Chapter 23: The Start of Summer Vacation
With summer vacation just around the corner, the closing ceremony was held today.
Starting tomorrow, the long-awaited summer break will finally begin.
Although school ended in the morning and I wanted to go home and relax, Chikage, Sakura, and Tsu-chan were all excited about summer vacation plans. It seemed impossible for them to allow me to be lazy.
Well, they were planning things for me too, so I was more happy than anything.
My schedule is almost entirely for everyone else. This won’t change during summer vacation; if anything, my plans will increase.
However, I didn’t expect Tsu-chan to suggest catching bugs.
Chikage firmly refused, saying, “Absolutely not,” and Sakura had a similar reaction. But Tsu-chan can be stubborn and showed no signs of backing down.
I don’t intend to treat Tsu-chan specially, but I do like beetles and stag beetles quite a bit.
Though, girls usually aren’t interested in insects, right? With various opinions and plans being discussed, we continued our lively chat.
After today, we probably won’t wear our summer uniforms for a while.
Tsu-chan had dyed her hair blonde just in time for summer vacation, and it really suited her. Her already gyaru-like appearance became even more pronounced, giving her a “new Tsu-chan” vibe.
I don’t have a particular preference for gyaru or pure styles, but the new Tsu-chan was incredibly cute, unmatched by anyone else. I also felt the same way when Chikage and Sakura styled their hair differently or did unique makeup, so it seemed I was easily captivated by new things.
“Hey, don’t you want to have a day just for cuddling?”
“I’m in favor.”
“Me too.”
“Uh… then I agree.”
“Okeihan, you perv.”
“You like it too, Kei.”
“Kei-kun, you naughty boy.”
“Wait, you all started it!”
As always, I stood no chance against these three.
“We can’t miss the beach, right? Don’t you want to see us in swimsuits, Okeihan?”
Tsu-chan teased, looking at me mischievously.
Alright. I’ll respond confidently and act mature.
“Yeah, I want to see. I’m sure you’ll all look great and absolutely beautiful.”
Tsu-chan spit out her barley tea in surprise.
“Whoa, Okeihan. You’re so honest.”
Hehe.
I’m evolving every day. I won’t be teased so easily anymore.
“Hey, Kei. Do you prefer swimsuits with less fabric or the cross-type? Do you like one-piece swimsuits more than bikinis?”
Chikage asked seriously.
“I’d prefer more fabric…”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t want other guys to see Chikage’s bare skin.”
When I muttered this quietly, Chikage’s face turned bright red, as if she had downed a strong alcoholic drink.
“Then… I’ll choose a cute one, okay?”
“Yeah.”
“Kei-kun, unlike the other two, I’m bigger, so even a normal bikini might have less fabric. What should I do?”
“Well… there’s not much we can do about that, right?”
“Ah, you’re so lenient with Sakurako. I’m fairly big too, you know? Compared to Tsukasa.”
“Hey, you two, can you not compete over your chest sizes?”
Tsu-chan leaned over the table, glaring at Sakura and Chikage’s chests alternately.
“That’s just fat. It’s a sign you didn’t try to lose weight.”
“I’m not that fat.”
“Yeah, same here. Tsukasa, maybe you should eat a bit more.”
“I do eat! This is just how I am, I stopped growing!”
Tsu-chan glared at Sakura, Chikage, and then me in turn.
Why did I get dragged into this too?
“I-I like small ones too.”
“See, that! That ‘small ones’ part is just… well, you know.”
“Okay, I get it. I mean, I like just the right size.”
“O-Okeihan… that caught me off guard. Well, that’s fine, I guess.”
Tsu-chan slumped over the table with steam practically rising from her red face.
Sakura and Chikage looked down at their own chests, puzzled by what “just the right size” meant. Their gestures had an indirect eroticism, and I quickly looked away, but yeah, I like bigger ones too… yeah.
“I want to wear a yukata too… but the festival day is right before the deadline, right?”
“Don’t remind us of reality.”
“It’s like homework. Finish it early, and it’s not a problem.”
“If there’s anything I can help with, don’t hesitate to ask.”
When I suggested this, everyone nodded with smiles.
“Hey? Should we do it once before summer vacation starts?”
“Chikage, that’s too forward.”
“I’m in favor. If Kei-kun is up for it.”
“Uh… I think I want to plan a bit more. Yeah, a bit more.”
“Okeihan, are you running away?”
Tsu-chan glared at me with squinted eyes, so I quickly turned my face away.
“Then, don’t you want to do something big? Like, really big?”
“Tsukasa, that sounds like a lot of work. Summer vacation might seem long, but it’s actually short. The time spent with Kei-kun is irreplaceable and, above all, precious.”
“Yeah… something big… hmm… like fireworks?”
“How is that different from the summer festival?”
“Ah… well… maybe because we do it ourselves?”
“We can do that anytime.”
“Don’t be so dismissive. Then you two think of something. Kei, do you have anything you want to do?”
“I do, but… it might be a bit much.”
I hesitated a bit with my words.
But it seemed like everyone had a rough idea of what I wanted to do, and they started grinning knowingly.
“The thing you were searching for online the other day, right?”
“Kei-kun, you’re quite the outdoorsman.”
“Kei, you’re surprisingly trendy.”
“…I-it’s fine, right? Everyone can enjoy it.”
“Camping with a barbecue sounds good. It seems fun.”
“Yeah.”
“Then Kei, you can plan where we’ll stay and all that.”
“Got it.”
Our summer vacation plans are steadily filling up.
t looks like it’s going to be a fun summer vacation. I’m almost certain we’ll make unforgettable memories.

We took a break from our discussion, and everyone started snacking.
Chikage sat next to me, almost as if declaring this spot as her usual place, pressing her shoulder against mine.
My heart started pounding… pounding. I could feel the thumping in my ears, and my cheeks quickly heated up. I’m still not used to this. Men, when they directly feel a woman’s body warmth, can’t help but have their hearts race.
As I was entranced by Chikage’s every move, Tsu-chan leaned in and stared at my face.
“Okeihan, aren’t you spoiling Chikage too much?”
“I don’t think so…”
“Even though you say you want to divide your feelings equally, you always start by giving Chikage the biggest share.”
“Don’t worry about it, Kei. Tsukasa is just not being honest with her feelings. I want to be close to you. Is that bad?”
“No, that’s fine.”
Chikage took my right hand and rubbed her cheek against it. So cute.
But from Tsu-chan’s perspective, it probably wasn’t fun to see me and Chikage in our own little world.
She turned away with a scowl, snorting in annoyance.
“Well, it’s fine, but Okeihan, you always prioritize Chikage.”
Sakura nodded in agreement with Tsu-chan’s opinion.
“It’s strange for Sakurako to nod in agreement. You’ve been studying for tests the whole time.”
“Tsukasa, Kei belongs to everyone, so jealousy isn’t good.”
“S-Shut up. I know that!”
Tsu-chan pouted and retorted to Chikage.
Come to think of it, I haven’t been paying much attention to Tsu-chan lately. After patting Chikage on the head, I stood up from the sofa and took Tsu-chan’s arm, leading her to the bedroom.
“O-Okeihan?”
“What?”
“I should be asking that… what’s going on?”
“Let’s talk over there.”
“o-okay…”
“Chikage, Sakura, I’m going to spend some time with Tsu-chan now, so could you wait for a bit?”
After asking Sakura and Chikage, I gently closed the bedroom door.
