I'm Taking Revenge Because My Beloved Childhood Friend, Who is The Most Beautiful Girl in Our Grade, was Stolen by My Best Friend! - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
“Good morning, Yuto-kun.”
I take my seat as I greet him.
Yuto-kun seems a little weird today, he doesn’t return my greeting like he usually does.
He looks down and his eyes looks like it is filled with despair, to be precise his eyes looks lifeless.
Perhaps he didn’t get enough sleep last night, he has heavy bags under his eyes.
I wonder if something happened?
“Yozora-san…”
“Hmm? What’s wrong, Yuto-kun?”
I ask him so in my usual tone.
I don’t want to ask and interfere with his problems, so I just asked Yuto-kun casually.
“…ah, it’s nothing.”
Yuto-kun looks down once again.
As I thought, it looks like he is going through something really awful—
It’s almost looks like he is hurting.
I’m sure Yuto-kun is not telling me something.
I’m sure about it.
Just like that, the morning class started.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is now lunch break.
While looking at Yuto-kun, I realized something.
It seems like he is talking less with Rei-san and Shogo than usual today.
Even when Yuto-kun talks to then, it’s as if he is forcing a smile in front of them. It’s as if he is wearing a mask in front of them.
So, I decided to ask Yuto about it.
“Yuto-kun, did something bad happened?”
Of course, I know it’s better to not ask about it.
But I just can’t hold myself back from asking so.
Yuto-kun looks at me with his dead eyes.
“Hmm? Why do you think so? I’m fine.”
Yuto-kun says so in a somewhat dark tone.
I knew it.
He must be hiding something.
But if Yuto-kun doesn’t want to talk about it, I shouldn’t ask him any further.
“Is that so…okay then…I’m sorry for asking so…”
I should’ve waited a little longer before asking.
“Yeah, it’s fine…from now on, I might have to say ‘I’m sorry’ for a lot of things as well…”
Yuto-kun said so meaningfully.
Of course, I don’t understand what he is talking about—
I don’t understand what he is trying to say—
I wonder why does he have to say ‘sorry’ about a lot of things—
Did he do something wrong—
Perhaps noticing my puzzled expression, Yuto turns his attention to me and says,
“Ah, please don’t worry about it. Just forget about what I just said.”
Unlike earlier, Yuto-kun’s tone is bright and gentle like usual.
“Okay then.”
I nod in response.
I really like the warmth in Yuto-kun’s voice. I don’t know why, but is voice is really soothing.
Ah…maybe I’m just overthinking things after all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, Yuto-kun is back to his usual self. He was like a completely different person yesterday.
“Good morning, Yozora-san.”
Yuto-kun greets me with a gentle smile on his face.
“Good morning, Yuto-kun.”
I return his greeting with a smile as well.
Since Yuto-kun went to school with Rei-san today, it is unlikely that they are having a fight.
As I’m sitting at my desk, I somewhat feel a gaze towards me.
Hmm? It feels like Yuto-kun has been staring at me the whole time…
“What’s the matter with you!? You’ve been staring at me since you got into the classroom!”
I said so, turning to Yuto-kun.
I don’t know why, but for some reason I’m too embarrassed to see Yuto-kun right in his eyes.
“Ah no, it’s nothing.”
He looks away from me as he says so.
Eh? …I wonder if I’m just misunderstanding things.
I cover my blushing face with my hands.
This is really embarrassing…
After that, even when I’m reading or studying in class, I feel his gaze on me the whole time. However, I managed to hold myself back from asking Yuto-kun about it. I’ve learned from my previous mistake.
And then, it happened during the break at the end of the second period—
