I Was Unreasonably Dumped By My Girlfriend And Had My Heart Broken. When I Rescued A Beautiful Girl Who Was My Former Classmate And Idol In My Class From A Group Of Yarisa, My Gray College Life Started To Shine - Chapter 34
Episode 34: The Young Lady Is Out Of Place Even At The Pharmacy
♢
I am at the pharmacy with Imazato-san. We are shopping in line holding one basket.
An hour ago, I never would have imagined this happening.
This pharmacy is right near Aoba’s apartment.
We came here by taxi. Using the train would take nearly 30 minutes, including transfers, but since the road was clear, it only took about 10 minutes.
It was a surprisingly quick arrival.
If all goes well, considering the time for the visit, we might even make it in time for afternoon classes.
However, a miscalculation awaited us during the shopping.
“Imazato-san, you can’t just put everything in like that.”
As expected, she was a typical young lady. She just casually throws everything she sees into the basket. And the items she puts in are already a mess.
“But this drink says, ‘provides energy to the body’. This tablet says, ‘effective for colds and fevers’. And this tablet says, ‘energizes you even at night’. I thought they all seemed like they would help with a cold.”
“No, it’s not good to take cold medicine and nutritional drinks together because they won’t work well.”
And the last tablet is completely different. She’s completely misinterpreting “energize”. Products made from snake or turtle powder definitely give a different kind of “energize”.
Without further ado, I return them to the shelf.
“Why are you putting that back instead of the cold medicine? It’s 5,000 yen per bottle. It’s significantly more expensive compared to other items. It must have remarkable effects.”
Then, she peeks at me from the side. She’s like a child asking “why” about everything. Thinking that high price = effectiveness is also part of it.
Having too much knowledge can be troublesome too.
It feels like when a child asks, “How are babies made?” with a serious face, and when you answer, “Storks bring them,” they say, “Tell me the truth,” and you’re a parent feeling that way.
“Ah, for starters, when you’re just starting to get a fever, it’s better to go with cold medicine.”
“I see, is that so?”
Saying something like that somehow calms things down.
I’m relieved that she backed off, but upon closer inspection, there are items clearly labeled with their purpose.
If I have to see those items with a young lady whom I’ve only had one meal with, it would be extremely awkward.
Staying here for too long might stir up trouble.
So, I hurriedly moved to the food section.
In the large pharmacy, there’s a good selection of groceries.
When it comes to this section, there’s something certain.
When you have a fever, rice porridge and cut fruits are the usual choices.
As I reach for them, I keep an eye out to make sure the young lady doesn’t pick something weird.
Surprisingly, her choices are quite safe.
Yogurt, oranges, and what looks like a gentle seaweed soup.
None of them are too far off from what I can imagine.
In an unexpected turn of events, it’s surprisingly normal.
“Is there something wrong?”
“No, not at all. It’s actually spot on.”
After feeling relieved, I put several types of rice porridge in the basket.
But they’re quickly returned to the shelf.
“Why?”
“Let me cook them for her. The result will surely be more delicious.”
“That might be true…”
“Which is why we should buy the ingredients. How about adding wakame seaweed, radishes, grated yam, and okra as toppings to give it more stickiness?”
…Seems like it’s going to be a sticky one!
The ingredients are questionable, but it’s not a bad suggestion.
If we can borrow Aoba’s kitchen to cook, we can indeed make something tastier.
Thinking that, I agree to her suggestion.
And so, we continued buying ingredients. We decided on egg porridge as the base, and we put green onions, Chinese cabbage, and even a frying pan and a pot in the basket—
“Wait a minute. We don’t need these!”
“They might not be at home.”
“That’s true, but what if they were there?”
“…As a gift for the visit?”
She’s still off.
Her thought process, which is incomprehensible to someone like me, is operating in her brain.
I return them to the shelf again.
Due to such back and forth, it took a bit of time, but we managed to finish the shopping with me paying the bill this time.
