I Was Unreasonably Dumped By My Girlfriend And Had My Heart Broken. When I Rescued A Beautiful Girl Who Was My Former Classmate And Idol In My Class From A Group Of Yarisa, My Gray College Life Started To Shine - Chapter 6
Episode 6: We Weren’t Supposed To Reunite In The Future… But We Met Again Right Away
The next day, I woke up in the worst way.
I was jolted awake by the alarm, struggling to crawl out of bed, still shaken from nightmares.
The reason, of course, was the fact that I had been dumped by Asuka.
I’m not strong enough to switch gears immediately after being dumped. Rather, I’m aware that I’m quite emotionally fragile.
However,
“…I have to go to school.”
I managed to think this much, at least.
That’s probably thanks to the words I received from Aoba Hikari last night.
If I ever meet her again, I should express my gratitude.
Well, Aoba and I are like yin and yang, so to speak.
We haven’t even exchanged contact information, so it’s unlikely we’ll be involved with each other in the future.
Reflecting on last night’s events, I let out a sigh as I regained a bit of vitality. Then, after preparing myself, I left the house, stuffing my mouth with cheap 100-yen stick bread, the only decent food available at home.
Starting today, for a week, it’s the period for course registration at the university.
As college students, we have to choose our own courses.
At Keido University, it’s considered the norm to decide on courses and circles while consulting with classmates.
At least that’s what I found when I searched online.
But naturally, I don’t have any friends.
Because I didn’t attend the orientation or the social gathering yesterday, I don’t know anyone in the literature department.
“…This feels like jumping straight into hard mode. Is this my second playthrough of an RPG?”
Arriving at the literature department building on the east side of the school grounds, I muttered quietly.
There, a group of freshmen from the social sciences department, although divided by gender, had already formed several groups. Moreover, they seemed to be getting along quite well.
I felt hesitant to approach them, but without talking to someone, I wouldn’t have any information.
I tried to join one of the groups.
But then, they frowned slightly.
This doesn’t seem like an inviting atmosphere.
I pretended as if nothing happened and passed by their side.
…What? Could it be that I’m emitting some kind of negative aura that I can’t hide?
Well, it’s true that I didn’t sleep well yesterday, so I might have heavy eye bags.
As I stood in front of the door, someone tapped my shoulder from behind.
“S-Sorry!”
Perhaps I was blocking their way.
I stepped aside, then turned around.
“You’re already here? That’s early.”
And there she was, Aoba Hikari.
Today, too, she was shining.
In a knee-length dress adorned with scattered stars against a black background, boldly showcasing her legs, she wore beige platform boots on her feet.
Moreover, the boots were of the same color as the ribbon tying her half-up hair, creating a subtle sense of harmony.
I was momentarily captivated and then startled.
“What are you doing, Aoba-san?”
“Wow, that’s harsh coming from a classmate. What about you? You’re here to register for courses too, right, Nagami-kun?”
“Huh? Aoba-san, are you in the literature department too?”
“Yup. And, Shagaku. We’re in the same department.”
“…Are you serious?”
“Yep, yep. Your name was called during yesterday’s orientation, and I knew we were in the same department. Didn’t I mention that?”
I vigorously shook my head.
“You didn’t mention anything like that. Not at all. Besides, after that, you said you were suddenly sleepy, and we barely talked.”
Indeed, after that, Aoba was suddenly hit by drowsiness and slept soundly for three hours in the park.
Moreover, she seemed to have reached the level of deep sleep, peacefully closed her eyes and breathed softly.
During that time, I couldn’t sleep, just waiting for her to wake up while staring at the sky.
In the end, I had to walk her home.
Ueno at night is quite a lively area.
I hesitated to let her walk alone while she was drunk and her judgment impaired.
Afterward, I wandered back to Ueno Station, somehow making my way home.
I arrived home after 1 a.m.
The heaviness in my body isn’t just because I was rejected; it’s also one of the reasons.
The simple physical exhaustion hasn’t completely faded yet.
“Oh, right… Anyway, thanks for yesterday. Thanks to you, I’m feeling great again!”
Well, even if she says that with a smile while baring her teeth, I don’t feel bad for some reason. It’s strange.
