Is it okay for a loner like me to have a yandere? - Chapter 1- Another heartbreak
“You are being nervous for nothing, Yuki-chan,” I told the girl fidgeting beside me.
I, Fujiwara Akito, was currently taking my new friend and neighbor, Shimazu Yuki to the school.
She shifted from Tokyo recently and started living in the house beside ours.
I went to help her family a few times. Mum made food for them from time to time, and slowly, our family started to grow closer.
In no time, Yuki-chan and I became friends, and we have been hanging out every single day.
After a very long time, I made a friend.
It felt…good.
“You don’t understand Aki-kun….this is my first day at school, joining mid-session. I don’t know how I will blend.” She seemed more nervous than a nerdy kid who had been bullied all his life.
Yeah, that was me.
I assured her, “You are beautiful and kind. They will like you.” I wasn’t lying to her. Short brown hair and big beautiful eyes gave her a delicate charm, making people glance at her twice. And coupled with her soft and docile personality, she would be famous amongst boys in no time.
…that thought made my heart ache. Guh!
“You really think I-I am beautiful?” She stuttered, and that’s when I noticed she had a deep blush on her cheeks.
God, she looks beautiful.
I nodded, “Yes, I am sure everything will be fine.” I wanted to hold her hand but held back. We weren’t that close…yet.
I liked her, and I feel…she also has some feelings for me. But since it’s like ten days since we met, we were taking things steadily.
Now…my biggest fear was the school.
I have lost one close person here before…and now, I am horrified to think that Yuki-chan too…would leave me.
‘What am I even thinking…being gloomy all of a sudden.’ Hyping myself up, we walked inside the school.
People started glancing our way…more like at Yuki-chan.
We exchanged shoes and after visiting the teacher once, she said I could take Yuki-chan to the class and introduce her to the others.
I didn’t mind. Although I was practically a loner in the class, they wouldn’t outright ignore me…right?
“Ready?” I asked as I rested my hand on the door handle.
She pumped her fist and gave a stiff nod.
Cute.
*Slide*
Opening the door, I gathered the attention of a few, who would have usually ignored me, but when their gaze landed on the girl beside me, they froze.
“Woah…”
“Adorable…”
“Is she the new student?! Damn!”
Many started commenting and whistling.
She glanced at me, and I gave an assuring look.
I sat down on my seat and was about to offer her the seat next to me when suddenly someone came up to us.
“Hi, I am Akiyama Rina.” It was one of the girls from the cheerleading group—someone who belongs to Tier 1 of the class.
Yuki took another glance at me before introducing herself, “I am Shimazu Yuki. Nice to make your acquaintance.”
Nice, Yuki-chan. You’ve got this.
“Oh, Yuki-chan~nice name.” Another girl jumped in, a gyaru this time.
Holding her lollipop, she asked, “What do you like, Yuki-chan? Oh, by the way, I am Tachibana Yui.”
She nodded and responded, in a slightly less stiff tone, “I like listening to songs and watching fashion shows.”
Surely, she couldn’t have said that she was a big gamer and loved anime, too. People would have creeped out just as they did when I proudly announced that on the first day.
“What kind of songs? Did you listen to RzA’s new one?”
Yuki’s eyes lit up, “The true beauty?”
Tachibana-san exclaimed, “Yes! You saw the new dress she wore…” And with that, Yuki-chan was pulled into the group, conversing with them.
I glanced back, and for a moment, my eyes met hers…
My childhood friend—Yamamoto Haruka.
She was sitting on the desk with another student behind her, his arms around her waist as she listened to Yuki with a soft smile.
Haruka…was once my best friend.
But…after joining high school, she started ignoring me. I don’t know…maybe because of how nerdy I look or what I said during the introduction.
Not only did she start ignoring me, but one day, she even said that we should stop being friends at school.
Naturally, I had to agree…after all, forcing someone to be your friend…could never be right.
The only thing I did to save my tattered heart was that I didn’t talk to her even outside the school…and unsurprisingly, she didn’t mind…or like, didn’t notice.
And the most heart-shattering part, the guy she started dating, was our common friend and my middle school deskmate…Ichihara Takuya.
I sighed…not wanting to go through those memories again.
I glanced at Yuki-chan and found her looking back at me.
Oh…she wanted to come back here.
I was about to get and call her out when suddenly the teacher stepped in and said, “Everyone, be seated.”
I looked at Yuki-chan, my eyes containing urgency.
She also seemed to be wanting to sit beside me but Tachibana-san pulled her and said, “Where are you going in the front? That’s a boring place. Sit with us.” She insisted and even pulled Yuki-chan on the desk between herself and Takuya.
Takuya gave a friendly smile to her and Yuki-chan just nodded before looking back at me.
I bit my lip…don’t know what to do now.
She seemed to be restless, too…but there was nothing I could do now without causing a scene here.
So I just assuringly smiled at her and nodded in understanding.
Turning my head back to the board, I exhaled audibly.
I hope…this also doesn’t turn out to be the same way as Haruka.

A/N:- A very late night thought, an ache in the chest brought the story. I just remembered things and jotted them on the paper. Hope you enjoy it.
