.
“Fufu~ You have become bolder and naughty, Aki-kun~” she giggled.
I slammed a cushion onto my face.
WHY did I have to speak first?!
For the rest of the afternoon, I only felt awkward but once we reached some interesting parts, I slowly began to calm down.
I could see that she actually enjoyed the novel, asking me things and discussing the scenes, showing she really followed the novel.
I was having a fun time. After a very long time, I felt like I was being myself. Not pretending, not hiding.
….
[After a few hours]
We read only halfway, just to the point I finished previously.
We were fast readers that’s why we read half the volume by one o’clock.
We were walking out of the cafe manga, seemingly moving to have lunch and visit somewhere else.
When I asked, ‘Won’t the money paid get wasted?’
Her response surprised me, ‘I took the room hourly. Don’t worry.’ smart girl. I like that.
We walked out and the glaring sunlight made me narrow my eyes.
“Shall we go?” She asked gesturing toward where the car was parked.
I nodded, and just as I started walking, I heard a loud male voice.
I turned to look at the couple, arguing on the other side of the street.
Not an argument…rather it was just the guy shouting at the crying girl.
My expression darkened as I remembered something.
We soon sat down in the car.
The outside scenery began to shift.
After thinking for a bit, I told her, “Suzune-san, I want to apologize for what I said that day.”
I didn’t need to remind her what day I was talking about. She surely hasn’t forgotten…the day when the man she regarded as a dog, shouted at her; made her cry.
I glanced at her and found the girl looking out of the window.
I waited and waited before she finally said, “Let’s talk about it after lunch.”
Her heavy voice made me realize that she still carried the emotions I made her feel that day.
…did I just ruin the date?
*******
A/N:- Ah, yeah. You did. Now be a good guy and hug her.
