Chapter 98: Hug Commotion Part 2 (Tsuburi’s Perspective)
“By the way, may I give you a hug?”
Suddenly, those words came from my boss, Kusuri Usagita. I couldn’t help but think, “What is this guy saying?” while also feeling a conflicted sense of inevitability.
“Hm? Sure, go ahead.”
Hisui-san, without a hint of concern, got up from the bed and sat on the edge, spreading his arms wide open, ready to accept the hug. The one who said it, my boss, was stunned and obviously the most shocked.
Hachikuma-san, observing this, nodded as if to say, “Of course, that’s how it would turn out.”
I was a bit surprised, but if that’s the case, I’d want to hug tightly every time we meet.
Yesterday’s hug and kiss were so shocking that my whole body felt delighted. Even though it was just a hug, my skin was glowing more than any makeup could achieve when I woke up this morning.
“Uh, well then…”
With trembling hands, Kusuri Usagita slowly closed the distance, shuffling his feet. It was frustratingly slow, reminding me of my own hesitation yesterday. Watching this, I turned red with empathic embarrassment, as if I was watching a reenactment of my own experience.
“Just waiting here isn’t helping, right?”
With a light comment, Hisui-san got off the bed and closed the remaining distance gracefully with a few steps.
“Alright, here’s a big hug.”
The final moment was anticlimactic. Kusuri Usagita, looking like a scarecrow with his body pulled back in surprise, was hugged tightly.
“Now, a little closer.”
Hisui-san pulled Kusuri Usagita’s retreating waist, bringing their bodies into full contact.
Oh, how nice…
I watched, enchanted.
Knock, knock.
“Excuse me, it’s time. Are you feeling unwell…?”
With a knock and hardly any pause, someone opened the door and spoke those words.
The world froze.
“Alright, let’s keep this quiet.”
Hisui-san hugged everyone who witnessed the scene, seemingly enjoying himself.
I don’t think this is silencing anyone. The colleagues who were now glowing and light on their feet were certainly going to be questioned.
He seems to fully understand and utilize his own charm, turning into a dangerously enchanting person. Is this okay?
By the way, I also got a hug. I couldn’t miss this opportunity.
Later, an odd event was organized to comfort the workers and patients, where they could interact with Hisui-san. Clearly, the attempts at keeping things quiet failed completely.
However, Hisui-san seemed to enjoy it, so it wasn’t a problem. Though, involving palliative care was a bit much.
Later still, a serious study was published claiming that hugging boys could extend health and longevity. The evidence showed that even elderly women, if in front of a man, would unconsciously gather more energy and appear healthier.
But finding boys willing to participate became a problem.
Well, it’s a sad but funny story.
“Not enough hands for this,” he said with a sad smile.

Chapter 99: At that Time, Hakuto and the Order (Hakuto’s Perspective)
“Here, this is your assignment. Check it.”
I received the assignment document from my superior in the command room and opened it without much thought.
It was about guarding Umino Hisui, a man found in Niigata. Since Hachikuma is already there as a guard, I guess we’ll be joining forces.
Guards and Self-Defense Force members have similar roles, so personnel can be easily exchanged.
“Directly heading to Niigata? You can use the base’s Osprey.”
Such kind words followed.
“Oh? That’s rare.”
Traditionally, personnel transport is done by truck, even if it means crossing Japan from end to end in the truck bed.
“Bring your wives too.”
“They’re really going all out.”
“They only respond to you. Without you, they’re useless.”
“Exactly.”
A smile broke out on my face. In the northern territories, especially the four islands and Sakhalin, there are only bases. Without a military plane, we can’t go anywhere even on our days off. It’s possible to get by on the base or island, but if you want to really have fun, you have to go to urban areas in Hokkaido.
It’s only natural that we rely on regular personnel transport and supply trips. It’s impossible for a public servant on a low salary to own a personal ship or helicopter, and the sea routes are blocked by drift ice in winter. The northern sea is rough, making air travel the main option.
“To give you a break, I’m arranging for about 50 additional personnel. It’s a real hassle.”
His mouth was smiling, but his eyes weren’t. There was even a vein popping on his forehead.
“You got more than you started with.”
I’m bringing back about 20 people, so it’s a win numbers-wise.
“Shut up! Losing the main leaders and their elite replacements for 50 rookies is not a fair trade!”
“Just be glad you’re getting replacements.”
His final angry shout was ignored as I returned with sarcasm.
“Take good care of them, alright?”
“Sure, I’ll raise them better than your wives.”
Seeing him return to his usual demeanor, I smiled.
“So, where’s the order from?”
“It’s from General Staff Konoha, no, directly from Prime Minister Isagi.”
“From the top?”
Our family holds many key positions, but due to political power struggles, internal trust is shaky.
The arrival of that idiot was a prime example, not even worth joking about.
“To protect and guard that man, 20 people will be assigned. If that’s not enough, get more from the local base.”
“That’s a bit much…”
“Since Kohaku-sama’s passing, men are rare. Even for an S-rank, one guard isn’t enough.”
Officially, the male-to-female ratio is 1:100, but it feels more like 1:1000 or even 1:10000. Men are scarce and only found in certain places.
In this world where Wolbachia has spread globally, the problem is the same everywhere.
“Surpassing Grandpa, no wonder countries are desperate.”
Nowadays, semen is vital for population maintenance and is traded between nations. B-rank and above are heavily guarded. Grandpa Kohaku had a squad guarding him constantly. As a kid, I thought the tough women around him were just neighbors or stepmothers.
When I was assigned to the training corps, I was surprised to see familiar faces everywhere.
Grandpa Kohaku laughed off the government’s requests for protection and greeted guests in the lobby with a smile. He was kind and sincere, and no one spoke ill of him.
As a child, I admired him and wanted to be kind and sincere like him. I ended up with many wives but don’t regret it.
“If they used the subsidy application, we could have protected him in the special zone under the guise of social welfare.”
That would have been cheaper, but…
“Our great-grandmother would never allow it.”
She may look young, but she’s old-fashioned. She believes the happiness of having men should be shared with the entire family and guests, even if it means earning extra money. She wouldn’t leave the place she shared with Grandpa Kohaku or let go of the men she has.
Except for that idiot. He’s worthless alive.
“We’ll just have to endure. If Great-grandma is willing to embrace him, we won’t lose out.”
I laughed, genuinely looking forward to meeting him.
“When that time comes, share some with us?”
Though we are superior and subordinate, we know each other well. Outside missions, in a female-dominated society, hiding lust is pointless, so we’re open about it.
“If I can’t move, come as a guest.”
Right now, the guard is like a unique amusement park mascot. Without him, it’s a problem.
“Think I can?”
“Come forcibly if needed. We’re just cogs; someone else can take over.”
A military without a backup plan for a fallen commander is a joke. We’re supposed to keep running even if the deputy commander like me disappears.
Even if this was a punitive transfer, it’s still a misstep.
“If you take out the deputy and then the commander, yeah.”
We both smiled wryly.
“This is an order~♪”
I joked.
“Oh, shut up. Just go already.”
He gestured for me to leave, and I gratefully walked to the door.
Before leaving, I turned back, stood straight, and faced him.
“I humbly accept the assignment!”
I saluted.
“Good luck!”
He returned the salute.
“Why not start like that?”
Our tension broke instantly, and he laughed wryly.
“Small talk is the main event.”
I laughed back without malice. Time to gather Ojiro, my subordinates, and my wives and pack up.
There’s no room in the guest room, so it’s either the employee quarters or an empty house nearby. Tsubame is a town hall employee, so I’ll talk to her.
If things are arranged, it’ll be easier, but moving as the Self-Defense Force can be annoying. I’ll have to act individually to some extent.
Later, it was natural that the hotel staff, guests, guards, and neighbors had many muscular people.
~Postscript
Konoha (Konoha Owl): A symbol of wisdom, an intellectual elder with glasses, working behind the scenes.
Isagi (Black-crowned Night Heron): Originally a noble, but now almost gone after the breakup of financial cliques. Officially the prime minister. He can’t stand up to Yata, making his position within the family ambiguous. He’s somewhat respected for his role in allowing women to fight back against abusive men, a rare historical precedent.
