I’m Betrayed by My Childhood Friend Who is Also My Lover, but My Other Childhood Friend Healed Me, So I Feel Like I Can Recover and Be Happy ~Is it True That Friendship Between a Man and Woman is Impossible? - Chapter 5
Childhood Friend in The Morning
After yesterday’s interrogation,I must have fallen asleep again last night.
Checking the time, there is still some time left before I have to go to school.
Talking to Airi helped me to sort out my feelings a bit, however I still feel a little depressed.
I’m thinking of not going to school again, but suddenly, my phone rings.
‘I’m going to make breakfast.’
I received a short message saying so.
‘Okay.’
I just replied briefly.
It seems like Airi intends to drag me to school.
I immediately give up the idea of resisting, it would be futile in the end.
I’m not match for Airi after all.
With that, I start preparing myself for school.
Once I finished getting ready, the intercom rings.
I tell her that the door is unlocked and she can come in on her own.
After a short while, Airi who is dressed in her school uniform comes to the living room.
When our eyes meet, she greets me with a bright smile on her face.
“Akito, good morning.”
A beautiful smile in the morning is more effective at waking someone up than splashing their face with cold water.
At that moment, I once again realize that Airi is incredibly beautiful.
Her shining white blonde hair which she inherited from her mother has grown even longer since middle school, reaching below her shoulder.
Her almond-shaped eyes, sometimes giving off a cold impression, and her cherry blossom-coloured lips—she is truly beautiful.
It’s understandable why she got a nickname of the ‘Ice Goddess’ at school.
It’s hard to believe that tomboyish little girl from grade school has grown up into such an incredibly beautiful girl.
“……”
While I’m taken aback by her beauty, Airi calls out to me again.
“Good morning—um, are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. Good morning.”
“I’ll prepare breakfast for us.”
“Sorry, and thank you. I’ll help.”
Since it wouldn’t be fair to leave everything to Airi, I help with the preparations so as not to get in her way.
I can cook too, but there is no doubt that Airi is much better at it than me.
Before Mom went on a long business trip, Airi used to come over often to learn how to cook from Mom.
So, Airi’s cooking is similar to Mom’s.
If course, if I were to mention anything about Mom’s cooking compared to Airi’s, I can only imagine being met with that icy glare.
I can’t help but tremble at the thought.
With such thought in mind, I continue with the breakfast preparation.
“Thank you for cooking the rice.”
“Yeah, you prefer Japanese-style breakfasts in the morning right, Airi?”
“Yeah, I still believe Japanese breakfasts are the best.”
Even though Airi said so, her appearance is so different from a typical Japanese.
It seems like she brought the side dishes in a Tupperware from her home and starts serving them onto plates.
For the miso soup, it can be easily made using pre-made dashi stock.
Then before we knew it, breakfast is ready.
In the end, all I did was make some tea.
““Itadakimasu.””
Airi and I say so together.
After eating the breakfast in silence for a while, Airi suddenly speaks apologetically.
“After I went home from your house yesterday, I met Chitose.”
“I see.”
“Yes, I think she’s reflecting on what happened.”
“…sorry for getting you involved.”
“It’s okay.”
“To be honest, I still can’t process everything.”
“That’s understandable. Well, Chitose needs to resolve things on her own first.”
Airi’s has a really troubled expression on her face when she said so.
Although I truly feel sorry for dragging her into this matter, I also feel grateful for Airi trying to help.
