I Was Unreasonably Dumped By My Girlfriend And Had My Heart Broken. When I Rescued A Beautiful Girl Who Was My Former Classmate And Idol In My Class From A Group Of Yarisa, My Gray College Life Started To Shine - Chapter 9
Episode 9: Please Order More Pizza!
“There are quite a few clubs other than the ones we looked up online.”
“Well, there are also small clubs, you know.”
Yesterday, when I was looking for the Cosmos club on campus, I saw all the booths at a glance.
However, I hadn’t had the opportunity to scrutinize them closely, so now, as we looked at each booth one by one, it felt quite fresh.
Nevertheless, it wasn’t like we were having fun.
“Wow, that girl is cute.”
“She’s unbelievably beautiful, but it looks like she already has a boyfriend.”
“Nah, that guy next to her isn’t all that great. At her level, I bet she could snatch someone else.”
Her appearance, embodying Aoba’s cuteness, attracted people wherever we went, and quite a few devious glances were directed at me, lashing out at me.
“Hey, want to try these cookies we got from the baking club we saw earlier? They’re delicious. Want some?”
Despite attracting those glances, the person herself seemed carefree, happily munching on cookies as she walked beside me with an air of half-skipping.
And that carefreeness was abnormal.
“Hey, wanna check out our club!? Please, even if your boyfriend comes along!”
“Uh, what kind of club is it?”
I thought we were being stopped and addressed, but the club’s name was “Sunflower”.
In other words, it was one of those notorious flower-named clubs. Moreover, there were several club members lurking behind, apparently eager to rope us in.
I immediately pulled her hand and moved away from the spot.
“Wait a minute.”
“Can you wait? What’s with the ‘What kind of club is it?’ You know, it’s obviously suspicious. It’s way too shady.”
“Was it? I didn’t notice.”
Too naive… No, it’s not even at that level.
This is like a small animal wandering around with the wariness of a primary school student towards strangers.
For now, I distanced myself and took a breath.
Then, looking to my side, there was the booth of the futsal club, Shukyufutsuka.
That was the place I was considering visiting after talking to Asuka.
I wanted to avoid clubs where there might be confrontations.
I moved further and further down the line of booths.
As I walked, purely focused on avoiding danger, I found myself almost reaching the end before I knew it.
When I finally realized, I quickly let go of her hand.
My face felt hot on its own, but…
“Uh, sorry…”
“It’s okay, it’s okay. In fact, I’m glad you stopped me!”
Aoba said nonchalantly.
At this point, there were fewer people around.
There were booths, but the atmosphere was far from lively.
So, we could hear the voices of the seniors sitting at the booths quite clearly.
“…President, things aren’t going well at all. Is it normal to be assigned to such a remote location?”
“I also deeply regret that. I feel terribly sorry.”
“Apologizing won’t change the outcome. It can’t be helped.”
Such a sad conversation was unfolding with eyes closed by the people, sitting at the booth of the volunteer club, Tiana.
The man referred to as the president spoke in a very formal manner, while the woman sitting next to him spoke in broken sentences.
The atmosphere was gloomy.
Even though there were new students right in front of them, they didn’t seem to notice.
It felt like we shouldn’t get any closer.
Trying to leave quietly, suddenly, the information came crashing in.
“What should we do about today’s welcome party? The venue is secured, but should we reduce the order for pizza, yakitori, and hors d’oeuvres? We planned for 25 people, but so far, even with the new students, there are only 20.”
“…Change the reservation. We already have some prepared, so we won’t run out.”
“That’s wise.”
Pizza, yakitori, and on top of that, hors d’oeuvres.
Even though we’re college students, we’re still just high schoolers with a bit of hair on our heads, and the sound of it all is nothing short of a dream.
I looked at Aoba, and we nodded at each other.
Despite the atmosphere…
Since we weren’t being blatantly recruited, there didn’t seem to be a need for undue concern. As I was about to step forward…
“Please increase the pizza order… I mean, please let us hear your story!!”
Aoba jumped into the booth ahead of me.
