Chapter 34: Laid-Back Camp

A large modern public bathhouse had been built close to Found One. It wasn’t just a bathhouse; it apparently had saunas, stone baths, and many other facilities for relaxation.

“Whoa, this place is huge!”

“Right? People were talking about it even before it opened, and on weekends, it got so crowded that you couldn’t even get in.”

“I see. Given this size and the variety of amenities, that makes sense.”

“Plus, it’s a weekday, so it’s not crowded. I figured today was our best chance to come.”

Since I had worked up a good sweat at Found One, I appreciated the chance to relax in a spacious bath.

Believe it or not, I’m a huge bath enthusiast.

After finishing the check-in process and paying the fee, the staff handed me a set of indoor loungewear. It seemed like I’d be able to unwind in the relaxation area even after getting out of the bath.

“Gah… No way…”

“What’s wrong?”

“I asked if we could use a private family bath, but they said students aren’t allowed there…”

“Of course not. That’s obvious.”

It made perfect sense. A young man and woman, alone and naked in a locked room? There was only one thing that would happen. We’d be going at it within five seconds of stepping inside.

“Alright, see you later. Once I’m out of the bath, I’ll be reading manga in the tatami relaxation area.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

Riria cheerfully stepped through the curtain into the women’s bath. Guess I’d head to the men’s bath too.

“…I can’t quite put my finger on it, but something about the atmosphere here feels different from the men’s baths in my original world.”

As I undressed in the changing room, I couldn’t shake a vague sense of uneasiness. I couldn’t quite put it into words, which was frustrating, but compared to the original world, this place felt… tamer, somehow. Once I stepped into the bath, stark naked, I started to understand what was off.

“Oh, I get it now. There aren’t any middle-aged guys lying around everywhere, or old dudes just sitting in the changing room, cooling off in the nude.”

That was a common sight in the original world.  Girls probably wouldn’t get it (though, actually, are any girls even reading this?), but men’s baths tended to be pretty lawless—everyone just did whatever they wanted. But in a world where gender norms were reversed, maybe the women’s bath was the one with that kind of chaotic energy now. The thought of middle-aged ladies sprawled out all over the place was kind of funny.

“Anyway, let’s soak in the bath… Huh? Isn’t there kind of a crazy variety of tubs here? They’ve got herbal baths, cypress baths, even a milk bath?”

So the men in this world were actually pretty into bathing. I could respect that. Might as well take full advantage of it.

After thoroughly washing myself, I tried out every single bath in the facility, fully satisfying my love for bathing. When I arrived at the relaxation area, I found Riria sprawled out on the tatami, reading manga in her loungewear. She had chosen a baseball manga called Ace of Hearts today.

So, you’re done with basketball now?

“Welcome back! You sure took your time in there.”

“There were way more bath options than I expected, so I ended up enjoying myself. I think I tried about ten different ones.”

“Wow, the men’s bath is that fancy?”

“Huh? The women’s bath doesn’t have that many?”

“There are options, but probably not as many as the men’s bath.”

“O-oh… I see…”

“But in exchange, the sauna was really nice. It’s the latest trend, after all. …Though, it was super crowded, and people were lying all over the place, enjoying the fresh air outside.”

It was exactly as I had imagined. I could only let out a wry smile in return. In the original world, saunas had become trendy among young men. So in this gender-reversed world, it made sense that young women would be the ones flocking to them. That meant the women’s bath was filled with young women lying around, cooling off…

What is it like? I’m kinda curious.

The warmth from the bath, the pleasant fatigue, the soothing scent of tatami… It didn’t take long before I drifted off to sleep.

At some point, I woke up. I was about seventy percent awake, thirty percent still asleep—caught in that hazy state where the lingering drowsiness made me want to sleep just five more minutes. As I rolled over, ready to sink back into sleep, I suddenly noticed Riria’s face right in front of me.

She looked a little worried… But also kind of embarrassed.

“…Mmh? What’s up? Why the weird face?”

“A-ah… Hirakawa-kun… Umm… This is kind of hard to say, but…”

“What? Why are you acting so serious all of a sudden?”

I tried to sit up, but Riria quickly stopped me with all her strength.

“Wait, wait! You shouldn’t get up right now!”

“Huh? Why not? What’s wrong with me?”

“What’s wrong is… Just look.”

Riria averted her gaze in embarrassment and glanced down at my lower body.
