I held my breath as I watched the scene unfold.

This hot spring was known as Iwato no Yu, a cave bath. The water had a mild, neutral quality that was said to promote fertility and help regulate the autonomic nervous system. But I figured those claims were just typical exaggerations associated with hot springs, so I took them with a grain of salt.

It was already dark outside, and the dim lighting of the bath created a unique atmosphere. When my eyes adjusted, I looked up at the sky. While soaking in the bath, I could see the moon and stars. It was quite a lovely setting.

“Wow…”

The water wasn’t too hot or too cold, just pleasantly lukewarm. Being able to take a long soak like this was delightful in its own way.

“Oh, look! It’s a Starlink satellite train. How rare.”

I couldn’t help but speak out loud when I spotted something unusual in the starry sky.

Above me, a row of evenly spaced satellites flew in a train formation.

Occasionally, some of them exploded due to accidents, causing Kessler syndrome and minor disruptions, but thanks to RAID-style backups, these incidents didn’t cause major problems noticeable to the general public.

As a result, hundreds of thousands of artificial satellites were constantly orbiting above, but in the city, the light pollution made them difficult to see.

But here, in a peaceful rural retreat far from the city, I could enjoy the view of the starry sky while soaking in the hot spring. That was a rare treat.

“Just seeing this makes the trip worth it.”

I murmured to myself. It was a small, happy moment, but it gave me a strange sense of satisfaction.

It wasn’t my main objective, but experiences like this were still nice.

I shifted from a full-body soak to a floating position, letting my head rest on the edge of the bath while I looked up at the starry sky. The buoyancy of the water made even my cumbersome chest feel light, and floating like this was quite enjoyable.

“It feels pretty good.”

I thought mentioning the stars instead of the hot spring might make me seem weird, so I gave a safe response.

“Oh? You’re still alive?”

The water rippled as they moved closer, causing waves to form unexpectedly.

“Of course I’m alive.”

I quickly sank my floating body back into the water, adjusted my posture, and brushed my wet hair back to clear my vision. I responded while pouting slightly.

Being called a drowned corpse was not something I appreciated.

“Well, it’s a bit eerie here, with the lack of people and the dim lighting.”

I guess I couldn’t blame them.

“The water’s pleasantly lukewarm, and the stars are beautiful. I was just floating and enjoying the view.”

“Ah, yes. The stars are indeed lovely.”

The voice responded calmly while looking up at the sky.

I glanced over to see that the newcomers were a mature woman and a small girl. Even in the dim light, it was clear that the woman was beautiful, with a well-proportioned body that had obviously been well taken care of.

The girl beside her had sharp eyes and a flat figure, but her small breasts, the curve of her hips, and the hair growing in various places made it clear that she wasn’t a child. She, too, was quite the beauty.

“But wow, it’s so crowded over there.”

My gaze and words took on a slightly sharp edge, but they didn’t seem to notice. They were in too good of a mood.

She’s the one who did the image analysis from the previous incidents.

Considering that she managed to come here alone, it’s a stretch to call her a shut-in.

When her bangs are down, her eyes are hidden, making her look plain. But when she pulls them back, she’s actually quite beautiful.

The scene of her floating in the dimly lit bath looked a lot like a ghost or a drowned corpse, so it couldn’t be helped that people mistook her for one.
