- I’m a Telepath, but It’s Tough Because the Cool Beautiful Girl Next to Me Is Having Pink Thoughts
- Chapter 11 - The Ice Princess in Motion
“Hey, isn’t this insane?”
“Heaven really was right here…”
“It’s shaking like crazy!”
It seems that sexual desire really does make people foolish.
Gathered at the gymnasium window, the men were excitedly making vulgar comments and enjoying themselves.
The girls’ physical education class also includes basketball.
Therefore, there are movements like running and jumping, and naturally, the men are very excited when they see such actions.
“Wow. As expected, Tatsuki looks like a model.”
“How many heads tall is she?”
“I’d kill to have her come at me like that.”
Among them, Tatsuki was definitely the one drawing all their eyes.
She moved gracefully, handling the ball like she was dancing.
Even the sweat that flew off her sparkled like jewels, giving her the aura of a true natural beauty.
“Oh, she made the shot!”
Chihiro muttered quietly.
That’s right, Tatsuki was putting the ball in the basket with agile movements.
The scene shows the girls around her smiling and praising her.
Even during that time, although she was slightly out of breath, Tatsuki’s expression hadn’t changed.
(So she’s good at sports too.)
Regardless of what was inside, since she was reading novels and had social anxiety, I just assumed she wouldn’t be able to exercise on her own, but apparently, that’s not quite the case.
They say the heavens don’t give with both hands… but that’s definitely a lie.
She’s got the looks, brains, and athletic ability all at once.
Maybe the trade-off is the embarrassing pink side of hers.
Well, I guess everything except her face is the result of her hard work.
“Those long, slender legs are killing me.”
“Dude… that’s seriously gross.”
“Nah, I get it. I’d rub up against her in a heartbeat.”
“She’d get even higher marks if she had a bigger chest, though.”
…And with trash like that ogling her, it almost feels like she’s not being rewarded at all.
Then again, maybe she actually likes it?
But no, when that pervert grabbed her on the train, she looked terrified. Still… she didn’t seem to hate being stared at by guys, either?
Well, that’s not my problem…
“Yo, let’s go get water before the line gets long.”
Chihiro’s voice cuts through my thoughts.
He walked straight to the water fountain.
“Yeah.”
Upon saying that, I followed after Chihiro.
“You were staring at Tatsuki, too, weren’t you?”
“What, of course not…”
“It’s written all over your face that you’re lying.”
Chihiro grinned at me.
Damn him…
“What about you then?”
“Me? I don’t really get that stuff. I just thought that she’s good at basketball.”
…It doesn’t seem like a lie. I can tell even without telepathy.
This guy’s really just that simple-minded.
But that’s exactly why we became friends.
He doesn’t overthink things, so it’s easy being around him.
And no, it’s not an insult, by the way.
—
Today, my telepathy’s been behaving unusually well.
Sure, there were a few times I kind of wished I had it, but for the most part, it just gets in the way. So all in all, today’s been a rare and pleasant day without it.
I thought about peeking into Tatsuki’s mind when I noticed a change in her expression, but… if I ran into another outrageous fantasy like the one from last night, it’d be exhausting.
That can wait until the next time my telepathy kicks in.
Today’s class is over, and it is finally after school.
Everyone is starting to leave the classroom for their own purposes.
As for me, I had also started getting ready early and was about to head home.
As usual, Chihiro is at club activities, and I don’t have any other friends.
I have nothing to do if I go back, but I also have nothing to do if I stay.
When I really think about it, it’s kind of a depressing reality. But… It suits me well enough.
Anyway, I was about to head out to the classroom, but there seemed to be a small group of people gathered near the door.
“Hey, wanna stop by Starbucks on the way home?”
“That new drink looks sooo good!”
“Wasn’t it called the Cream Strawberry Chocolate? It looked so cute!”
A group of girls, the central girls in the class, were gathered together.
The topic is the new menu items at a famous coffee shop.
Every time a new one comes out, it’s always talked about, but I don’t honestly understand what’s so good about it.
It’s too sweet, it makes me bloated, and worst of all, it’s way too expensive.
Not to mention that the calories are no joke, yet all the high school girls are enthusiastically praising it.
And yet they say they might get fat, so I really don’t understand them at all.
I don’t think even telepathy could help me understand that one.
“Rio-chan, you’re coming too, right?”
One girl turned the conversation toward another girl.
The one at the center of the group—Tatsuki Rio.
She hadn’t said much, but she was clearly the heart of the group.
Everyone was drawn to her beauty.
“…Um.”
“Come on, let’s totally go! Don’t you wanna take pictures too?”
“Right? Rio-chan would look so good in them!”
It wasn’t that they were ignoring her opinion, exactly,
But… the conversation was being pushed forward whether she liked it or not.
They probably knew she wasn’t all that eager.
But they were trying to drag her along and make it seem like it was already decided.
Kind of a nasty move, but I guess I get it.
They stick close to the most beautiful girl in class, and maybe they will get noticed, too. That’s the idea.
I’d picked up that kind of thought plenty of times with telepathy before.
Whether that’s good or bad, I wouldn’t know with my limited communication experience.
However, I just don’t personally like it.
“Then how about karaoke too?”
“Nice! I’m sooo singing that song—”
Well, none of that has anything to do with me.
I stopped eavesdropping and left the classroom through the other door.
I sympathize with Tatsuki, but it’s not something I should interfere with.
If she’s trying to be in that environment, then no one needs to say anything.
Feeling comfortable in an environment without telepathy, I head toward the station.
─On the way.
“Oh, um…!”
A voice called out from behind me.
It sounded almost like a shout, but even then, the voice was still modest.
I had a vague idea of who the voice belonged to, but I still couldn’t figure out why she’d be here.
“…Tatsuki-san?”
She was standing there with her hair and breath in disarray, as if she had been running.
“Um, uh… would you like to… walk home together?”
