Chapter 167: Feeling Conflicted
What on earth is going on?
Is Kaisar-sama not from a ducal family after all? The attitude of those around us seems even worse than how nobles typically treat commoners.
“… G-Good morning, Kaisar-sama.”
Amidst the tension, a woman greeted Kaisar-sama politely.
The atmosphere surrounding nobles stirred, indicating that this woman holds a high rank. However, she seems frightened, her hands trembling visibly.
“Liliana, huh… Where is Olivia?”
“What—What have you done this time!? Tell me!”
“Huh?”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry! Please forgive me! I don’t mean to oppose you!”
Initially polite, the woman suddenly erupted in anger and immediately started apologizing to Kaisar-sama as if her life depended on it. Her mental state was clearly unstable. This left the surrounding nobles in disgust, chattering amongst themselves.
I still don’t fully understand Kaisar-sama’s status here in the Empire or his relationship with this woman, but something is certainly off. And it frustrates me that I don’t know if it’s appropriate to ask about it.
It’s becoming clear that I’m starting to see Kaisar-sama in a friendly light. While this should be natural, considering how my perception of him has changed since we met, I’ve never really held a favourable impression of men before, so I’m somewhat uncertain about my feelings.
Interestingly, Kaisar-sama didn’t look at me with the lecherous gaze that most men I’ve met before did. That’s a first for me since I hit puberty. While this makes me lean towards a favourable impression of him, it also makes me wonder if it’s because he’s not interested in me. That leaves me feeling conflicted.
I don’t even know how to process these conflicting emotions within me.
