Chapter 06: Daily Harassment
Once again, a massive explosion echoed through the forest that used to be packed with dangerous magical beasts.
Why “used to”?
Because ever since the explosions started occurring regularly a few days ago, the beasts had fled in terror.
And honestly, who could blame them?
Thunderous blasts that shook the air.
Blinding flashes of light.
Shockwaves powerful enough to rip fully rooted giant trees straight out of the ground.
No creature in its right mind would stay in a place like that.
The one responsible for all of it—
Was Taiga’s Self-Destruct.
In terms of raw power, it ranked among the strongest Unique Skills.
Each detonation transformed more of the forest into a field of craters, flattening everything in sight.
“…Phew.”
“…He revived.”
“This explosion… judging by the crater, that was pretty decent, right?”
“Taiga, sorry to interrupt your explosion review, but I need to curse you again. Come here.”
“Ah, Miss Leia, thank you!”
Normally, Self-Destruct was a skill that cost the user their life.
Yet Taiga was using it as part of his daily routine.
All thanks to his creative abuse of the Curse of Immortality.
“Alright. I’ve cast ‘Curse of Immortality’ on you again.”
“Uh, yeah. Thanks, that really helps.”
“Still… I can’t believe you came up with this method.”
“What method?”
“Combining the debuff from ‘Curse of Immortality’—which forces you to reincarnate without returning to your patron god—with the downside of ‘Self-Destruct,’ which consumes points just by activating and also kills you.”
“Well, I mean… If it’s just one death and one ‘Self-Destruct,’ that’s barely even harassment, right?”
From the moment he learned about Self-Destruct’s drawbacks, Taiga had been thinking about how to use it to annoy Goddess Urza.
One death.
One explosion.
That alone would probably earn nothing more than a bored sigh from her.
And if he died while openly opposing his patron goddess, there was no way she would bother reviving him.
But with Curse of Immortality, he didn’t need her.
He could forcibly reincarnate again and again—
And keep blowing himself up.
“Though it’s kind of annoying that the curse itself gets removed when my stats reset after death…”
“Normally, you’d be happy about that. But I can just cast it again.”
“That really helps. Especially since you even spent precious points to get the ‘Curse Master’ class.”
“…Actually, we’re the ones who should be grateful. Because the curse counts as an offensive action, the points from your ‘defeats’ are being credited to Lady Sheila. That’s how I was able to obtain ‘Curse Master’ in the first place.”
It was an unexpected bonus, but apparently when a Hero is defeated, the “defeat points” go to the patron god of whoever dealt the most effective damage right before death.
And since Curse of Immortality counts as an offensive action—
Every time Taiga used Self-Destruct, the points ended up going to Sheila.
The points they accumulated that way allowed Leia to obtain a new skill: Curse Master.
With that skill, she could cast various curses—including Curse of Immortality—by consuming her own magic power.
At first, the process was simple.
Taiga would blow himself up.
He would return to Sheila.
She would cast Curse of Immortality again.
Repeat.
But that method had a serious flaw—
If Taiga ever died without the curse active, it would be game over.
So for safety, they adjusted their strategy.
Leia was granted Curse Master, and now the moment Taiga revived through Curse of Immortality, she immediately cast it on him again.
That became their standard routine.
And honestly—
Taiga’s explosion pace far exceeded what Sheila and Leia had expected.
From a point-efficiency perspective, giving Leia Curse Master turned out to be far cheaper than constantly spending points to reapply the curse the old way.
“I’m glad. I felt bad making you spend points every single time just to reapply the curse.”
“…Still, I can’t always be there to cast it instantly. Ideally, you’d want a Unique Skill like ‘Eternal Curse,’ which upgrades ‘Curse of Immortality’… or something like ‘Weak Reincarnation’—a skill that lets you carry over debuffs and curses even after death.”
For now, they were safe.
The forest was practically empty after all the magical beasts fled.
But at the rate Taiga was blowing himself up, it wouldn’t be long before Goddess Urza noticed something unusual.
And once she did, she would likely send someone to retrieve—or eliminate—him.
So Taiga needed a safety plan.
One key measure was ensuring that Curse of Immortality wouldn’t disappear when his stats reset upon death.
“Yeah… considering the points spent on reviving me and activating ‘Self-Destruct,’ it’s like I’ve already been defeated the equivalent of a hundred Heroes. Even that woman has to notice eventually, right?”
“Yeah. It’s already about that much.”
“Still, even if it’s technically a debuff, Unique Skills are expensive, right? …Well, if it’s something like ‘Weak Reincarnation,’ maybe if I double my current explosion count, I could afford it?”
“Double… your current pace?”
“Uh, yeah?”
“…Um. My magic power is running a little low today. Let’s take a break.”
“Oh! Really? Sorry, I should’ve thought about that.”
“It’s fine.”
Taiga had just casually suggested blowing himself up around fifty more times.
Even Leia, a battle-hardened Hero, felt concerned.
So she used her “low mana” as an excuse to force him to rest.
TLN: Sorry but this is kinda boring, I won’t be continuing it anymore. Thanks for reading.
