ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“What did you say…!?”
At the sudden report that had been brought to her, Anessa’s eyes changed color. Just moments earlier, she had been basking in the afterglow of sex, her face relaxed and feminine.
“Three women suddenly stormed into the hideout grounds! Those bastards… Based on what we can tell, they’re most likely from the Knight Academy!”
“The Knight Academy…!? Those village scum called in reinforcements…!?”
“The guards have already been taken down, and they’ll be here any moment now…!”
“This is bad… We’ve been fucked senseless and we’re completely exhausted. There’s no way we’ve got the stamina left to fight head-on.”
After saying that, Anessa continued.
“And to think they chose the exact moment when our guard was down…! It’s like our every move was leaked to them.”
“Looks like it worked out nicely.”
I smiled as I looked at the flustered bandits.
“…Don’t tell me… You were the one who leaked the information…!?”
“Yeah. I was reporting the situation at the hideout using a compact communicator. I waited until you finished your fun and were all beaten and battered before having them move in.”
“That’s impossible!”
One of the bandits who had rushed in with the report shouted angrily.
“When you arrived at the hideout, I personally took responsibility for thoroughly searching your entire body! There was no place you could’ve hidden a communicator!”
“That’s true. There was nowhere to hide it… On the outside of my body, that is. But what about the inside?”
“What?”
“The human body is surprisingly spacious. If you really want to hide something, you can.”
I said that while holding up the communicator.
“Don’t tell me… You shoved it up your ass!?”
“No way! Even if it’s compact, it’s still a communicator! Just how much would you have to train your asshole to be able to insert something like that!?”
The bandits wore expressions of sheer horror. I had concealed the communicator inside my body when I infiltrated as a prisoner. After being thrown into the cell, I retrieved it. I used it to relay the information I got from the prisoners to Sophia and the others. The plan had been to contact them once an opening for a surprise attack was created.
In other words, the plan worked perfectly.
“Bring the prisoners here! Use them as shields and get through this!”
Anessa barked orders at her subordinates. Just as the bandits were about to rush outside…
“I can’t let you through.”
I stepped in front of the door.
“Are you planning to get in our way?”
“Yeah.”
“A man can’t beat a woman. That’s a law of this world even idiots know. And you’re unarmed, on top of that. What exactly do you think you can do?”
“Want to find out?”
“You lot! Take him out!”
She gave the order. The bandits who could still move each grabbed their weapons and lunged at me.
“Wind Blast!”
I condensed the mana inside my body into my palm and released a wind spell. A violent gust erupted without warning. The bandits were blown effortlessly backward.
“Gyaaaaaahhh!”
They slammed into the hideout walls and collapsed onto the floor.
“Wha—!? This man used magic…!?”
“And that was advanced magic, too!?”
Ignoring the stunned bandits, I picked up a sword from among the weapons they had dropped and spoke with a fearless grin.
“Alright. Who’s next?”
“…!”
The bandits recoiled, unable to step forward.
“Move aside. I’ll handle this.”
Anessa, who had been standing in the back, stepped forward. She held a crescent-shaped sword in both hands.
“Now that I think about it, I heard a rumor from the grapevine. This year, for the first time since the Knight Academy was founded, a male freshman enrolled.”
“I’m honored you’ve heard of me.”
“So it really was you. I’ve never seen a man this stimulating before.”
Anessa grinned.
“I’m pretty good with wind magic myself. Back when I was enrolled at the Knight Academy, they said no one could match me when it came to wind magic.”
She wrapped both swords in wind. Mana surged up from her entire body. So this woman used to be a Knight Academy student.
“Boss! Finish him off!”
“Show him who’s better!”
The bandits cheered her on. I spoke, unfazed.
“You’re right. When it comes to wind magic, you’re better than me.”
“Hah! Getting scared before we even start!?”
Anessa charged at me with a crazed smile, blades raised. I readied my sword to meet her attack.
“But you’re mistaken,” I said. “Wind magic is actually my weakest.”
The next instant… I altered the nature of the mana coating my blade.
“What—!? Fire magic!?”
Anessa’s eyes went wide in shock. Our mana-infused swords collided.
“Guh…!”
After a brief silence..
Crack.
Both of Anessa’s swords shattered.
“That’s impossible…! Mastering even a single magical attribute is incredibly difficult. I’ve never seen anyone who could wield multiple attributes with this much power…”
She muttered that, then asked fearfully,
“Just who… What are you…!?”
“Who knows,” I replied. “It’s not something you need to know.”
“Kah…!”
Struck down, Anessa spat blood and dropped to her knees. She tried to stand using the broken sword as a cane, but her body wouldn’t cooperate. The fight was completely decided. That was when..
The door burst open, and a flood of footsteps poured in from outside.
“Kreto!”
“Kreto-san!”
It was Sophia and the others. Sophia, Berga, and Frau—clad in their Knight Academy uniforms—were all there, not a single one missing.
“Sorry we’re late,” Berga said.
“What about the prisoners?” I asked.
“They’ve already been secured. Everyone is safe.”
“I see. That’s good.”
When I said that…
“To think you subdued them all by yourself…” Sophia said. “Though the method you used was the worst…”
“Hey now, despite saying that, Sophia here was worried sick the whole time. Kept thinking, ‘What if something happens to Kreto?’”
Berga added with a grin.
“I-It’s not like that…”
In any case, the incident was resolved….Or so it seemed.
“WOOOOOOOO…!”
A roar echoed from outside. I sensed something unnatural.
“What was that just now?”
“I don’t know,” Frau said.
That wasn’t human. It was a monster. And whatever it was, it felt far from ordinary. Sophia’s expression hardened as she spoke.
“…I have a bad feeling about this. Let’s return to the village immediately.”
