ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
We left the tavern and moved to the indoor training grounds in the territory. It was a place normally used by the town’s guards for training, and even after sunset, the lights allowed practice to continue. Cassandra procured two wooden swords and tossed one to me. We faced each other at a distance. Spectating female knights had gathered around. Still tipsy, they cheered noisily.
“Go easy on him, okay? With the captain’s monstrous strength, you could kill someone even with a wooden sword.”
“It’d be bad to damage the goods before he becomes my live-in husband.”
Guffaws of foolish laughter echoed. I was completely underestimated. They probably saw me as little more than playing with a baby.
“Um, wouldn’t it be better to do this another day?”
I said.
“Why?”
“If you’re drunk, you might not be able to fight seriously. And if I lose, I don’t want excuses afterward.”
“Kahkahkah! You’ve got some nerve.”
Cassandra laughed with amusement and said to me.
“No problem. I never let alcohol control me. I’m always the one doing the controlling. No matter how drunk I get, it won’t affect my fighting.”
Her words carried absolute confidence. As if embodying that, when she entered a combat stance, an electrifying fighting spirit burst from her entire body like lightning.
“Come on, attack from wherever you like.”
She spread her arms wide, taking an inviting posture. It looked full of openings at first glance, but in reality, there were none at all. I couldn’t move. It felt like the soles of my shoes were sewn to the ground. Even without crossing swords, just facing her made it clear. She was overwhelmingly strong and she was on a level incomparable to me.
So this is the kingdom’s strongest knight.
Facing an overwhelming powerhouse for the first time, my entire body shrank in fear.
“Scared? Your body’s shaking.”
Cassandra smiled softly as she noticed the tremble in my readied wooden sword.
“But there’s no need to be ashamed. That’s proof you’re correctly recognizing the gap in strength. Truly weak people can’t even feel fear. In that regard, you’ve got potential. Though, challenging a superior after recognizing the gap requires considerable courage.”
As Cassandra said, my instincts screamed to run. But I couldn’t back down. If I couldn’t show her my strength, the path to knighthood wouldn’t open. In that case…I’d have to give this fight everything.
“Boost!”
I opened my mana circuits and applied physical enhancement. Power surged through my body. Oohs of admiration rose from the female knights.
“That guy can use body enhancement magic?”
“Not bad for a man.”
Clenching my molars tightly, I shook off the fear and stepped forward.
“Haaaaah!”
Roaring, I swung down the wooden sword from overhead with full force. This was my full-powered strike I had honed over years. Cassandra blocked it effortlessly with her wooden sword.
“Ho. A solid strike with good power.”
“Not yet!”
I immediately readied again and unleashed the next blow. I hammered in strikes relentlessly. Hammered. Hammered. Pouring in all the swordsmanship I’d cultivated, everything in my life.
“Kuahaha! Good! More! Come at me harder! Show me your raw self!”
The alcohol had completely left Cassandra’s face, replaced by a different kind of exhilaration. Her eyes gleamed like a belligerent beast. That pressure sent shivers down my spine.
“Uoooooh!”
As if forgetting fear, I attacked in a furious onslaught. No matter how many strikes I landed, she didn’t budge. My attack kept getting blocked by a thick defensive wall. Each time, I was reminded of the vast distance between us.
“Impressive. But playtime’s over.”
Cassandra declared as if she’d already assessed everything about me. Facing her directly, I felt it firsthand. As expected, the current me was nowhere near enough. But I couldn’t end it like this. At the very least, I wanted to wipe that composed expression off her face once.
The instant Cassandra shifted to offense, I decided to unleash my hidden trump card. I opened my mana circuits and refined mana within my body. I applied wind-attribute magic to my entire body. Then, I moved.
I closed the distance at a speed incomparable to my physical ability. It was a movement that shouldn’t have been possible. It was a magic that a man—who could only use daily life magic at best—shouldn’t be able to wield. This was my power, the power that had been strengthened through my repeated unions with the sister.
“What!?”
For the first time, Cassandra’s expression changed. Her composed look vanished, cracks of shock appearing on her smiling mask.
Take this!
I enveloped the wooden sword in the wind magic cloaking my body.
“Wind Strike!”
A lightning-fast thrust clad in sharp wind that could slice through anything. My full-powered sword technique reached her faster than her attack…. Or it should have.
“Kahahaha!!”
In an instant, Cassandra cloaked her body in mana and reflexively swung her wooden sword powerfully. That razor-sharp strike came after mine. Even so, it easily surpassed the sword technique I had unleashed and struck my side squarely at its core.
“Guhah…!?”
Blown away like a skipped stone, my back slammed into the training ground wall. A shock like every bone in my body breaking assaulted me. Something hot welled up in my chest, and I spat it out.
“Whoa. Did she kill him?”
“Captain, that’s brutal~”
The wary female knights soon raised voices of astonishment when they saw me use the wooden sword as a cane to stand.
“Ooh, he’s alive.”
“Stubborn~ Tough guy.”
“That settles it.”
Cassandra said that and lowered her wooden sword.
“But to think I’d get serious against a man. You surprised me. By the way, what was that wind magic sword technique? It far exceeded a man’s mana capacity.”
“…None of your business.”
“Kuahaha! Cheeky brat! But I don’t hate it.”
Cassandra laughed loudly. But it wasn’t the tone of mockery. She somehow sounded pleased.
“You pass the test. As promised, I’ll put in a word at the knight academy.”
“Really?”
“I never go back on my word. I swear on my life.”
Cassandra said that and told one of the spectating female knights,
“Hey, Sylphie. I’m leaving the captain’s duties to you as vice-captain.”
“…………Huh?”
“I’ll stay in this territory for a while and live with this kid. I’ll thoroughly train him to become a knight.”
“”Huh?””
Both I and the vice-captain called Sylphie gaped in unison.
“I like this kid. He might become the first male knight. I want to see if he’ll become a gem or stay a pebble.”
“…What about the mission?”
“You lot can handle it somehow.”
Cassandra dismissed it casually.
“…I’ll be the one getting scolded by Her Majesty or the royal family, though.”
“I’ll treat you to dinner next time.”
The vice-captain female knight looked dissatisfied but sighed and muttered.
“…Well, this is you we’re talking about. No matter what I say, you won’t listen.”
She sighed as if she had accepted her fate. It seemed like this had happened many times before. Her reaction looked like someone used to being dragged around by Cassandra.
“That’s how it is. Do your best, acting captain.”
Cassandra cheerfully laughed and slapped the vice-captain’s back. Then she turned to me and said.
“So that’s the deal. That’s fine with you, right?”
That declaration was too sudden. I was to live and train under the kingdom’s strongest knight captain, but… If it brought me closer to knighthood, it was an opportunity I could only dream of.
“…Please take care of me.”
“Good answer.”
Cassandra grinned.
“Plenty of training during the day, plenty of sex at night. As knight captain, I’ll raise you into a proper man.”
And so, I became the disciple of the kingdom’s strongest knight. Thus, my days of carnal desire began.
