Chapter 10: In the Library
Since the incident during lunch the other day, I started calling Ono-san by her nickname, Tsu-chan.
Even though it was just a small change… or maybe because it was just a small change, Karasuma-san and Daigo-san felt that Tsu-chan and I had grown even more closer.
The pressure from those two was getting stronger by the day.
It was now past the middle of May, and June was quickly approaching.
The rainy season was just around the corner. Though it wasn’t raining yet, the sky was filled with dull, gray clouds.
One humid afternoon, Daigo-san called me to the library.
She said she needed help organizing books, so it was just the two of us.
I could hear the shouts of students practicing their club activities on the field and the music from the brass band club upstairs.
As I returned books from a crowded book cart to the shelves, I felt the unique atmosphere of the library.
Hearing the surrounding sounds so clearly meant this space was especially quiet.
(It’s peaceful here.)
“Ah, that goes on the K shelf, 37th spot.”
“Oh, sorry. I was zoning out a bit.”
I need to focus. Since I’m here helping Daigo-san, I should concentrate.
I continued working in silence.
I knew there should be more than one library committee member, so I wondered where the others were. It seemed a bit unfair to leave all this work to Daigo-san alone.
“Thanks, Kyosaka-kun. Thanks to you, we’re finishing up quickly.”
Daigo-san’s voice echoed in the quiet library.
“No problem. I’m happy to be of help.”
“I’ll add this to your part-time pay.”
“T-That’s a bit much. I’d feel bad.”
“Don’t worry, I already got permission from Tsukasa.”
That made it hard to refuse.
Thinking of it as paid work made me more motivated, and if it could lighten Daigo-san’s load even a little, that would be perfect.
As I arranged the books, I glanced sideways at Daigo-san.
Her hair seemed a bit longer than before. She had a bob cut with some cherry blossom-colored highlights. Just a slight change, but it made her hair look fluffier and more voluminous.
And without lowering my gaze, I could see her well-endowed figure.
Despite having such a figure, her waist was slim, like a finely crafted statue of a goddess.
Daigo-san didn’t seem to care about her appearance, or maybe she was just confident. While Karasuma-san and Tsu-chan often touched their hair, I’d never seen Daigo-san do so.
Of the three, Daigo-san is definitely the most mysterious.
Karasuma-san always wears a mask, giving off a mysterious vibe, but Daigo-san has an elusive, refined aura like a noble lady hidden behind a veil.
I felt that this was a chance to get a bit closer to Daigo-san.
Even though I’d already been helping, I wanted to know more about her.
“Now there’s just your part left, Daigo-san. I’ll do it all, so you can take a break.”
I climbed a stepladder and started organizing the top shelves.
The spines of the books had labels with letters and numbers, so it was easy to put them in order.
“I can’t reach up there, so you’re a big help.”
“Glad to be of assistance.”
I said, in a slightly playful tone.
After returning all the books to their proper places, I climbed down from the ladder.
“Good job, Kyosaka-kun.”
“You too, Daigo-san.”
“Just call me Sakura. That’s what my parents call me. I’ll call you Kei-kun. Is that okay?”
“Of course. Then, I’ll call you Sakura.”
My heart was pounding. It was the first time a girl my age had called me by my first name.
I didn’t count Tsu-chan’s “Okeihan” since it was just a nickname.
When I called her “Sakura,” she smiled a bit shyly. It was a tiny change, barely noticeable unless you looked closely.
After we finished our work in the library, Sakura handed me a book.
It was an old hardcover book.
I knew the title because it was an award-winning work.
“I’d like to read this with you during our free time. Is that okay?”
I had no reason to refuse.
I took the book from Sakura and sat in the nearest chair, opening it.
*
(Oof…)
The book was a romance novel.
Moreover, it had many sensual descriptions.
“It’s strange, right? Many of the major literary awards in Japan go to these intense love stories. Lots of people criticize erotic content, but if it’s literature, it’s accepted. I can’t agree with this vague boundary. Using explicit language is considered adult content, but using unique expressions makes it literature for adults. It’s just the same thing with different words, in my opinion.”
Sakura gazed at the printed words and continued speaking passionately.
With such a beautiful girl so close, I couldn’t stay calm.
The scent of her shampoo tickled my nose.
It was a mix of soap and a sweet, sugary smell, a typical soft and sweet fragrance that made my heart beat faster.
We were sitting so close that our shoulders touched. Even though I tried not to notice, I could feel her body heat directly.
“Hikaru Genji, for example, would be considered a lolicon by today’s standards, and he was unfaithful too. ‘The Tale of Genji’ vividly depicts eroticism, but that’s what makes it interesting. What I’m trying to say is, Tsukasa, Chikage, and I love literature, art, and entertainment. We’re not just creating erotic content. I want you to understand that, Kei-kun.”
Sakura looked up from the book and stared at me.
Her delicate face had a serious expression, and her eyes were so intense that it was hard to meet her gaze.
“I don’t know if I completely understand, but I get that you, Tsu-chan, and Karasuma-san are very sincere about your work.”
“Thank you. Many people criticize this kind of work, so I wanted you to understand, Kei-kun.”
“I see.”
“Yeah.”
Sakura nodded, then slipped her tie out from under her cardigan. She started unbuttoning her blouse, one button at a time.
“What are you doing?”
“I can’t explain everything yet, but I want you to understand what I’m about to do, Kei-kun. There’s nothing like real experience when it comes to writing a story. I’ll use this experience in my story. Tell me if you feel anything.”
Sakura unbuttoned her blouse further, revealing her cleavage.
I was mesmerized by the sight.
“Wait, wait. What are you really doing?”
“I don’t understand boys’ emotions, and there’s a limit to what I can imagine. So, I want to see how you react to temptation.”
“What happens if I react?”
“I can write more exciting scenarios.”
“I… I want to help, but this isn’t just because you want to do this, right?”
“I won’t deny it. Unlike Tsukasa, I’m not shy.”
Did this mean Sakura got aroused while reading?
“But using this in my writing isn’t a lie either.”
Her passionate explanation felt oddly like a guy trying to persuade a girl, which seemed a bit backward. It reminded me of Tsu-chan.
In front of me was undeniably a beautiful girl with the best figure in school. Yet, why did I feel like I was the one being cornered?
Maybe it’s because I’m not manly enough. Letting a girl go this far and then running away would be dishonorable.
Especially with Sakura, who usually doesn’t talk much, it would be really rude to just refuse.
Determined, I closed the book and settled deeper into my chair.
“If you tempt me, Sakura, I think I might not be able to resist.”
“That’s fine. We’ve already done this many times, so don’t hold back.”
“Then I won’t.”
When I said that, Sakura gently placed her hand over mine, guiding it to her melon-sized breast. It had a softness and elasticity unlike anything I had ever felt before.
(Wow…)
My fingers sank into her flesh.
Just pressing my fingertips made them sink further. I struggled to control the impulse to squeeze roughly.
“I think it’s better to continue this at Tsukasa’s house. But if I can’t hold back at school, I’ll tempt you like this again.”
Hearing Sakura’s heart pounding so intensely gave me a strange sense of euphoria.
“This is where you can hear my heartbeat. Unlike Tsukasa or Chikage, I have big breasts. Remember that.”
“I understand…”
“Can you feel it? My heart beating faster?”
I could. Beyond the large, heavy, and soft sensation, I felt a small heartbeat.
“I can… Your heartbeat is getting faster, Sakura.”
“I get excited too. When we’re together with the others, I’m the one who gets the least attention.”
“Eh?”
“Unconsciously, you focus more on Chikage and Tsukasa. Right now, it’s Tsukasa, isnt it? It makes me feel like I’m second to them.”
As I felt the soft, water balloon-like sensation in my palm, I tried to process her words. I hadn’t meant to make her feel that way…
“There are things only I can do, things Tsukasa could never do. Today, I want you to rely on me the most.”
“Sakura… I’m sorry. If it’s not too late, I want to respond to your feelings.”
If she wanted, I would do anything for her.
“Kei-kun, kiss me.”
“Okay.”
I pressed my lips against hers.
*
After that, we went all the way.
In the school library. From behind, no less.
Even though it was her request, I felt like a beast.
But if it made Sakura happy, I was ready to become anything, even a monster.
Soon, we left the library, changed our shoes at the lockers, and exited through the school entrance.
The sky was a deep shade of red. Tsu-chan and Karasuma-san were waiting for us at the school gate.
Sakura clung to my arm, pressing her body close to mine.
“Don’t tell me… did you and Sakurako do it, Okeihan?”
“You took quite a while. We thought you were just organizing books.”
“I told you to go home first. Blaming Kei-kun isn’t fair.”
Sakura looked at Tsu-chan and Karasuma-san, defending me.
“Kei… kun?”
Karasuma-san’s voice trembled.
Tsu-chan also had a serious look on her face. Normally cheerful, the two of them showing their emotions so quietly was incredibly powerful, more than words could ever convey.
Their eyes were fixed on me.
Especially Karasuma-san, whose gaze was incredibly intense, even sharper than usual.
“Kyosaka.”
“Yes.”
“Okeihan.”
“Tsukasa, be quiet.”
“Yes… yes.”
“What did you start calling Sakurako?”
“Uh, well…”
The unexpected question left me speechless.
“I… I started calling her Sakura.”
“Hmm, I see. So, I’m the only one left behind. Anyway, I sent you a message on Line. Check it.”
I checked my Line messages and saw one from Karasuma-san.
[Come to the back of the gym during gym class tomorrow.]
It was a short message, but the meaning was clear.
I sent back a confirmation stamp.
