- I, Who Am Somehow Only Liked by Yanderes, Tried Transferring into a Class Full of Yandere Girls
- Chapter 16: Closing the Distance
I inadvertently let my guard down, and the class had ended by the time I realized it.
As the chime of the bell echoed mercilessly, I wiped the drool off my stark white notebook.
Naturally, I hadn’t written down anything from the science lecture.
This had never happened to me before.
Even though I’d fallen asleep during world history lectures, which were like hypnotic inductions, I had always taken other classes seriously.
Why did I fall asleep?
The reason was clear.
It was because of a lack of sleep.
Recently, Yokawa-san had started calling me every night.
Initially, we exchanged messages on Ruin’s Mess, but one day, Yokawa-san suggested we should talk directly.
She said waiting for replies in messaging was bothersome.
There wasn’t any specific reason for the calls. They were just endless and aimless conversations, like bubbles that you’d forget by the next morning.
The calls themselves were enjoyable.
It was enjoyable, but they went on for an absurdly long time.
If it ended in three hours, that was considered short. Sometimes, we talked until morning. Just yesterday, we spoke until around 3 AM.
As expected, this led to sleep deprivation and my sleeping through classes.
And this wasn’t the first time.
It had happened several times already.
As a result, I had to borrow notes from Tsukimiya-san.
For now, she lent them to me, albeit with amazement and irritation. But I felt like I would soon receive a firm judgment without leniency.
I knew I had to change. I should cut the calls short, but when I try to steer the conversation that way…
“Umm… Just a little bit more…♪”
“Listening to Aiji-kun’s voice calms me down.”
“Then we don’t have to talk. Just stay on the call. It feels like you’re right beside me, and that helps me sleep.”
Somehow, she skillfully avoided ending the call, and time would slip away until morning.
But Yokawa-san herself…
“Ahaha! Really? That’s hilarious!”
She was incredibly lively.
Despite lacking sleep like me, she showed no signs of it and seemed as energetic as the sun.
She had recently become very talkative at school. Despite having many other friends, she focused her attention solely on me.
As if she wanted to spend every possible moment together.
After a recent seat change, Yokawa-san sat beside me, increasing our chances to talk.
☆
Yokawa-san’s behavior had also changed at our part-time job.
She was trying hard to match my shifts.
After finding my schedule, she would submit her shift preferences to coincide with mine. Lately, we’ve been on the same shifts every time.
There was a grudge between the manager and me.
It started when I told the manager, who was persistently approaching Yokawa-san, that we were dating and he should stop.
So, I was wary that he might try something.
However, nothing out of the ordinary happened.
As I wondered why, the manager revealed the reason one day.
“Aiji-kun, I’ve become obsessed with NTR.”
He told me this in the office as I clocked in for work.
“The more you and Yokawa-san flirt, the more I remember the sadness of losing her, which excites me.”
It seems he had developed a strange fetish.
“So, you two should flirt as much as you want. It fuels me.”
That felt weird.
First, Yokawa-san and the manager weren’t dating, and I hadn’t slept with Yokawa-san, so it wasn’t NTR.
“I can’t understand that.”
“You saying that means you have the potential.”
I don’t.
After that, when Yokawa-san and I were working the same shift, I was restocking items.
When I was replenishing drinks in the back of the store—behind the refrigerator where bottled drinks were displayed—she suddenly hugged me from behind.
“Yokawa-san…!?”
“Ahaha. I was curious about you, so I came.”
“But then there’s nobody at the register.”
“There aren’t any customers right now, so it’s fine.”
I could feel her pressing against my back.
And her scent was nice.
“Aren’t you a little too close?”
“We’re pretending to be a couple for the manager. We should act like a real couple once in a while.”
Yokawa-san said this cheerfully, and then,
“Like this, hug.♪”
She hugged me tighter as if playing around.
However, I felt that Yokawa-san had been getting unusually close lately, as if she wanted to spend as much time together as possible.
It felt a bit like an obsession.
But she probably sees me as a friend, and I don’t want to confess and get rejected due to a misunderstanding.
By the way, there’s a surveillance camera in the back room, and our actions can be seen from the monitor in the office.
The manager is probably watching this scene right now.
And most likely, he’s crying and getting excited about it.
