Chapter 01: I Had Nothing to Be Proud Of
I, Kaisar Von Kvist, had nothing to be proud of.
The only thing that could be considered somewhat notable about me was that my parents were of noble blood, but other than that, everything else was slightly below average.
I was mediocre in magic, martial arts, and academics. Since my skills were only slightly below average in general, when I got compared to other students at the Imperial Magic Academy where I attended, my skills in magic were considered the worst of the worst.
To put it differently, only a few commoners were worse than me in magic, while there were no nobles with grades below mine.
“Ara? Why is a filthy stray dog disguised as a noble walking down the Magic Academy’s Noble Division’s corridor?”
“W-well… Um… B-but… I am a noble…”
“Be quiet. I can’t believe someone as useless as you would dare to speak about being a noble.”
“… I-I’m sorry.”
Liliana Do Gold, a stunningly beautiful girl with black hair as lustrous as obsidian and the student council president of the Magic Academy, approached me. However, her words were just as usual, full of abuse and insults.
If I complained here, I would only bring more trouble upon myself. So, I apologized sincerely.
Since when? When did I stop feeling anything while apologizing?
“Ara? Didn’t you hear me? Crawl on the floor and rub your forehead against the ground as gratitude for the generosity of nobles to allow someone like you to use this hallway.”
“…”
“Typical. You can’t even do something that simple. You’ll always be a useless piece of trash. However, I’m kinder than you, so I’ll help you clear your mind. Water magic, Level 1 [Water Sphere].“
“Guhh!”
Apparently, Liliana didn’t like my attitude and unleashed her water magic, [Water Sphere], hitting me in the stomach.
Even if [Water Sphere] was just a level 1 water magic, Liliana, someone skilled in magic and tournament winner two years in a row, was an expert at using it.
For me, who had no way of defending myself against magic, getting hit directly by it was as painful as it gets.
“Really, you’re such a useless piece of trash. It’s your fault that the hallway got flooded. Clean up the water later, you hear me?”
Liliana said this with a look of utter contempt, then walked away.
“It wasn’t always like this…”
