I’m Betrayed by My Childhood Friend Who is Also My Lover, but My Other Childhood Friend Healed Me, So I Feel Like I Can Recover and Be Happy ~Is it True That Friendship Between a Man and Woman is Impossible? - Chapter 4
Confession
Airi’s POV
“I heard from Akito.”
“So, he told Airi-chan about it after all.”
“At first, he didn’t want to talk about it, but I managed to get it out of him.”
“I see…hey, Airi-chan, I have a favour to ask.”
“Can you wait until I hear your side of the story?”
With that, I confirm if there are any differences between Akito’s side of the story and hers.
“Yes, that’s right.”
“You admit it!?”
“Yeah, because it’s the truth. It’s true that I still like Akkun, but I’m also interested in him.”
I’m surprised at how easily Chitose admitted it.
I guess in a sense, she’s just too honest with herself.
“So, what do you want to do now, Chitose? Just so you know, two-timing is not okay.”
“I don’t want to break up with Akkun!”
“I understand, but then you need to cut ties with that person first.”
“Eh, why? He’s just a friend. It’s not like we’re dating or anything like that.”
Chitose’s reaction is exactly as Akito described.
“If you continue to have a relationship with that person, Akito will suffer, you know? He will be sad about it.”
“But, we’re just friends. It’s normal for friends to kiss each other abroad.”
“Normally, friends don’t kiss on the lips, for example…how would you feel if you see Akito and I kissing like that?”
I feel embarrassed saying so and imagining it myself.
Chitose seems to ponder over my words for a while.
After letting out a thoughtful grunt…
“…I might not like that.”
I feel relieved at her response.
“Good…at least you feel that way.”
I smile bitterly.
It seems like I’m able to somehow convince Chitose.
“Airi-chan, remember the favour I asked earlier? If I cut ties with him, will you come with me to go apologize to Akkun?”
“Sure, as long as everything are resolved properly.”
“Okay. Well, I’ll call him now and see how it goes.”
With that, Chitose picks up her phone and calls that person.
I feel relieved that she wants to fix her relationship with Akito.
Also, it seems like she wants to do it as soon as possible.
It seems like Akito is the more important concern after all.
“—yeah…eh, that’s—but…I understand.”
However, just as I thought everything is settled, it seems like Chitose has been manipulated by that person.
“What should I do? He told me that he has something important to talk about and want to meet me after school tomorrow.”
For some reason, Chitose seems happy about it, forgetting her initial purpose to cut ties with that person.
Surely, the moment I heard her say so, I must’ve had a dumbfounded look on my face.
I sigh in exasperation and calm myself down.
Then, I stare at Chitose with a strong gaze.
“Let me ask you this, what do you actually want, Chitose?”
“Of course, I want to make up with Akkun!”
“In that case, you’ll have to make it clear tomorrow and cut ties with that person.”
“Ugh, it’s difficult—Airi-chan, will you come with me?”
Chitose looks at me with pleading eyes.
Perhaps, if I were a boy, I’d feel inclined to protect her.
However, since we’re both girls I don’t feel that way at all.
More importantly if she can’t cut ties and reject that person on her own, she would likely repeat the same thing in the future.
“Besides, Chitose, I’m sure this is not the first time you received a confession from a boy.”
“Ah, at those times, Akkun was there with me.”
Indeed, that’s true.
Until now, Akito was always there for Chitose.
I can’t help but wonder how that person managed to get Chitose fall in love with him even though she is already dating Akito…
Thinking about that now makes no difference, the most important thing right now is for Chitose to clearly sever ties with that person.
With a sigh, I agree to go with Chitose to meet that person tomorrow.
“I’ll stay close by, but you need to talk to him yourself.”
“Yeah, I understand. Thanks, Airi-chan, I love you!!!”
I’m aware that Chitose’s innocent and cheerfulness are her charming qualities, but at the same time, they also come with vulnerabilities.
I also care about Chitose.
When Chitose is around, Akito looks genuinely happy, so I believe that Akito needs Chitose.
However, if Chitose continues to hurt Akito…
—I won’t forgive her.
