- Chapter 43: Epilogue - End Volume 1
After resolving the matter with Hanazono-san, I returned to my daily life.
Tsukimiya-san resumed her school attendance, and our relationship was restored, allowing us to interact as we used to.
In the morning, Tsukimiya-san came to pick me up, and we went to school together.
I also returned to my part-time job.
Yokawa-san seized every opportunity to cling to me at both school and work, often attempting to initiate lengthy phone conversations in the evenings.
Undaunted, Usuki-san once again took to sneaking into my closet. Whenever I impulsively opened the closet door, she was almost always there.
“Can’t you stop entering without permission?”
“…I-I’m sorry. Fufu.”
The more I warned her and gave her disapproving looks, the more ecstatic Usuki-san seemed to become.
At this point, she might be invincible.
I’ve come to think that perhaps ignoring her might be better.
I mean, doesn’t she need to go home?
Fujisawa Sensei, previously on leave, made her return to school. Thanks to Tsukimiya-san’s treatment, Sensei no longer carelessly messed with me.
Instead, I was now treated with exceptional care, almost like a VIP.
And then the weekend arrived.
Today, I was scheduled to go out with Tsukimiya-san.
It was me who had asked her out.
Until now, I had only thought about keeping Tsukimiya-san at a distance.
After the incident with Hanazono-san, I had thought I wouldn’t engage in romance. I decided not to get too involved with girls who liked me.
But now, my thoughts have somewhat changed.
I wanted to know more about Tsukimiya-san, so when I asked her out, she responded with a mix of surprise and confusion.
“Eh? With me…?”
It was rare to see Tsukimiya-san, who is usually calm and composed, flustered. Just seeing that made me feel like asking her out was worth it.
“…Yeah, that’s fine.”
Eventually, she agreed, and our outing was set.
Thinking about it, this was our first time together, just the two of us.
When I headed to the meeting place before the station, Tsukimiya-san was already waiting. Tsukimiya-san, in her casual clothes, was unusually beautiful, attracting the attention of everyone around.
“Sorry, did I make you wait?”
“No, not at all.”
Really?
I wouldn’t be surprised if Tsukimiya-san had arrived an hour early.
“Why did you ask me out today?”
“Do I need a reason to ask?”
“If it were the Aiji-kun from before, you wouldn’t have done this.”
She had seen right through me.
Being together with Tsukimiya-san, I could feel the stares of passersby on us. Both boys and girls looked surprised.
Then, seeing me next to her, their expressions turned to, “Eh?” as if they found it unexpected.
I knew this, but we didn’t match up well.
“Hey, can I ask you something?”
“Hm?”
“Why did you come to like me, Tsukimiya-san?”
I haven’t done anything that would make Tsukimiya-san like me. I haven’t helped her or anything like that.
Of course, I’m not the kind of person who would be liked by a girl just by being around.
“If I said it was love at first sight, would you believe me?”
“That might lack convincing power.”
I don’t think I’m particularly handsome.
In terms of looks alone, Tsukimiya-san and I don’t match. Well, she may have unusual tastes.
“So, what’s the real reason?”
“Hehe. That’s a secret.♪”
Tsukimiya-san placed a finger to her lips and smiled enchantingly.
She won’t tell me straight.
Well, that’s fine.
If I can slowly learn more about her, that’s good enough.
What kind of movies does she like, and what food she enjoys?
Such trivial things slowly accumulated.
We walked side by side, heading in the same direction.

During my days as a child actor, every day was shrouded in gray.
I would gauge the mood of my mother and other adults, performing the behaviors they desired. It was akin to perpetual acting, always playing the part of the convenient child, both on and off the set.
It seemed I had a natural talent and quickly made a name for myself.
This brought an influx of wealth and fame.
My mother was swept up as though it was all for her, basking in the adoration from adults and envy from fellow child actors.
Hardly attending school, my days were consumed by portraying someone else on set, and then at home, the compliant daughter my mother desired.
To outsiders, I was a picture of success.
But I felt suffocated.
Eventually, I reached my breaking point and fled.
After boarding a strange train, I ended up in an unfamiliar park at an unfamiliar station and crouched in the shadow of a slide, hugging my knees.
I stayed there until evening when a boy about my age approached me.
“What are you doing here all by yourself?”
I told him I had run away from home because I was fed up with everything.
Without prying further, the boy simply said, “If you’ve got nothing to do, let’s hang out together.”
This boy didn’t try to flatter me or show jealousy.
He treated me as an equal, without any bias.
The time I spent with him was genuinely enjoyable.
I forgot about everything else and played to my heart’s content. Being with him made the world seem colorful, and a warm happiness spread through me.
As the sun set and night fell, a woman’s voice called, “Yuto, it’s time to go.”
“Sorry, I have to go back now,” said the boy, Yuto, apologizing to me.
I didn’t want to part ways yet.
Yet, I was no longer just a child, not to the extent of pleading with him emotionally to stay. Instead, I asked, “If we meet again, will you play with me?”
“Yeah! Of course!”
After that, I never saw him again.
I visited the park many times but never caught sight of him.
However, the time spent with him became a treasured memory, cherished daily like nurturing an egg in my heart.
It was only a few hours.
But in my memories, we were always together.
I loved him.
Then, a transfer student came to my class one day in my second year of high school.
His name was Aiji Yuto, and I saw the boy from that day in him.
When I saw the mole on his neck, I was certain.
We had met again.
I haven’t revealed this to him.
What’s a precious gem of a memory to me might just be another ordinary day to him.
But that’s okay.
My love for Aiji-kun has always been. And it will forever be.

Volume One, The Conclusion!
This marks a break!
Writing updates on a tightrope, without any backlog, doing the day’s writing on that day itself, but thanks to everyone’s support, I somehow managed to keep running! I’ve read all the support comments, and they have been a great source of strength! Thank you so much!
I was inspired to start this project out of a desire to depict a clash of yanderes akin to Sadako vs. Kayako. For the second volume, I envision a scenario where the current heroine and new heroines become entangled in a battle over the protagonist.
Your follow and a ★ review below would be incredibly motivating for what comes next!
I am also keenly anticipating discussions on potentially turning this into a published book…!
