Chapter 22: Please Give Me Your Son
“So, that’s how it is. Because of my poor explanation, my father seems to have developed some distrust…”
A few days had passed since the family meeting.
On a holiday, in one room of the familiar 4LDK apartment, I bowed deeply to everyone.
“And… um, my father wants to meet all of you at least once…”
As I confessed everything, feeling a bit pathetic, I received three different reactions.
Chikage was narrowing her eyes with a grin. Sakura was expressionless as usual… no, if you looked closely, her cheeks were slightly relaxed. Tsu-chan had a full-faced smile, showing her front teeth.
Their gazes felt so warm, it was almost suffocating.
“Finally, the time has come, Kei.”
“Huh?”
“Time to make a good impression.”
“Huh?”
“I mean, Okeihan, you don’t need to bow your head, do you? After all, we’re the ones asking a favor from you. I understand your father’s feelings and his concerns are valid.”
“Ah… um, thank you, everyone.”
I was half happy and half awkward because I didn’t expect them to accept it so easily. But still, the lump in my throat didn’t go away.
“But my father thinks it’s a strange job… It’s my fault for lowering everyone’s image. I thought it would definitely make him feel bad.”
“One of us—whether it’s me, Chikage, or Tsukasa—will definitely marry you, Kei-kun. It’s better to greet him sooner.”
Sakura answered my question calmly.
M-Marry?
This conversation seemed to be escalating a bit too quickly.
“W-Well, it’s not like such a future is impossible.”
“Kei, it’s not just a possibility, it’s definite. I can tolerate two of them, but no other girl. Actually, I’d prefer even they step back. I want to be your wife.”
“Hold on, Chikage, you’re jumping too far ahead. It’s up to Okeihan to choose. Besides, neither Sakurako nor I have any intention of backing down. Oh, Okeihan, why not tell your father that we’re dating?”
“Absolutely not.”
“No way.”
Chikage and Sakura answered simultaneously.
“See? This shows how we all feel about you, Okeihan.”
Tsu-chan grinned mischievously and gave a thumbs-up.
I never realized everyone cared about me this much. This warmth was not just about feeling comfortable; it was something special that touched my heart deeply, making my chest tighten unexpectedly.
As I declared to my father, I have decided to repay everyone’s kindness.
“Thank you. Really. Thank you, everyone.”
I bowed deeply once more.

As the saying goes, “Strike while the iron is hot,” and since it was a holiday, the three of them immediately agreed to meet. I had already contacted Dad and made the arrangements.
All three of them were dressed up, clearly putting in a lot of effort. As I watched them tidying up and fidgeting with anticipation, I walked towards my home.
I’m so nervous…
But I can’t just leave everything to them.
This is my family’s issue, and I need to handle it properly.

I led the three of them into the small living room of the Kyosaka house, where my father sat cross-legged, glancing over at us.
Tsu-chan, Chikage, and Sakura sat down facing my father. Akari and I sat next to the table, staring directly at him.
As soon as the three finished introducing themselves, Dad spoke up.
“Honestly… I’m surprised. I never thought such lovely girls would be friends with Kei.”
His tone was much calmer than I had imagined, with no anger in it.
However, he still seemed somewhat puzzled.
“I’m happy that you all are getting along with Kei… but, to be honest, I’m still a bit worried.”
“I understand how you feel, Father.”
Chikage quickly agreed with him.
“But I have no intention of letting Kei… Kei-kun go. I am determined to spend my life with him and make him happy.”
C-Chikage-san… I appreciate the kind words, but that’s something a man should be saying.
No, it still feels like this conversation is escalating too quickly.
“…Oh, um, thank you for thinking so highly of my son, Karasuma-san. But you’re… a high school student, right?”
Dad asked Chikage, blinking in surprise.
“Yes, I’m a high school student. I’m still a child. But I love Kei. I will support him. I believe I am the most suitable to be Kei’s wife!”
“Hold on a second, Chikage. We just agreed that no one gets to jump ahead.”
“Exactly. Direct appeals to his father are off-limits.”
Sakura and Tsu-chan stopped Chikage, who was leaning forward eagerly. All three of them seemed more assertive than usual.
“Kei… you, well, you’re getting along with some impressive girls.”
“Ahaha… I agree with that.”
I laughed wryly.
The word “impressive” didn’t even begin to describe these three perfect girls who had always supported me.
But from now on, that wouldn’t be enough. In this situation, the only thing I could do was honestly and sincerely talk to my father.
I needed to convey it straight.
“Everyone here is irreplaceable and very important to me.”
I said firmly. The three of them looked very happy at my words.
Dad seemed deep in thought.
Eventually, he slowly opened his eyes. I held my breath, watching him.
I was anxious about what the outcome would be, but I didn’t want the efforts of the three to go to waste, so I forced a smile.
“If you truly care about Kei, don’t say you’ll support him. If you do, Kei will never grow up or become a man. I might have old-fashioned views, but at least, having someone join the family means that Kei should make you happy.”
“Then, I will devote my life to supporting Kei, Father. So please give me your son.”
“Eh… Karasuma-san? This is a bit too fast.”
Chikage leaned forward and pressed my father, speaking quickly.
“My son isn’t that easy to… wait, what am I saying? Kei, you’ve got some extraordinary people on your side.”
Dad looked at me, breaking into a cold sweat.
“Well, that’s true…”
“Okeihan’s father, Chikage is a bit unusual, so I think I would be a better choice for a wife. Your son is more suited to be with me.”
“Isn’t Tsukasa the most unusual one?”
“Chikage is definitely the strange one.”
“Both of them are a bit odd. I can support Kei-kun properly. Father, I think I am the best choice.”
“W-Wait, calm down. I’m glad you all care about my son, but… this country doesn’t allow polygamy.”
W-What are you saying, Dad?
“Then we’ll move to a country that does.”
“Ah, as expected of Sakurako. That could work.”
“Hmm… If we did that, then we could all have Kei to ourselves.”
“A-Are you all really high school students?”
This feels like a comedy skit…
Everyone stood their ground firmly.
They all seemed ready to fight to the end with strong will and determination.
Dad looked around, clearly unsure of what to do.
At this point, my father had no room to argue.
“I want to be everyone’s little sister. Please take good care of my big brother.”
Akari bowed her head.
The three of them looked at each other and smiled broadly.
“”Leave it to us!””
“My goodness…”
My father raised his hands in surrender.
“To be admired by such amazing girls… I guess I have no right to complain anymore.”
“Dad…”
Words are like magic.
When infused with intent and feelings, they carry meaning and can change the world. With such fantastic thoughts in mind, I whispered a thank you to my father.
Thus, the introductions of Chikage, Tsu-chan, and Sakura concluded smoothly.
“Everyone… Please stay for dinner. Kei, can you cook for us?”
Dad suggested this to ease the tension in the air. I smiled and headed to the kitchen.
